“We are going to have Lia and Mr. Williams practice their walk down the aisle while I give cues and directions to Prince Harry and the Duke of Cambridge at the altar,” Mary informed the small group who was present for their wedding rehearsal at Westminster the evening of May 23rd. “Once you both arrive at the altar we will run through what will happen once you are there with the Archbishop of Canterbury. Please wait for my cue to start walking, understood?”
Lia nodded with a smile linking her left arm with her father's right. She couldn't help her eyes follow the older woman down the aisle as she went towards the two brothers who stood smiling and laughing at the front of the church.
“How you holding up Bun?” Ellis asked his daughter, who although didn't seem nervous now, would be tomorrow morning.
Lia turned her attention to her father who looked upon her with question and concern. “I'm fine Daddy. I'm honestly ready for this to be done and to be married.”
“And there is no way I can convince you to just stay my little Bun?”
Lia smiled softly at her father, her right hand coming to lay over his. “I'll always be your little Bun, Daddy.”
Ellis nodded before a smirk crossed his lips. “My grandchildren are going to be gingers.”
Lia laughed loudly, perhaps too loudly for a church, nodding her head. “If I have any say over it, yes, they will all be gingers.”
“Lord help us all,” He joked beginning to move forward as they heard the cue from Mary. “Slow and steady Bun.”
Lia gave a slight nod, her feet moving slowly down the long aisle. She noticed that Harry's back was to her causing her to smile wondering how much effort it's taking him to not turn around. She watched as Will turned a bit sending her a wink before leaning into his brother with a wicked smirk. Lia laughed softly to herself knowing what he was doing.
As their feet climbed the couple of stairs to the altar, she was graced with a smile from the Archbishop.
“Nicely done, Ma'am,” He praised with a friendly nod. While she knew she should have offered him a response, her attention was on the ginger haired male next to her. Harry looked at her with a look she wasn't prepared to see during their rehearsals, but was gearing up for during the wedding. She let out a tiny, quiet gasp as she saw all the emotions written in his face. Pride, happiness, excitement, love. And although she thought that he wouldn't be able to say a word in that moment, she surprised her as he always tends to do.
“Took you long enough. I've been waiting my whole life for you to meet me here.”
“Henry Charles,” Lia’s eyes welled up with tears.
