So I’m back on tumblr after being away for over a decade. People say it’s good again and I’m in need of some community and memes once again. Hi, I’m Emry. I’m 31, transmasc nonbinary, dyke, a parent and engaged to a beautiful trans woman. They/them pronouns although I do occasionally use he/him.

A little about me:

- I have a degree in creative writing and am currently exploring starting a masters degree next year. I’m currently working on a novel outline and dabble in poetry.

- I used to be a librarian and hope to return to that line of work one day because I believe libraries truly are the backbone of society.

- I’ve always lived within walking distance to the sea and couldn’t imagine living any other way.

- The highlight of my month is my local queer book group held at my favourite vegan cafe.

- I’m autistic and was only diagnosed a few years back but boy does it explain a lot.

- I met one of my best friends on tumblr back when I was about 16. She lives in America and hopefully soon we’ll finally meet irl.

- I’m really into crochet. I can also knit and am working on improving my sewing skills so I can make even more ugly shirts to adorn my body.

- I’m obsessed with My Chemical Romance. I’m also very into folk punk as a genre and love going to gigs when life allows.

I can't believe this is how I'm finding out that I got a scam forklift cert.

I took the cargo ops class at school but my teacher explained that it doesn't give a certification and I'd only be okay for ship's crane and the school forklifts. she said I could take an online exam and get my cert. I paid 60 bucks.

I'm googling and I'm seeing a lot of resources saying that the online programs cover the classroom part of the exam but not the in person practical aspect.

the back of the card even had fancy numbers on it. I couldn't have known that this isn't the one. this website sounded more official than certifyme.net, and there wasn't one with a .gov address.

so, I emailed OSHA, and they said that so long as I live and work in California, there's no such thing as forklift certification. I have to be told how to do it every time I get the job.

Update: I took a certification class in shipboard Material Handling Equipment at my federal job. *now* I'm forklift certified, but only on ships and piers and only for this company, but also rated to forklift explosives and hazardous materials. Also I'm a woman now.
