Finally began watching Chainsaw Man and I have so many questions about the way this world works. It's a really cool premise but it's also one of those "the presence of these supernatural elements should lead to a completely different world than ours but for some reason doesn't" situations. Like, if fear creates Devils shouldn't all of human society have evolved in such a way as to minimize fear as much as possible? Like, why would any country choose to start a war in a world where the Gun Devil is a massive world ending threat and only gets more and more dangerous the more afraid people are of being killed with guns?
Why are horror movies not banned? Would there be many people afraid of chainsaws in the first place if not for the fact they've become a staple of the horror genre? How much more powerful did the Shark Devil become literally overnight after Jaws premiered? Isn't everybody who ever got killed by the Zombie Devil kind of on George Romero's head? Would there even BE a Tomato Devil if Attack of the Killer Tomatoes wasn't a thing?
Also, is there a Devil Devil? There's a Devil representing every human fear there is and I'd have to imagine in this universe one of the big main things people are afraid of is getting attacked by Devils. If there is a Devil Devil and he gets to be strong and feared enough, would it create a Devil Devil Devil born from people's fear of the Devil Devil? And most importantly has the word Devil stopped sounding like it means anything to everyone else or is it just me?
