Hello! I'm a Therian that lives in Latin America, and I can unfortunately say that, while we're nowhere near close to being oppressed in the same way that other minority groups are, we're still being treated as targets of hate and being made into scapegoats so they don't have to talk about the shit that's actually going on in our countries
Allow me to show the receipts
"Honduras and Guatemala prohibit public meetings of therians because they "alter public order and moral"
"The first Guatemalan "Therian" is removed from park Huehuetenango"
This one comes alongside with an official statement from the local authorities
"Milei plans to sanction "therians" if they go out disguised on the streets"
All this to show that, while not everywhere, we are in fact targets of political violence, not to mention the countless "news" articles that look to capitalize on all the drama by fear mongering and spreading misinformation
Such as but not limited to:
Alleged bites from alter humans
Accusing therians of going to the vet for medical treatment
"Mating" in public spaces
And you're right! a lot of things are Ai generated
Such as this "invitations" to therian meet ups in Spain, which are AI generated by people trying to lure therians into certain places at certain times so that they can actively harass them or even beat them up
And not to mention that a vast majority of the attendants to this "meet ups" are onlookers at best, people looking for internet clout, or at worst, people looking to actively harass them
And this is just the examples that I've heard of.
On top of the internet hate of course, which you may argue "it's just the internet!" but unfortunately said internet also reaches a lot of people, such as, my peers, students from my university, my friends, all of which I've heard make comments irl about how "if they see a therian they're going to kick it" and have expressed a sentiment of "I don't wanna talk to them, what if they bark at me?" On top of using it as an "insult" in the same way as "gay" used to be.
Mind you, all. of them. are queer. But they still parrot this hate they see on the internet, how likely they would actually be to enact said hate if given the chance I have no idea, but I also wouldn't like to find out.
And this doesn't just reach young people, as I've had my mother (in her 50s) and my uncle (in his 70s) who have both asked me about the topic because they both encountered videos mocking alter humans and encouraging violence against them all while saying "This is why this generation doesn't have rights"
So I have to walk on thin fucking ice at every given moment, because, again, I genuinely don't want to find out how willing they would be to actually practice what they preach.
Yes, we're not as oppressed and targeted as other groups, but that doesn't mean that prejudice is inexistent.
If you would like to see more of such examples, I suggest looking through @this-is-alterhumisia
I apologize if this has typos or sounds rude, this isn't meant to be mean or attack anyone.
