ok so you should never assume a professional entertainer's work or public image has any direct bearing on who they are in their private life especially when it comes to something as complex and personal as being a parent but like still, imagine being a baby and Carly Rae Jepsen is your mom

am I being a hair too woke, or is it vaguely misogynistic that the Superman (2025) is inspired by certain comics but is still its own original story but Supergirl (2026) is a more direct adaption of one specific story? Like Superman is a character who can carry many stories and storylines just on him, but supergirl just has this one approved 'good story' that she needs to follow.

idk it just feels weird to me. this is a new universe, I want fresh ideas. (or at least consistency in this overall project)

saw a TikTok criticizing the movie and saying they should have pushed it to hire someone else who actually read the comic, and just brought me here again. 1) Woman of Tomorrow is not the only supergirl comic guys. There are others and they are fun!! 2) Medium is important-things need to be changed to go from comic to movie (which is why arcs aren’t usually done 1:1)

and anyway, I liked supergirl, but in my deluded hope of having each dcu movie be a superhero take on different genres (expect superman which the the superhero superhero movie), this could have gone even more coming of age. I would have taken supergirl in an edge of seventeen direction myself. But alas, this is my vision only

a part of duke and bruce's relationship I really like is just how honest and straight forward it is. like I haven't read duke extensively (just the major appearances like WAR and BaTS) but especially in all star batman it really stood out to me that he said what he was thinking and bruce reciprocated. Idk I just thought it showed how much bruce respected him, considering how closed off batman can be known to be

something I think would be interesting if handled right--some sort of version of that issue of Green Arrow 2001 where Anarchy features and Ollie's take away ends up being along the lines of 'yesterday's radical is doomed to become a centrist, if progress is being made', but sub in Duke for Lonnie

Explore the dimensions of leftism and community action, and how people's approaches stem from different places and thus branch out slightly differently (especially top down/bottom up organizing)

Plus I think we could get some good interactions out of it for duke and the larger arrow fam, not that its especially plausible

I liked the supergirl movie!! I like the different tones the dcu has. I think it was better than the WoT comic, but I also have been on record of thinking WoT is just okay.

My favourite parts (no spoilers), in no order:

krem taking the food from wherever he goes (a good bit, i found it funny)

RUTHYE--her actress did a great job I actually liked her this time (I did not in the comic, even when they weren't significantly different)

the way they carried over the broader theme of hope from Superman but showed a different angle of it

that kara was actually the main character!! (whereas in the comic I would say that's ruthye. I would argue they are at least both duo protagonists in both though)

overall 8/10. I think you should all go see it

Supergirl x Batgirl (Kara x Steph) = messy, early twenty-somethings situationship of two bi girls who came out in uni. Can almost relate to Good Luck Babe

Supergirl x Batgirl (Lindamae (specifically when they are fused!!!)x Cass)= the most toxic yuri out there. They are actively making each other worse by fueling their worse impulses and thoughts

Julia Kapatelis was in fact the highlight of Absolute WW 21 for me, just so everyone knows.

The issue was good, she was hardly in it, but it really hit me. I saw her and was like "is that?it can't be" and then Steve confirmed it. Same feeling as when the heroes all come together on the battlefield to fight the big bad
