As a hybrid, you've been with many humans, but all of them were, to put it mildly, bad. You weren't properly cared for, not fed, and you were punished. In any case, you were either voluntarily returned to the shelter, or you went back there yourself after being thrown out like a dirty animal.
And so, you've been without an owner for two years, living at the shelter and "terrorizing" the staff (nothing bad, you just sometimes like to act up and cause a little chaos). It's a good thing you have your friend—Wooyoung! He's a fox hybrid and your best friend (actually, you're in love with him, but you'd never admit it). He arrived at the shelter six months after you, and you became friends all too quickly. Not that you're complaining. Wooyoung is your irreplaceable support, and to be honest, you don't know what you'd do without him. You seem too attached to him. In general, just like he is to you. That's probably why the two of you were placed in the same "room." Not that you don't have other friends besides Wooyoung—you definitely do! But none of the other hybrids have reached the same closeness with you as Wooyoung, even if it's just platonically (to your great regret).
And so the days went by, until one day a married couple visited the shelter. You heard the staff talking about them. Something about how they already have five hybrids and are planning to take in another. Something else about how beautiful and wealthy they are. You weren't particularly impressed by these rumors; after all, you'd been with many different owners, and such talk didn't really affect you anymore. To you, all humans were the same—even if they wanted to take you in, they'd return you one way or another soon enough. And you didn't think anyone would pay attention to you anyway, so you just went on existing as before.
BUT it turned out this beautiful, wealthy couple was interested in Wooyoung. You found out when you overheard the staff talking. They also mentioned something about you, but you didn't listen further. You were taken aback. Potential owners were interested in Wooyoung. It threw you off so much that you just hugged Wooyoung and cried that day. You understood he would most likely be taken, and you'd be left alone. Without him. Without his hugs. Without his warm presence. Wooyoung didn't even ask you what was wrong. It was clear he wanted to know, but he didn't. And that was good. Otherwise, you would have confessed everything you felt for him, and you didn't want to ruin your friendship.
A week passed. The Kim-Park couple visited your "room" every day to talk with Wooyoung and, for some reason, with you too. They asked you the same things they asked Wooyoung, but probably just so you wouldn't feel left out. It seemed they understood they were taking away a hybrid's friend, so they showed "pity" and tried to earn your trust. Well, they succeeded.
Hongjoong and Seonghwa—that was the couple's names—seemed like good, patient people. It showed in their manner of speaking and their scent. Bad people don't smell of happiness and love—you knew that for sure. Deep down, you were even a little jealous of Wooyoung for getting such good owners, but you still felt more happiness for him, even though sadness never left you. After he was taken, you'd be left alone; he'd forget you and live happily, as he should. Wooyoung is your closest person (or hybrid? you don't know how to put it), and you'll do anything for his happiness.
And then, D-Day arrived. You were a nervous wreck all morning. Wooyoung noticed and stayed close, gently holding your hand. To your surprise, he was very happy that morning. Was he so thrilled he wasn't the least bit sad about leaving you? It only worsened your mood. Were you that insignificant in his life?
But nothing prepared you for one unexpected moment.

You've been living in the Kim-Pak household for two months now. You absolutely didn't expect to be taken along with Wooyoung. But you quickly understood why they did it. Of course, for Wooyoung's smooth transition! Why else would they take you? You were sure that as soon as Wooyoung felt completely comfortable here, they'd send you right back to the shelter. You were waiting for that day with all your heart. You didn't want to get attached—not to Wooyoung's new owners, nor to their hybrids. It even got to the point where you started distancing yourself a little from Wooyoung himself, so he could get closer to the other hybrids. Speaking of them. They all seemed strange to you, yet cute.
Yunho, a golden retriever hybrid, was both a ray of sunshine and a true protector. Yeosang, a Doberman hybrid, seemed quiet and formidable, but also very cozy and pleasant, in your opinion. San, a panther hybrid, practically jumped to hug and groom you and Wooyoung the moment he saw you, which told you everything about his nature. Mingi, a wolf hybrid, was intimidating at first until he turned out to be a sweet, awkward puppy. Jongho, a bear hybrid, was the quietest and most formidable, but you sensed a certain softness in him.
Seonghwa and Hongjoong were also great. The elder treated you with tender care, like a mother, and the younger, for no apparent reason, kept giving you various gifts, which you genuinely didn't understand.
From the very first days, these hybrids and their owners won over your poor heart, but you knew you shouldn't let them get close. You'd only make things harder for yourself.
However, it seemed none of them wanted to leave you alone. Which, by the way, made your plan very difficult! You were hugged, sniffed, licked, or petted constantly. Even Wooyoung became clingier than before. You genuinely didn't understand the reason. Why were they doing this?? Did they pity you, treating you like a little kitten? Thinking all their actions were motivated by pity made you feel awful. You experienced many different emotions, but most of all, you felt shame. So much so that you carefully suppressed your playful urges and your thirst for chaos, even with Wooyoung.
In short, you grew tired of their pitying behavior towards you, so when you finally found a moment when only you and the owners were home, you decided to talk to them directly.
You confessed that you knew everything: that they were keeping you as a foster for the fox's sake, and that in the end, they'd return you.
You saw shock and confusion on their faces after your words. You laughed ironically inside. It seemed they didn't expect their plan to be exposed. But that was for the best. Now they wouldn't have to keep you out of pity.
"My necessary belongings are already packed. Please don't keep me here longer than necessary," you said with these words, shifted into your animal form, and ran to your room.
What you didn't notice were the strange looks from your "temporary" owners and the looks from all the hybrids, who shouldn't have been home.

For the rest of that day, until evening, you patiently waited for someone to come and tell you they'd take you back to the shelter. You felt a little sad about leaving. Your personal room was much more comfortable and warmer than the space you shared with Wooyoung, but a guest shouldn't get too attached, even to a place.
Your thoughts were interrupted by a knock on the door. It seemed they had come for you. You picked up the bag with all your necessary things (thank goodness it was small) and placed it by the door. Opening the door, you saw Yunho and Mingi. This surprised you. Were their owners too ashamed to even come for you themselves?
Yunho spoke first: "Shift into your raccoon form, please."
There was something strange in his tone and gaze, but you paid no mind, quickly shifting. You were immediately scooped up by Mingi's large hands and held firmly. Did they think you'd cause trouble if not restrained? But overall, you didn't complain much. It was nice to have a last hug with one of the hybrids, though you also expected a farewell hug from Wooyoung.
You realized something was wrong when you noticed you weren't being led toward the stairs. As soon as you approached a specific door—which you knew was the nest of this hybrid pack—the mixed scent of all the hybrids and their owners hit your nose. At first, you were stunned, but the moment Yunho opened the door and Mingi carried you inside, you started struggling to get free. Not that you had much success. Mingi was far too strong compared to you in your animal form.
Calmly, despite your resistance, he walked over to the pack's nest and settled in the center, still holding your squirming body.
"Y/N." The voice that spoke your name immediately stopped your wriggling. It was Hongjoong's voice.
You looked up and scanned the nest. All the hybrids were in their humanoid hybrid forms, surrounding Mingi who held you. Their possessive gazes pierced through you. You didn't understand what was happening.
Hongjoong and Seonghwa sat directly in front of you, only Mingi's legs separating you from them.
Why were you brought here? What's happening? Did you do something wrong?
The mixed scents were slowly driving you crazy.
You felt a wet nose on your cheek. You turned your gaze—it was Wooyoung in his fox form. He looked at you with wide eyes and whined softly. The moment he saw you looking, he practically climbed onto Mingi, taking up half your personal space, and began licking you.
What on earth is going on?
"Y/N, I want to clarify something," Hongjoong spoke again with his authoritative, stern tone. "We took you in along with Wooyoung not out of pity, but because we truly wanted you."
Seonghwa spoke next. "Sweetheart, you and Wooyoung won our hearts, and we truly didn't understand that you felt unwanted in this home." He reached out and gently stroked your head. "We love you and don't want to give you up, understand?"
Their words struck you. You never thought you were truly needed in this house by anyone besides Wooyoung, and even that you had doubted. You began to cry, covering your eyes with your small paws.
Seonghwa and Hongjoong looked tenderly at your trembling little body and got up from their spots.
"Boys, you know what to do," the owners said as they left the room.

So, for the rest of the evening, you were subjected to all kinds of "torture." And it didn't matter what form you were in: animal or hybrid. They whispered tender words to you, told you how much they loved you. Each of the hybrids left their scent on you (Jongho surprised you the most, as he ended up holding you longer than any of the others).
All the affection wore you out so much that you couldn't hold back and fell asleep. Perhaps a more serious conversation awaited you in the morning, but that didn't matter now, especially when you were surrounded by the care and warmth of the other hybrids.
