I need to find this cafe
“you support gay rights so you must be gay”
i support animal rights do i look like a fucking alpaca to you
turns out i am gay
holy shit how’d this alpaca learn how to type
Diversity win! The alpaca is gay!
he was a llama
a llama?! he’s supposed to be dead!
would y’all ever date someone with the same name as you?
I’m sorry for adding directly to a post but I went to a wedding once where the groom’s name was Loren and the bride’s name was Lauren and at the end the officiant was all “introducing Loren [surname] and Lauren [surname], husband and wife” and the entire assembled lost it
also sorry for adding on but at my high school there was a Dominic and a Dominique who were dating and everyone just called them “Dom and Dommer” which is honestly the funniest shit ever
My parents are both named Terry (spelled differently) but I’m pretty sure that’s one of the reasons my mom never changed her last name.
People would call and ask for Terry and child me would be like “boy or girl?” And they’d panic and hang up. My mom found this endlessly amusing.
Why would you leave this GOLD in the tags??
Had to submit it to the tags for peer review
So I'm playing Skyrim and trying to do the fishing quests. I go to Haelgas bunkhouse to find Swims and there's just a Thief running around.
I'm. I'm not sure this npc is supposed to be there. I know they spawn in Riften (and inevitably get mobbed by guards and killed; interestingly the nps inside Haelgas are just ignoring him) but I've never seen one indoors. He's just frantically running around and I keep thinking about pigeons that get stuck in big stores. I wanna chase him around with a net and gently release him outdoors where he belongs.
Ok. He got down the stairs and I blocked them off. I've cast a calm spell on him and he's stopped running around. I think I can repeatedly nudge him to the door, talk to him, and quickly exit.
He's fallen down the other stairs. I didn't even realize there was a floor down :(
But good news: when he's calmed, he just goes upstairs to either lean against a wall or sit in a chair.
But is this ethical. If I put him back into his natural habitat, he'll just be killed by guards. At least in Haelgas he'll just repeatedly run around.
it's very frustrating seeing otherwise well-structured posts about media literacy and critical thinking bookended with statements about "nowadays", "nobody has literacy anymore", "this generation is so anti-intellectual", and the like, unquestioningly falling into better past fallacies.
Do we really think the 80s and its Satanic Panic were better at critical thinking? what about the 40s? the Victorian era? societies have always had problems with critical thinking and literacy, because most societies have dealt with propaganda, corrupt leadership, difficulty providing education (due to poverty or discrimination or other issues), and/or people who resist critical thinking (due to privilege or circumstance or what have you). we can criticize media trends without pulling a "well back in the GOOD OLD DAYS" about it.

Slavery…
"Slavery was so long ago. Get over it."
Slavery is literally happening now. Police never stopped being slave catchers. People are supporting it now just like they supported it then.
If you support ICE, you would have supported slavery, because ICE is slavery.
I've dyed my hair constantly since I was a teen- mostly black, or red, sometimes multicoloured. I liked the ritual of it, and thought my natural (ashy mid-brown) looked tired and boring.
20+ years on I reached the point of having too much grey hair for home dye to work any more (fyi when you lose the natural pigment it doesn't absorb unnatural pigment very well either). So I went to a hairdresser with some cool ideas, to which they went "Nope! Can't do anything until THAT (many layers of old dye) grows out"
I felt worried, like what now? I can't just not dye it!
I realised I felt about dye like some people feel about makeup, and thought it would be healthy idea to try going without it for a year or so, and get comfortable with whatever that looks like.
It's not the most feminist act ever, but it's been a few months now and I'm starting to like the witchy stripes I see in the mirror. I like the character in the texture. I can imagine a different but still attractive version of me in her 40s and 50s, and it's kinda exciting, you know? Becoming.
I explained the concept of "blorbo from my shows" to my 71 year old immigrant grandfather because I referenced it in passing and I thought nothing of it, until today when he said "I think I'll watch peaky blinders tonight and see my blorbo from my shows" referring, of course, to Cillian Murphy playing Tommy Shelby
English isn't his first language so he's not super in touch with modern slang, so I've been accidentally teaching him to talk like a tumblr user. His favorite thing to say lately is "me when I'm a little hater" when he's like talking shit about the neighbor's son
I explained the “x before gta6” meme to my immigrant father and he, in turn, explained to me how back in his day in Romania, they had the same type of joke, except instead of it being gta6, it was about the imminent death of a singer named Gică Petrescu, who everyone was continuously shocked by because he refused to die. Every time a momentous event happened people would say, in essence: “This happened and Gică Petrescu hasn’t even died yet?!?”
So. He understood the gta6 meme immediately because they apparently had the same thing in Romania when he was young, except way, way more morbid
OP are you telling me we got the death of Gică Petrescu before we got gta6
literally me
I don’t have time to unpack my full thoughts on the whole argument of ‘you shouldn’t be a burden to the healthcare system’ but I would like to chime in on it:
so, all athletes should immediately stop playing sports. construction workers, anyone with jobs that put them at risk, they need to find different employment. people with uteruses shouldn’t ever get pregnant, either. actually you know what? don’t enter a car or vehicle at all! and don’t even get me started on old people. what age do we think they should just give it up & throw in the towel? 50? 60? after that they become way too burdensome. it’s a problem.
sweet baby eugenicist, your anger is misplaced. they want you to blame yourself instead of their crumbling system. you should be asking, what kind of a fucking healthcare system is it if it can be burdened by the very thing it exists to provide? which is healthcare?!
pink in the night
If there is a time I don’t reblog this it will be because the apocalypse got me
also the creator confirmed the brunette girl is trans!!
every year around mid-late june im like "god i feel so shitty all of a sudden, what on earth is wrong with me?" and every year my husband is like "...you know its father's day on Sunday, right?" and then i feel very silly. because i did not remember that.
happy I Hate This Fucking Holiday to everyone else who Hates This Fucking Holiday
After years of living in the adulting world, I think I’ve come to a realization: Manners exist to guide you to good conduct even when you’re in a bad mood.
When you’re happy, when you’re feeling generous, when you’re pleased with your gift or your service or your outcome, it’s easy to be nice. It’s easy to tip the waiter well when you’ve had a good day. It’s easy to thank the teller or the clerk when you got what you wanted out of the transaction. It’s easy to smile and chit-chat with strangers on the road when you’re in a good mood.
It’s hard to tip the waiter when you didn’t enjoy your food. It’s hard to thank the clerk for their time when you’ve just been told there’s a problem with their account and they weren’t able to fix it for you. It’s hard to think of something nice to say when your aunt gave you a crappy sweater you neither need nor want. It’s hard to be nice to people when you’ve had a shitty day. It’s HARD.
That’s what manners are for. Scripts and phrases that you learn by rote to say when you can’t think of a single nice or good thing to say from your own volition. Yes, they’re scripted. Yes, the sentiment is empty. But the scripts work in every situation, and the emptiness provides a buffer between your own unhappiness and the rest of society. The fact that they are empty means that they are not heavy to carry.
Because most of the time, it’s not the waiter’s fault that the food you ordered wasn’t what you expected. It’s not the clerk’s fault that your account is overdrawn. It’s not the fault of the barista or the stranger on the subway that you got fired today or your favorite aunt died. But even when you can’t summon a smile or a cheery word, you can still have manners, because they will serve you the same in sunshine or rain.
weird how abled people don't want you to have supports because it may Annoy Them. no, you can't have a shower chair, it'll get in my way. no, you can't put subtitles on, im here to watch a movie not read. because the needs of the disabled are somehow lesser than the wants of the abled.
this clip from the new will anderson video is actually maybe the funniest thing ive seen in years
Very funny to me that there's an AI-boosting dipshit patrolling the replies who is completely confident that the latest high end models are that much smarter.
In case you're wondering: no, the new models aren't really that much smarter.
Here's my experience. The company I work for is run by one of those true believers in AI. We are all obligated to have AI analyze all our work, and the company pays for the latest and bestest super-premium version of Claude to do so. It's a hilariously stupid expenditure that cannot possibly be sustainable, but when the CEO rubs elbows with everyone at Anthropic and OpenAI, well, I guess we've got to be on the "cutting edge" of this garbage.
I have watched Claude analyze a bash script and have almost exactly this sort of stupidly long back-and-forth "debate" with itself about a trivial matter of syntax (which a simpler static analysis tool could validate in a fraction of a second). In the end, it concluded that the script was actually MathML, and then it spat out a screen and a half of malformed and meaningless MathML syntax in reply. This happened a month ago, not years ago.
So, yeah, "first percentile" indeed. These people don't have the foggiest idea of how an LLM actually works, just wholly unearned confidence from these machines telling them how smart and clever they are.
