I really don't know how to put this out, I'm not great at asking for help like this and I know spare money's tough to come by. Still, after about 14 years of HRT and struggling, I'm finally very, very close to getting my top surgery done, and I could really use just a little help to get me over the line with my funds. I recently had to give up my previous surgery slot for financial reasons and, well, that really sucked. Thank you so so much!! I would heavily recommend learning art/painting fundamentals, I learned entirely from the internet save from a few books I bought (bridgman's life drawing book was super helpful for me) and just kept on making art! I also would recommend this video by Stephen Travers art! And a bunch of other artists too, just off the top of my head; Stephen Bauman's playlists on drawing fundamentals, block ins, and educational videos. Marco Bucci's playlists as well! And foster a joy of learning and just watch whatever pops up that interests you! ^__^

That being said I wanted to try to make some sort of very general guide on how I go about rendering specifically, I did try my best to explain but it was difficult for me to articulate. ;;o;; Hopefully it still makes sense regardless!

Here you can see what my layers end up looking like in an actual painting. It's a lot of making new layers and merging them down once I'm satisfied with how it looks.

Fyi this isn’t a dig at people who are asexual or sex-repulsed. Gay sex was literally a criminal act in the parts of the United States Texas until 2003. A healthy relationship to both sex and your body is a major component of the human experience, but especially LGBTQ+ people. Yes this includes people who have a healthy understanding of their boundaries with regards to sex. To try and divorce the fight for LGBTQ+ rights from sexuality is both dangerous and ahistorical.

The “sex” stripe isn’t “have sex.” Mainstream society has no problem with people having sex. We don’t need a flag to declare our right to have sex.

The stripe means “have the sex you want to have, with the people you want to have sex with.”

And that includes “no sex, with no people.”

Younger queer people need to realize that the SOR being used against queer people simply for being queer isn’t some ancient history thing. It still impacts queer people today. And it can quite easily be used that way again.

When you hear people throwing around the talking point of “well there’s a high rate of sex offenders in the trans/queer community”, this has to do with why.

Being on the sex offender registry isn’t inherently equivalent to whatever horrific sex crime you’re meant to think of when it’s mentioned. It evokes imagery of pedophilia and rape, but there is a lot that can get you put on it and not a lot you can do to be taken off of it.

Public crossdressing used to be able to get you put on the sex offender registry (and by used to I mean as recently as 2011).

Public urination (you know, the literal only option for someone who’s homeless and doesn’t have access to public bathrooms, a venn diagram where trans people are more likely to rest in the meeting zone) can get you put on the sex offender registry.

Sex work is pretty much an automatic way to end up on the sex offender registry if you’re caught. (This is especially weaponized against black trans women who do sex work)

“Deviant Sexual Intercourse” (aka literally any sexual activity aside from penis-in-vagina penetration) could get you on the sex offender registry as recently as the early 2000s. That effectively impacts the entire queer community in one way or another.

The sex offender registry is, first and foremost, useless. It tells you nothing about what someone did. It’s mentioned to quickly associate a person or a group of people with the worst possible crimes imaginable.

It has been used against us time after time and it will continue to be used for that.

Also, if you’re even a little concerned about getting a hump or having trouble standing fully upright in your old age, this is how you prevent that. If you want to be up and about when you’re old you have to start when you’re younger. And keep in mind there is no bad time to start and it’s never too late. Starting today is way better than never starting at all.
