What's the difference between 大袖衫 and 褙子?
In most generic sense in the modern times, 大袖衫 is a Tang-style unlined (衫) outer jacket with wide sleeves (大袖). Other characteristics includes collar that runs to the bottom, no ties (most of the time), long length (mid-calf or longer) and it used to have no side vents in the early days, but I think now they do.
On the other hand, 褙子 refers to a Song-style parallel-collared outer jacket, which can be lined or unlined. Technically, 褙子 has be have decorative collar and stuff, and should be long (mid-calf or longer), as it is a formal wear, but people may used it interchangeably with any parallel collar with full collar that runs all way down, with side vents. The sleeves of 褙子 are generally narrow, straight or slightly flared.
