KATE SHARMA BRIDGERTON 2.05 — An Unthinkable Fate
Man. The flagrant lack of critical reading skills and basic reading comprehension just makes me sad. There's a lot of joy in reading the English language that these people are missing out on. There's a clear INTEREST in reading and I feel like if we could just get people off this anti-intellectual streak everyone would be having much more fun reading Metamorphosis AND Twilight.
I genuinely hate this attitude that getting better reading comprehension skills will somehow keep you from enjoying your pulp romance or comic books or fanfiction. All a literature education does is give you more tools to analyze writing. It will only increase the joy of reading.
Reading a lot more stuff may make you enjoy your pulp less just bc you'll have read more stuff and therefore, you will have found new, better pulp to enjoy instead,
#the more you read the more you understand what you like about the pulp in the first place#and so it is easier to choose Your Kind Of Nonsense bc you know what to look for
congratulations! you have built a star war.
It is vintage times. The powers that be have accepted your casting decisions, and are tentatively moving forward with shooting their new science fiction epic, recently renamed Planet Battles. (somebody thought it sounded cooler.) before they print the posters, take a look at the cast you, the electorate, have assembled!
Luke Skywalker—Sabu Dastagir
Princess Leia—Suraiya
Han Solo—Toshiro Mifune
Obi-Wan Kenobi—Takashi Shimura
Darth Vader—Bela Lugosi
Chewbacca—a Ray Harryhausen stop motion
C-3PO—Charles Hawtrey
R2-D2—Groucho Marx
The Millenium Falcon—Flash Gordon's spaceship (I'm joking, I just needed a ninth thing to complete the grid)
the studio heads are slightly worried this concept is too weird to take off, but hey, even if it fails, i hear the 1977 remake is pretty good.
the type of ship i fuck with the most

i'm reading an essay for school about the body and soul in ancient greek mythology and there's a really intresting part about how a hero or a god's weapons became a part of their bodies (zeus' lightrod/poseidon's trident/heracles' nemean lion skin) and thus fighting with someone else's armour and weapons almost became like being them (the example the essay used was hector fighting achilles wearing his old armour and achilles dooming himself to death by killing hector). with a moderate amount of mental gymnastics (not even that much) there's definetly something to be said in that perspective about luke fighting vader with his old lightsaber (esp considering how a lightsaber is a jedi's life) and vader cutting luke's hand holding it. from a certian point of view luke is not only his son then but by fighting with his weapon he somehow becomes him and vader cutting off his saber hand is just one more way to kill himself again. is this anything.
what if you spent your childhood dreaming about your father then you get a part of him back and then in a way become him by using his weapon which is also kinda his life but what you don't know is that your mentor who you trust actually wants you to use that life to end your father who is now also kinda you and it's all this messy incoherent circle you choose to put an end to
Great moment

the song “untouched” by the veronicas fits well with any wong kar-wai movie
when a songs lyrics use repetition to signify growing desperation and emotion that additional words wouldnt be able to convey
so i hear tumblr's dying and this moby dick meme idea has lived in my head for literal years...

aka Natlena before the Horrors. I like to believe they were close school friends and then drifted apart as they grew older because of the cult.
Bonus: Polaroid with no annotations + no background/effects + raw colour version
And then close up of her eyes because I’m proud of them:
The idea of Helena having any normal friendship at any time.
i don't get it when people are bothered when someone reblogs their fanart with "i hate this ship but the art is good". that comment should be a point of pride tbh
