My eyes are open. My room is barren and the lights are dimmer, the princess does not even look at me. I ask her where all this began, this pallid nastiness and she fains ignorance, claiming I am speaking nonsense. Nonsense. Nonsense? Nonsense! I ask nothing but the truth; of course there's no sense in it! Chaos and order are a flat circle, who is foolish enough to decide where one stops and the other began? Life was never meant to be logical, the universe has no obligation to make humans feel better about their rules and theories. The Warden visits me and I send him straight to hell with his sympathy and explanations. I despise that I am told explanations instead of the truth. Did this profanity happen before or after I lost my sense of time?

I ask the princess for water but she delivers me nothing but lies. I'm parched, more tired and empty than I have ever been before and thus I suspect this longing and desperation is not entirely mine. I mourn memories I have never got to live, look at concepts of bones and indentation in rock under the glass of a museum that I don't understand, hold an unfamiliar grudge to my chest until it reveals its teeth and bites me. My eyes are open and yet I feel like I'm dreaming of violent lights hiding in the guts of atomic reactors.

I ask the princess about the time and she laughs as if I have said something very humorous, her smile stretches across the horison and her eyes are glowing like neutron stars, she tells me that time does not matter. She tells me anything meaningful and terrible that needs to happen already happened, it is done and that I shall not worry about it. When she tells me to rest my eyes are finally shut.

It’s also the respected academic term?? The acronym isn’t static and it’s usage is varied by things like generational difference, location, and knowledge of the community. Even just in the U.S. in the last few decades the common usage gone from GLBT to LGBT to LGBTQ, to LGBTQA/LGBTQIA/LGBTQIAP/etc (Which, let me tell you as someone who has given presentations in the past using these updated acronyms, are all real mouthfulls), to LGBT+.

Also yes, queer is more inclusive! Especially coming at it from an academic standpoint, people didn’t always use or identify with the terms we use now and you can’t always try to cram them into our modern perceptions of sexuality. We can argue for years about whether a famous historical figure was gay or bisexual or straight and trans or whatever, but if we can all agree that they were somehow queer then using that term allows us to move past the debate and into productive discussion. And not everybody everywhere shares the same terms for sexual and gender identity, or even the same concepts of those things, so queer really is a more inclusive term in a lot of cases.

Like yeah if you’re talking specifically about gay or trans people you can just say gay or transgender, but if you’re talking about more than one identity or someone who doesn’t conform to our perceptions of ‘LGBT,’ or a person or people whose identity you don’t know, queer is just the better word.

I don’t know if this is just because I’m not American but I’ve never heard queer used as a slur. Ever. Meanwhile gay was the insult in the 2000s here. Everything you didn’t like was ‘soo gay’. Queer wasn’t even a word most of us knew back then.

It just baffled me that people would think an identifier is automatically a slur just because someone uses it to mock someone. If we did that gay would be a slur. Stupid would be a slur. Autistic would be a slur.

The reason people are upset about the word queer is that it’s a unifying term. You can say you’re queer and all people will know is that you’re part of the community. But you can’t say you’re LGBT, you have to say you’re gay or trans or ace. They don’t want you to be ambiguously queer. They want you to say which kind of queer you are so they can decide whether you’re undesirable.

shading colour tips

hey yall its me the Art Mom™ to help you shade pretty

rule 1: DO NOT SHADE WITH BLACK. EVER. IT NEVER LOOKS GOOD. 

red- shade with a slightly darker shade of purple

orange- slightly darker and more saturated shade of red

yellow- i think like..a peach could work but make it a really light peach

green- shade with darker and less saturated shade of blue or teal

blue- shade with purple

purple- a shade thats darker than the purple you’re using and maybe a little pink (MAYBE blue)

pink- darker shade of red

white- a really light lavender or blue..or i guess any really light colour??

black- okay listen dont use pure black to colour anything unless you want to leave it with flat colours because you cant really shade black lol

grey- a slightly darker shade of purple or blue (less saturated)

brown- slightly darker and less saturated shade of purple or red

aaaaand thats all i got lol. let me know if there is anything i should add to this list!!

Clarification: There are cases where black can be used to shade, but they are rare. Very rare. And even then, you’re probably still going to want to hue shift first.

Black is for areas where absolutely NO light can reach. This doesn’t apply to a large majority of cases.

EDIT: Yes, obviously there’s room for exceptions like stylistic choice. This is just general advice for people starting out who don’t yet know when black is appropriate.

Also, yes, this works with both traditional and digital media.
