do fic readers know that their comments actually influence the course of the story sometimes? i don't mean in a "you need to write it this way because i say so 😡" type of comment, i mean when people are asking questions or really engaging with the plot and the themes in the comments they sometimes bring up things that i didn't even think of, or dig into parts of the story that i've overlooked, or get really interested/fixated on something i was going to just kind of glance over--and it has me going 'oh wait that's actually really interesting, that's a good point' and fully adding or tweaking or changing things about the story going forward. i'm literally adding an entire additional chapter to something right now because someone's comment had me like "oh i didn't dig into that as much as i could have." you have impact!
Reblogging cuz I’m once again in the middle of adding an entire new plot arc to a fic because of a comment - and you know what, it made it better!
like to charge, reblog to cast.
Paz Socorro is turning in her grave whenever someone presents her as somehow morally pure or as having taken an issue with Quaritch's treatment of the Na'vi istg. For all we know that woman was just as loyal to the RDA as her baby daddy and we gotta start to recognise that more.

hey. it’s mullivaikkal remembrance day. it is a day to remind us how the sri lankan government committed genocide against tamil people and it should be talked about. dropping these links here for more awareness.

i do not understand at all how the leadership succession works in the avatar universe and this is something i have to accept about myself <3
I’ve always interpreted it as ‘leaders are chosen based on capability’ with kids of Olo’eyktans and Tsahìks having more capability than others simply because they’ve been taught/have a direct role model in their parents. We’ve seen a lot of different pairs for leaders (parent-child, siblings, mated pairs, independent leaders that carry both roles) and whilst mated pairs seem to be the ‘default’ so to speak, they’re not the only option. As far as I’m aware neither role is gendered, and we’ve seen female Olo’eyktan (even have a term in lìfya leNa’vi for it: Olo’eykte) and leaders who are both (I think Varang may fall into this category since there’s no mention of anyone else leading beside her) but not male Tsahìk.
The Omatikaya’s leadership is the most in depth and unique we’ve seen: I’ve gotten the impression that Tsu’tey was chosen as Olo’eyktan instead of say Neytiri (who is both a powerful warrior and a daughter of an Olo’eyktan and Tsahìk pair) because he was in love with and worked well with Sìlwanìn. Once Sìlwanìn was killed he was kept as Olo’eyktan instead due to his own merits alone, just like how Tarsem and Jake would be chosen for their merits over a surviving daughter of the past Olo’eyktan. But there also exists tension in clans on who the ‘correct’ successor is, as seen with Artsut wanting Arvok as Olo’eyktan over Jake, even if Arvok was still a teenager. Mated, sibling or familial pairs may be preferred over two random clan members becoming leaders, simply because the Olo’eyktan and Tsahìk will have to be able to collaborate and work as one, which is much easier when you’ve already got a bond to rely on. It does make me wonder if arranged marriages (e.g. Tsu’tey’s betrothal to both Sìlwanìn and Neytiri) are more common than we’ve seen, with future leaders growing up knowing and learning the other person they’ll lead the clan with in the future, barring extenuating circumstances.
This is all to say that James Cameron plays very loose with the Olo’eyktan and Tsahìk roles, and they don’t have the rigid structure many leadership roles do in our world - which, in my opinion, makes it very interesting.
u should draw baby lo’ak and jake 🥹🫶
got rlly emotional drawing this like ohhh thats his mini me... thats his baby.
What they don't tell you about writing is that as you write, you discover scenes and entire plots that you hadn't accounted for that need to be written. So you can spend two hours writing and editing only to realise you're further away from the finish line than you thought you were when you started
things that always make me happy: serial commenters. there are three types
1) reading a longfic chapter by chapter, leaving an increasingly emotional comment on every chapter, descends into keysmashes near the end: outstanding
2) read one fic by accident, clicked the author name, now working steadily through the backlog and commenting on everything, I wake up to an AO3 inbox full of enthusiasm: precious beyond words
3) the longterm serial commenter whose comment begins with I don’t even know this fandom but because they have followed me from somewhere else: stunning. humbling. magical.
these are all *chef’s kiss* and I want to add one more: 4) left a comment a while ago, comes back and leaves another comment on the same fic, telling you that they’re coming back to reread the fic: angels. blessings. lifesavers.
I owe all 4 my actual life
I don't think I've ever posted this oc here, but... have these
Visual Dictionary Entry: A'ekir
or should I say inspired. these are certainly equally text based as they are visual. but this was the prettiest way to put his lore together, so I opted for being text heavy.
hopefully I caught all my typos... also praying I can one day take higher resolution pics of his songcord (that I wove entirely myself and is like 7 feet long and I'm so proud of it oh my gods) so I can upload it, in picture format, in higher quality.

I have a folder for my favorite ones that are very encouraging and I love to look back on them, so I was wondering if other people do this :> they truly can make the day of someone who’s work you enjoy (AO3 & tumblr are examples of timeless places, so it’s never too old or too late, if you’re worried 💜)
