Excerpts from an illustrated children’s book adapted from a play written by myself, Celeste Lai, and her father Stan Lai. The play was produced and performed by Performance Workshop in Shanghai, China, and has been picked up for a tour this year.

Another throwback to 2014 when Celeste Lai (@limbforest) and I designed theatrical projections for A Winter Journey in Beijing China. Possibly the first major theatrical piece from the main land on the subject of the Cultural Revolution.
Concept art from our still-in-progress comic. The story is a 3 part epic, in collaboration with Celeste Lai, and is our current primary independent focus.
Throwback to 2014 when Celeste Lai (@limbforest) and I designed life-sized theatrical projections for a huge show in Beijing. The play (Winter Journey) is possibly the first major theatrical piece from the main land on the subject of the Cultural Revolution, and is still touring China.
I traded a flyer design to my martial arts instructor for some free classes. Are you in the NYC area and are interested in Qi Gong or Bagua Zhang? Swing by Tigerlily Holistic in Bushwick every Monday night and Wednesday morning.
On the dust jacket of Roland Barthes Travels in China there are amazing drawings of smoke/clouds/qi. There was a logic to them that I really wanted to understand. I saw this style of cloud drawing on the cover of an acupuncture book, and decided to study them until I understood it. It took a while, but I broke through to the other side. Now I’m sad. I have demystified something I was once so fascinated by, and I will never look at them the same again...
Portrait of my partner.
QI CALCULATOR OF THE FACE. Inscription on the back reads: “Luckily her mole was in an auspicious area of the face,” said her mother. But the truth was that a mole anywhere was lucky, because every mark or mole or blemish made her unique and anything that separated her from her mother, at that time, was her favorite thing about herself.
The Worshipers of the Forms. A collaboration between myself and @limbforest. All credit for the creature design goes to her. Very fortunate to be able to work with such an amazing artist. Her ability to effortlessly capture massive, sweeping, complicated ideas and feelings into such tiny little images is magic of the highest order! What an inspiration...
