I'm a debut queer indie author now~
Folks have enjoyed my writing; that gives me great joy. However, most writing I've ever shared here has been fanfiction. (Which will be worked on again in the future when my life allows it.) But we live in late stage capitalism and that necessitates focusing on creative work I can actually, theoretically, make some slivers of income on. So, I made the effort and took the plunge--and I am now Quinn C. Chonk: a self-published fantasy romance & erotica author! The Wanton Witch & the Werewolf is made to be fun, cozy, and spicy, mixing slice-of-life storytelling with indulgent intimacy and deep worldbuilding. Characters are diverse in both body types and queerness. I wanted to write what I enjoy reading; it squeezes me into a particular niche, but it also allows me to craft stories I'm passionate about which ultimately improves the writing itself. The novella itself has a curvy witch protagonist, campy crystal sex magic, a friendly trans man werewolf, and rural festival shenanigans. It's the first in my planned Aetherial Afterglow series set in the fantastical world of the Aer Isles that will have a chronological standalone string of tales following the witch Orrla. I'm thrilled to have completed this first novella. It was published a little over two weeks ago as of this post made not long into 2024. Self-publishing, however, is extremely difficult (as most know or can imagine, I'm sure). My professional skillset is firmly in the creative aspects of writing. Marketing? Self-promotion? Business stuff? Deeply difficult for me and my neurodivergent brain. The only way I know how to even try to self-promote is this kind of earnest, personal self-sharing. I cringe and struggle with any other kind. So, here I am, making a deeply sincere post. I want to announce to friends & the world at large that I have a story available to share. (It's free for Kindle Unlimited users and just $2.99 USD for others.) I'm proud of the work I did, both the writing (of course), but also the cover I designed. Reaching readers--and receiving honest, freely given reviews--is the current massive hurdle I face. If folks could please share this post in hopes of reaching audiences who would enjoy this e-book, that would be a great blessing for a writer like myself who just entered the professional self-publishing world at the very end of 2023. Thank you, thank you, thank you to these friends and peers, who either directly or indirectly inspired me in my writing life that helped me get to this point in my literary journey: @talkingsoup | @mobiusscarf | @amorphousturtle | @parker-of-loxley | @otemporanerys | @yellingaboutmasseffect | @c-rowlesdraws | @seealandraw | @angstyastro | @persephiroth | @defo-not-a-cop
