Since this is the 10th anniversary of Conway Day, I wanted to pay homage to all the different versions of him that exist around the world! But since I don't speak every language on the planet, I was "only" able to find 19 versions (so far 👀 the hunt never ends).

Though I think that's more than enough to see how much a character (and our perception of him) can change from country to country just by listening to the kind of voice they choose for him and his inflections. That's super cool imo!

I tried to identify as many voices as I could, but I still wasn't able to find all of their names and there's a chance I may have gotten some wrong. So if you're from any of these countries and know who voiced Conway in your dub, please feel free to let me know!

Okay so back in September, Iwane-sensei drew Conway again! This time with his eyes fully visible, which means you can see his eye color. ;u;

I’m really excited about this not only because it’s a gorgeous piece (obviously), but also because this is the first time we get to see his brown eyes in a normal state. Before this, the only time we saw them in the actual anime was when he was hypnotized by the Ghost Girl.

Iwane’s original text says something along the lines of “Wouldn’t it be refreshing if he didn’t make his glasses shine?”. And I, for one, agree. Let your eyes shine, boy!! 👓✨

How I spent my July 4th.

Appliqué almost done. Then onward to the background stitching

At the start I thought stitching “fuck you I won’t do what you tell me” for the last quarter would be therapeutic

I was correct.

Close to finishing the top. Now I gotta figure out how I want to quilt it.

I have one more line of embroidery and I think it needs to be bolder and messier than I started it.

Hard to tell in this light, and without ironing it, that the embroidery does get gradually bolder as it goes. Two strands at the top versus 5 at the bottom (6 for the started to be redone final line).

Not bad for first time doing appliqué.

Still need to decide how I want to quilt it.

honestly what I’ve always liked about this is that the growing power didn’t come from just the act of touching the ground - but from the weight or pressure put into the ground. I really, really want to emphasize that a lot of my activism-vs-posting posts are expressly not saying "you should simply stop trying"

They are saying "here is why trying to fight every evil in the world by yourself using nothing but your social media account is a bad idea."

If you want your effort to lead to something instead of just throwing effort into a void, you have to get involved with organized activism. I can't tell you which organization to join, because I don't know where you live, and I don't know what causes are important to you. Divert some of the effort you're putting into scrolling into figuring that out.

Sometimes, being involved in an org will feel like you're doing less, because the org will have specific times they meet, or specific events they're prioritizing.

Now, here's the thing.

You need to take the logic of all those workers' rights posts you've seen. The ones that talk about understaffing, the ones that talk about how 14-hour shifts are very, very bad. And think. If an activist cause is important, primarily done by volunteers, and needs to be done well to have an impact... is it a responsible thing for you to burn yourself out doing it?

No, it's not. The cause needs you rested and focused, not overworked and burnt out. Work smarter, not "harder."

intellectually i understand that ds9 probably has sonic washing machines or whatever but i think the station should have a coin-operated laundromat (you must go to quark's to exchange cash into Quark Coins to use it) and i think there should be drama wherein someone removes garak's wet clothes from the washing machine and leaves them in a heap on a table. and of course he finds out who did it by hacking the security cameras and promptly rigs the washing machine to explode the next time they use it.

Years later, this upsets a delicate first contact situation in the Delta Quadrant when O'Brien thinks to clear out the ol' buffer while in orbit and causes the heavens over a pre-warp society to rain socks for days.
