"You hear that? They're saying The Odyssey doesn't even have nobody!"
"They've got nobody in the Odyssey?"
"No I'm saying they don't got nobody."
"Nobody's there?"
"Nobody's not there!"
"So everyone's there?"
"Everybody but nobody!"
my friend was testing perfumes out at the store and she sniffed a bottle and anounced "ngl this bitch kind of sucks" The girl at the counter suddenly looked really sad, and my friend was like "I'm sorry, I wasn't talking about you." And the girl looked up and said "No don't worry, I didn't think that, but I just crushed a ladybug with my shoe" We both took a peak over the counter. she'd stepped on a red m&m
you start to believe the world's problems can't be solved with insight until you meet someone who lacks it entirely
"warm, shallow seas" is one of the most beautiful phrases in paleontology and it's everywhere... these mollusks lived in warm, shallow seas... scientists think that photosynthetic life evolved in warm, shallow seas... in that era the Earth was covered by warm, shallow seas...
I wish I was resting by an antediluvian warm, shallow sea
today is the misgendering day apparently and itâs insane that i (we) have to just. take it at work. because thatâs what is polite and professional. and iâm not allowed to go into my coworkerâs office and say âwhat will it take for you to start gendering me correctlyâ and iâm not allowed to respond to students and say âplease be mindful of the clearly stated pronouns and honorifics in my signatureâ and before you say âyouâre allowed to say those things!â no iâm not. i promise i am not.
the argument i often get is âpeople donât know that it bothers you if you donât correct themâ and i donât know how to make you understand how it feels to have to ask politely over and over again to be treated with the same respect that people unthinkingly grant to dogs.
i feel so defensive and protective of people with ARFID like if i had a disorder that made my brain register 90% of food as poison for no reason and i had a bazillion people on the internet constantly calling me a manchild who needs to just grow up and stop being a picky eater i would start killing people
is it hard to learn piano as an adult? i want to try
challenging, but it helps a lot to stop treating skill as something you are either supposed to have or not have, which i guess is why a lot of people wait for the right moment to get into whatever it is that they find appealing, and then never end up doing so. just like with anything that requires consistency, what you do becomes much more interesting and enjoyable when you stop looking at "it" as one enormous task and start looking at it as a series of teeny tiny problems. you deal with one, you learn how to get to the solution and onto the next. you do not necessarily even have to go in order, it's a huge grass field for you to explore like a little baby sheep. you already have curiosity and perhaps even appreciation for it (surely) so why not... that is good enough of a reason. consistency matters more than intensity and everything worthwhile is built through repetition. guidance and asking for help are of great importance as well so never hesitate to reach out to other people (forums are awesome especially if you cannot afford classes) and i 10000% stand by this but believe in your ability to teach yourself. take something that catches your eye, look it up, dissect it, wonder about it and most importantly be welcoming towards it and don't be in your head so much
Rubio report on Cuban subversion names Zohran Mamdani, Amy Goodman, Hasan Piker + orgs like DSA and Amazon Labor Union
âMany of the most significant upheavals in recent American political history â from the George Floyd riots to the rise of Antifa to the explosion of pro-terrorist activism on American college campuses â can be linked, in some way, shape, or form, to Cuban influence,â the report says.
As for who these supposed agents of Cuban influence are, the report is remarkably explicit. It names people like Ben Cohen (of Ben & Jerryâs ice cream fame), Mayors Zohran Mamdani and Karen Bass, media figures like Amy Goodman and Hasan Piker, and organizations like the Democratic Socialists of America and the Amazon Labor Union.
The implication is clear: Secretary of State Marco Rubio thinks there should be a modern-day blacklist of the political left in America. In fact, the report explicitly mentions the âblacklists, McCarthy-era investigations and prosecutionsâ of the 1950s and their effectiveness at dismembering the Communist Party USA.
The 100-page report, titled âCuba: The Capital of 21st Century Communism,â was released this morning.
