people on tiktok will be like “the psych ward is like scared straight for depression” and giving them the benefit of the doubt you’re like “yes i agree, they use draconian punishments and force you to mask your problems to regain your freedom” and then they’ll be like “NO actually it’s because psych wards have THOSE crazies in there. the ones that make you realize your problems aren’t that bad after all :-)” and you’re like ohhhhhh so what i’m hearing is you need to be beaten with rocks👍 got it
person with depression who checked themselves into inpatient for suicidal ideation i promise you have much more in common with the patients who are actively hallucinating than any of the “professionals” there who are getting paid to play police brutality against a vulnerable population
if your animal is lying on the floor, furniture etc, it’s important to take a picture of them. then, if they move or shift in any way, it’s important to take another picture. with this technique, you can take many pictures of your animal
you won't believe the weather we've been getting [remembers to avoid giving away my location] the sky was turned to darkness and the moon to blood, and the stars fell from the heavens.
I loooooove getting rejected. People should reject more. It's the "maybes" and ghosting that's just like too much. A firm but polite "no" is infinitely more respectful of everyone's time and feelings. Can we just do that?
You guys know this is a pretty normal human want and not a special accomdation to be saved for people with autism right?
“scientists don’t want you know” is a phrase that always cracks me up because if you actually meet a scientist they will be shaking and crying like an overstimulated chihuahua with the need to let you know

Discussing baby’s future
They are both doing the "I want" chitter. They very much want to get up, but they have a sleeping baby cuddling with them. They must endure, but they will not be silent about it
Well well well, kitties. Looks like you want to get up but there's a little cat on you so you can't. Very frustrating situation there, can't imagine the burden of being held down by a little adorable kittycat. Couldn't, as the kids say, be me.
I don't want my cellphone to have AI I want it to have 3 days of battery time. I don't want my computer to have AI preinstalled I want it to have seven usb ports and high ram at affordable price. I don't want my games to have AI built levels I want them to be so optimized I could run them on a nokia.
I was born in the exact right generation I love being an unmarried woman in my twenties with my own bank account and no children
This getting reblogged with “and my thirties” “and my forties” “and my fifties”
Yeah, it's kind of funny that a lot of companies are now re-hiring junior programmers to save on LLM credits, but it's not surprising. From a pure line-goes-up perspective, working people to death is almost always better than automation. That isn't an indictment of LLMs in particular – it's just how this shit works.
Like, yeah, joke about the "self-driving car" service that turned out to be employing remote drivers in the Philippines if you want, but it's not only a tech grift; the fact of the matter is that even if the technology was there, making that guy in the Philippines pull sixteen-hour shifts with no bathroom breaks until he dies of a bladder infection is almost certainly cheaper than "real" AI would be, and that's the actual reason they do it. They wouldn't deliver on their promises even if they could.
