Companies need to hire for the ability to acquire skills, not the skills themselves, according to WSJ Leadership Expert Lynda Spiegel.
This article was a great read. As an employer, it’s easy to try to find someone just based off of the noticeable skills they say they have or on their resume. People need to look at their KSAO’s more rather than specific skills.
Not only that, but don’t you think it would be beneficial to hire someone to shape them into the worker that they will be to benefit the company. However, it is cheaper to hire someone that already has to skills so training won’t be expensive.
