Yes the idea that women “expire” past a certain age while men get better with age is tied to pedophilic beauty standards set by men and the idea that a woman’s only worth is tied to her appearance.

But it’s also just not true. The opposite is true if anything. I mean, like the 20 step skincare routines are extreme, but women are taking care of themselves, mentally and physically, on a level men just are not. Which of the sexes is more likely to always wear sunscreen and moisturize? Which of the sexes is more likely to eat a healthy balanced diet and stretch often? Which of the sexes is more likely to care about drinking water? Which of the sexes is more likely to be self aware and make a commitment to self improvement and helping out in their community? Guys in their 20’s are already balding, addicted to porn, and refuse to self reflect and curb their vices. I think in 20 years we’ll see a lot of (straight) couples where it looks like there’s a problematic age gap even when there isn’t because of the drastic differences in lifestyles. Oh and older single men aren’t a catch. I do not buy the whole “silver fox” myth. There’s probably a reason they’ve been single for so long and they repel women their own age. They’ll be out here, living like they’re still 23 but feeling entitled to a wife and children

I know three men who spent their 20s and 30s being fuckboys and living like children. Once they hit 40, they predictably decided they wanted to settle down. They were all ***surprised pikachu face** when they couldn't find a hot 25-35 year old, who takes care of herself in the way you are describing, who wanted to settle down with them. Those women are looking for someone their own age who shares their values, not a washed up playboy.

My old therapist told me she tried to do matchmaking as a side gig but had to stop because she encountered these men so frequently it disgusted her.

also i love when tv shows signify that a new scene is immediately post-sex by cutting to a shot of two characters falling face-up into bed next to each other. it always makes me imagine that for them, sex must have taken the form of levitating supine above the mattress shoulder-to-shoulder, staring at the ceiling & not touching or acknowledging each other

Mosquito bites are itchy because our immune system overreacts to the mosquito saliva proteins. It’s our bodies that are overreacting.

As for the diseases, some diseases change the mosquito’s behavior. The mosquito immune system is very good at keeping the mosquito healthy while still transmitting disease to other species. However, mosquitoes don’t get benefit from carrying disease.

We may have the potential to create mosquitoes immune to the diseases through gene drives. Gene drives would rewrite the vulnerability for malaria to spread the anti-malaria gene to the mosquito population. It is possible this may not work as intended however and that we could unleash a more powerful version of various diseases.
