😩 One of these days, a Marvel writer will come along & elevate my Inhumans faves without trying to come for our besties, the Mutants.
I really do want the Inhumans to be great (and I enjoyed a great deal of what we got during that recent push). Still, that era also put their goals at odds w/ the mutants (😩 literally I v X), and that was just setting them up to inevitably fail with a lot of X-Men fans.
No matter how often it was stated or displayed outright that Mutants & Inhumans begrudgingly aimed for a mutually beneficial solution to the Terrigen Cloud, fans knew the 'behind the scenes' planning that went into a lot of what was shown on comic panels. Marvel wanted to spite FOX for having X-Men rights & Inhumans PR took a huge hit for the Mutants' suffering.
The Inhumans' stories absolutely didn't need to be in conflict w/ the X-Men/Mutants in order to be good, interesting, exciting or cool.
Sadly, though, Marvel chose to go that route, so they spoiled any hope for the Inhumans to gain significant fandom goodwill for years to come.
I'd love if Marvel attempted a new Inhumans push sooner rather than later, but imo, a prime time to try a better Inhumans comic fandom push would be around the time the Fantastic Four movie comes out (Inhumans & F4 have decent history together).
And have them be allies w/ the Mutants, too, this time. Acknowledge previous conflicts, but also call back to old alliances & establish newfound respect, like Marvel is doing w/ this recent Avengers + Mutants cooperative push.
Maybe I'm too optimistic & naïve, but imo, fans shouldn't have to feel pushed to choose between siding w/ one team or the other, let alone one species over the other.
