Odysseus’s chest tightens, wrenched with a sudden rush of fondness so fierce, it overwhelms everything else around him. He loves him, he loves him, he loves him, he thinks it may be the easiest thing in the world to do so.
or oneshot stories that are mostly an excuse to write odysseus internally (and externally tbh) monologuing about how much he loves his son and his wife. it’s several love letters in a trench coat.
This fic is so sweet it make me melt!

“You’ve grown desperate.”
Maybe so. Most definitely so. Odysseus did not have the means to deny it.
“Fight me,” he said again, his chest heaving with breath that felt insufficient, drawing in salt and sweat and the tang of blood.
Zeus seemed to consider this for a moment—though Odysseus feared he’d made his decision on what to do with him the moment golden blood had been spilled. The gods were petty, grudge-holding folk, and Odysseus had already stirred up enough trouble to warrant a thousand divine punishments. He had nothing to gain. He knew this. And yet, when making the choice between giving in and fighting until he couldn’t anymore, there was not a part of him that was willing to go gently to his end.
“Very well,” said the Lord of storm and thunder and crushed Odysseus in his palm.
This series is so fascinating! It really explores something I always wanted to see, if Ody got back earlier.

In one world, Telemachus turns from Antinous’s stilled fist to see a goddess. In this one, a bloodied spirit greets him instead, grin twisted. His faded toga is ripped, his skin underneath covered in grisly blunt-force wounds. His beard is wild, and his eyes even more so.
“What’s- What’s happening?” Telemachus stammers, stumbling backwards.
“Is your plan to just stand around?” the spirit asks nonchalantly. He studies Antinous’s figure, a dark light in his eyes. “I suggest you fight back, son.”
This fic is so captivating I adore it!

The world is a whirl of blood and screams and misery, and then it is quiet. Telemachus stares at the blood-drenched man before him in awe. “Father?”
“Daughter,” the man breathes, and Telemachus’s heart drops like a stone in his gut even as he smiles back. Right. Yes. Of course.
This fic is so pure! Ody loves his family so much it makes me cry.

“I have another boy at home,” the wistful king murmured, his words leaving his lips with the burdensome weight of memory. “Much older than you by now… the last I saw him, he wasn’t yet half your size. But he lives very far from here, on another isle across the sea.”
His own eyes stared back at him, unreactive to his words. His son was just an infant, but Odysseus realized that even if he were of rational age, he couldn’t possibly understand what he was saying. The child didn't know what existed beyond the idyllic, gilded shores of Ogygia. He didn't know of smiling people, and kingdoms, and war. The glittering isle had consumed the entirety of his life. Odysseus felt his grip around him tighten.
“You won't die on these shores, boy of mine. I swear it on my life.”
An alternate universe in which Odysseus unwillingly has a child with Calypso.
This fic tore me apart emotionally. It really had me on the edge of my seat as I continued to read!

As Ares falls deeper into his silence, he grows to love Athena. She is a good half-sister, he thinks one day centuries after the last sentence he’d ever spoken, when they meet on opposite sides of the battlefield and he brings his sword down on her shield. She will do well for herself, after he fades, and it is perhaps not so astonishing that this thought brings him some comfort.
It is madness, he knows, loving the weapon of your downfall. Loving the one who wields it. But war is madness, and Ares is war, and if he must die in the way immortals do, he would not like to be destroyed by anything lesser.
I think this fic is so amazing! I really love the dynamic between Ares and all the other gods.

He basked in the newly found silence that rang in the palace halls. And although it hurt to be apart from his father, Telemachus understood he would need time.
But as the boy ate, sometimes with a book in his hands, he began to notice a pattern.
Day by day, his father peaking out from behind the doorframe leading into the dining hall.
Or, Telemachus and Odysseus rant about how much they love each other and Ody likes to watch his son eat.
This fic is so sweet! I think their dynamic is so heartwarming.

“You look just like your father.”
For as long as Telemachus could remember, those words seemed to have followed him since his birth. He heard them traded among the court, the servants, the townsfolk — Mama had even told him, once, that it had been her first thought when he was born, that he was undeniably his father's son.
He had always delighted in that title. Odysseides, the son of Odysseus — even if he had far too few memories of his father to truly remember what he was like.
(The four times Telemachus was compared to his father, the one time his father compared him to his mother).
Love Tele being both his parent's child! I definitely think he takes after them both.

Telemachus falls ill, for the first time since his father returned. That’s fine, he’ll just isolate himself, as he always does when he’s sick. Why should it be any different when his father’s home?
…even though deep down, part of him does really want his dad…
Odysseus doesn’t quite know how to handle it- but damn if he’s not going to try to shower his stubborn boy with care.
This fic is so good! I love Ody worrying over his boy, its so sweet.
