What if everyone survived the battle of five armies and bilbo stays in Erebor because- Bagginshield, of course.

And Everyone is happy and all is well. Thorin isn't a gold hoarding Bastard so all is great. All is great... right?

Of course.

Instead of gold he is now just hoarding his loved ones. He has like a common room in the royal halls, to have like mandatory evenings where everyone has to be there. No paperwork is getting them out of it. They just have to do it there if really necessary. No duties, he said so, and he is the king so they can't argue.

I'm currently suffering in the middle of a heatwave so now im deciding whether or not these Lotr/Hobbit characters would survive anything above 36°C…

ARAGORN -

Yes, Would probably complain a little but would ultimately survive if he decided to take some of his layers off. Would probably know what to do in case of heat exhaustion / heat stroke.

BOROMIR -

Mabey. Honestly im not sure about him. Would probably survive if he stayed inside and out of the sun but I also feel like he would ignore his own symptoms of heat exhaustion...

LEGOLAS -

Probably yes, we know elves apparently don't have as much trouble in the cold so im just gonna assume the same goes for heat.

FRODO -

Absolutely not, he steps out into the sun and dies immediately. His dark hair would just invite even more heat.

SAM -

Yes, he is a gardener and has probably worked in hotter weather. Not to mention he would probably keep an eye on everyone else to make sure they stayed in the shade and drank enough to stay hydrated.

MERRY & PIPPIN-

Mabey, they would probably find the nearest stream or lake and jump in. Probably would get sun burnt tho.

GIMLI -

Yes, im just going to assume that because he is a dwarf, that he would be kinda okay with heat. He probably helped out in forges and knows his limits quite well. If he would listen to those limits depended entirely on whether he notices himself or someone else points it out.

GANDALF -

Yes, im not sure that the heat would even register for him. And if it did he probably wouldn't care much.

THRANDUIL -

Yes, the same as legolas, he would probably not be affected (effected? Which one is the correct one?). Would probably just sit on his throne and sip wine or something.

BILBO -

Yeah, he would probably be the kind of guy to be really cautious about the heat. He would make sure to stay in the shade or inside with lots of hydration.

THORIN -

Yes, again- we saw him work in forges before. Those get disgustingly hot, especially during the summer. He would probably survive.

FILI -

Yeah, I feel like Fili would have helped his uncle out sometimes and he probably made most of his own weapons in the forge. He would probably not handle the heat as well as perhaps thorin but he would survive. He is smart enough to stay in the shade.

KILI -

Mabey... Honestly, I think Kili would be more of a hunter. He would probably be outside far more than his brother, he would also not stay in the shade as much because "what could possibly happen" only to later suffer the consequences of heat exhaustion and a sunburn.

BALIN -

Yes, he would definitely suffer a little with the heat but would ultimately be fine. He would also be someone to remind others to drink enough during those times. Would probably just sit in the coolest part of the mountain and do his own things.

DWALIN -

Yes, and he would make it everyone's problem. He would probably call people that suffer weak but at the same time would make sure they don't actually die from it. Imagine very aggressive reminders to hydrate.

Might make a part two with more characters later.

I want a universe where Bilbo stays in Erebor and basically adopts Fili and Kili. To the point where he will even defend them to Thorin, despite absolut knowing these little shits are in the wrong! (Just because he can. And he likes to annoy Thorin.)

And all because they both started to call him uncle too. Thorin had no idea they did that until one day that Kili just yells

"thanks, uncle boggins!"

Before running off as Bilbo gets him out of, another, situation his own stupidity got him into in the first place!

And Dís having raised those two is more than happy to have them annoy someone else for a change. Besides she loves seeing her brother suffer (affectionately).

Balin and Dwalin just find the whole thing hilarious, much to their kings annoyance.

Fili is a bit more reserved than Kili about the chaos but he readily joins his brother in mischief if the chance arises!

I keep thinking about the fact that Thorin probably thought Kili had survived.

He saw Fili die, they all did. But Thorin most likely thought that at least kili would still have a chance to survive the battle. He didn't see him in his final moments, he was busy with his own fight against Azog.

What did he feel when he got to Mahal hall's and saw both of his nephews already waiting there for him...

Would he feel disappointed? Angry? Perhaps even guilty? Or sad?

So ive been thinking-

We all know thorin got lost twice in the shire alone and lets assume that the trouble with directions and stuff got inherited.

What if his father didn't return because he was killed (he was, im pretty sure, but this might just be funnier) but simply because he got so miserably lost on his way that he simply gave up to come home???

Question is tho, have fili or kili the same issue? Or is it just one of them? Or both of them?

What if you leave all three durins alone in the wilderness? Would any of them make it home?

Well I feel like, yeah, if only out of spite. And they would probably pretend like they simply took the more scenic route when asked-

Honestly I would find it so funny if kili was considered weird by dwarven standards-

Like, he didn't have braids nor beard really- and used a bow most of the time-

And he had the hots for an elf... (even if its just in the movies)

The same goes for legolas btw-

Now we all know that Legolas was considered weird for an elf...

And he did kinda take his dwarf with him to the undying lands, like come on- who you think you're fooling-

I just want those two weirdos bonding over the fact that both are considered weird and that both dont give a shit about it. T^T
