What exactly is the problem with Supergirl(2026)? Seriously what’s wrong with it that got people all riled up? You’re telling me that EVERY SINGLE movie with a female superhero lead is bad? Where was this energy when ant man and the wasp quantumania or Thor love and thunder came out? Only supergirl and the Marvels get this treatment? Not the movie where this abomination exists:

Seriously. Was Paul Rudd compared to a caveman in 2023? Was Hemsworth criticized for his personality?

Speaking of what even was so horrible about the marvels? Was the fact that 3 women who had to save planets and navigate their friendships with each other too infuriating? Is it the fact that neither the marvels nor supergirl had a male romantic love interest or even a male main character at all?

"Luke proved that attachment was a good thing and that the Jedi were all dogmatic and wrong"

is a take that fundamentally misunderstands both Luke as a character and the entire point behind Star Wars and the Jedi religion.

Luke didn't act out of attachment. If he did he would have killed Palpatine and Vader in a desperate attempt to save his friends.

Let's actually compare this to mister attachment aka Anakin, shall we.

If Anakin was in a position where some guy (for example Dooku) was responsible for Padmé, Obi-Wan, Ahsoka, Rex etc. being in current life threatening danger, he would have killed that man and anyone who stood in his way. If there was another guy claiming to be his father that might have thrown him off for a bit but in pure rage and terror of what might happen to the people he loves he would have 10000% killed him, father or not (he literally tries to kill his surrogate father / brother out of attachment and greed and later succeeds IN THE MOVIES).

Luke however chooses AGAINST acting out of attachment. He doesn't let his fear for his loved ones control him. The literal moment he crashes out and eventually almost kills Vader is when Vader mentions Leia. His attachment to her led him to react with rage in a desperate attempt to protect her but then he realizes that that's WRONG. That he's playing into Palpatine's hands and giving himself over to the dark side, so he stops. He chooses not to become what Anakin let himself be turned into.

Luke's motivation for saving Vader is not attachment - it's compassion.

Attachment is to act on behalf of yourself. Attachment is choosing your own feelings over what the people you love would want. Attachment is sacrificing everything your wife stood for, choking her to unconsciousness because she doesn't react the way you want her to and trying to kill your own brother out of greed and jealousy. Attachment is selfish love - love that is about YOU and not the people around you.

Compassion is SELFESS love. Compassion is choosing others over yourself. Compassion is valuing the ideals and wants of the people you love - not just wanting to keep them by your side at all cost. Compassion is tossing away your lightsaber and letting yourself get tortured and almost killed because you REFUSE to act out of attachment and let anyone be hurt but yourself. Compassion is also to sacrifice yourself to save your child even though it gains you neither a better future nor him staying in your life.

Luke's compassion motivated Anakin to act out of compassion as well. That's what the movie is about, guys.

Why the main characters in Wicked are perfect in the sense that none of them could’ve prevented the outcome: Part 2

i said it before and I’ll say it again: i love them no matter what

Glinda Upland, richest girl in town, believed that knowledge without fame was useless. The story proved her right in a way that hurt her the most.

She lived a very sheltered and comfortable upbringing, had everything that Elphaba didn’t except magic. She grew to learn that it didn’t matter, as long as you are loved, you will get what you want. That is, until she went to college and met the strangest girl she had ever seen in her life who was her total opposite in nature and appearance. This time, this green girl got what Glinda wanted desperately: Lessons from Morrible. This green girl became Glindas closest friend, a surprising dent in her “perfect” life. However just as she tried to teach Elphaba about the value of popularity, Elphaba decided to impart her own wisdom, both to no avail.

When she met a prince, that was also a tool for her popularity:

“ You’re perfect”

”You’re perfect”

“So we’re perfect together”

And at the crucial second, she chose comfort and fame over her best friend who would be hunted and hated. Glinda was correct, but not right. Her public skills and activities did make her an important part of government, just not an impactful one. On the outside, she had the life she always dreamed of, her own suite, power, parties, and a royal wedding(never mind that the prince left her at the altar for her best friend who was an extreme activist and a criminal). Despite shaking hands with those in power, she lost two of her closest people: Elphie and Fiyero. That’s when she realized that maybe popularity wasn’t everything, but it was already too late.

Why the main characters in Wicked are perfect in the sense that none of them could’ve prevented the outcome: Part 1

Disclaimer: I love Elphaba and Glinda to death

Let’s begin with Elphaba. A girl who’s been an outcast her entire life. She doesn’t have what it takes to be “popular”, not with her physical characteristics nor with her personality. Yet her greatest desires included pride from her father, having friends, meeting the wizard, being de-greenified, loved, paraded and celebrated for her goodness. The person she believed Madam Morrible to be made those dreams not come entirely true, but plausible. So when her beloved professor said “Her green skin is an outward manifestoruin of her twisted nature”, how do you think the girl who finally had what she wanted felt like? Glinda kept insisting that no, if you come back and say sorry, they’ll forgive you. Maybe Glinda was right, maybe Elphie could’ve been popular and achieved her goals. But Glinda wasn’t ostracized her whole life, she doesn’t feel what the animals are going through and she certainly does not get why Elphie is refusing. She flies away and lives as a wanted criminal. Believing that her extreme methods could solve the problem. What Elphaba doesn’t get is that attacking construction convoys wont win over the public’s favor, it all comes down to the way your viewed and not about aptitude. That’s what “killed” her, her lack of popularity and her unwillingness to stand beside a lying wizard who cages a significant portion of the Ozian population.

Of course, Elphaba trusted herself and made the morally right decision, but without popularity, it did not do her any good

What if Grace didn’t ask Rocky or the Eridians for the biodome, as in he was content with whatever they gave him and didn’t make any special requests. Instead, Rocky did research on his laptop about the best scenic locations on Earth, took note of what his friend Grace liked the most in the Don’t go crazy room, determined the exact amount of space a human would require to be happy and the perfect temperature of the sea and the wind and the fog and everything else. He also looked up the ancient custom of surprises in human tradition. After all, when they were first getting to know each other, Rocky filled the tunnel with Oxygen so Grace could breathe, so its not out of character for him to go to great lengths for Grace and that he could have the best possible life on Erid. The Eridians would be more than happy to help, because it meant respecting Rocky and Grace, the Eridian and the strange but kind alien that saved their planet and their lives. So imagine Ryland Grace expecting nothing when Rocky says “Come with me” and he is lead to a beautiful enclosure that has a house and the sea and everything he missed and yearned for. Things he never expected to see or feel or hear or touch or smell again. And he cries and hugs rocky and just feels the sand and runs and crawls and moves as fast as his spaceship-accustomed body will let him. Rocky knows to let him have his “moment” and stays quiet. He knows that Grace is happy, and if Grace is happy, so is Rocky.

Luke Skywalker vs the sequels

Let’s talk about Luke’s behavior in the sequels. Other than Padme, Luke was the only person who believed Anakin could turn back, even Obi Wan believed he failed. Despite all that Vader did, Luke brought him back. So why did he act that way towards Ben Solo?

From what I remember, Snoke/ the dark side was whispering to Ben, slowly turning him. Luke sensed that, and his immediate reaction was to:

pull out a lightsaber on his teenage nephew in the middle of the night

This action jumpstarted Ben’s turn to the Dark side. He murdered the other Jedi students and took off. Luke later did admit his fault and showed regret, but the damage was done.

What would the real Luke Skywalker do?

Luke and Leia are literally the galaxy’s new hope (it’s in the title). They persisted and believed. Luke believed that his father was still good, Leia believed that evil can be destroyed. Luke Skywalker would never have attempted to attack his nephew, not until he was sure that there was no looking back. Obviously Ben had problems since he killed all the other students, but that doesn’t mean that Luke was justified in what he did. The real Luke would’ve tried to help Ben until the end. He would never give up on him, never disappoint Han and Leia, and most important of all, he would never abandon them out of shame and guilt.

In ESB, against Obi Wan and Yoda’s advice, he left to rescue his friends without completing his training. It turned out his teachers were right and he was unable to help them, but he still fought Vader for them. In ROTJ, when they were flying into Endor, Luke was worried that he might’ve endangered his friends by coming along. Earlier in the movie he concocted a plan a bit ridiculous to save Han, and he succeeded. Even in ANH, when he was still so young he flew along others and blew up the Death Star. Luke never chickened out of fear and he cared for his friends and family very dearly. Luke Skywalker, who was ready to die to save his father, who’s sole role in the entire franchise was to save people, would’ve saved (not tried, he’d do it) his nephew to the best of his ability.

That is not to say that Ben was faultless, he is to be blamed as well.

Rose Tico didn’t deserve all that hate

Even if she was the most horrendous fictional character to ever exist( she most definitely was not) bullying her actress and making her deactivate her instagram solved nothing.

I’m not a rose fan but I’m not a hater either. If she was that bad of a character just let her be!!! Poor girl’s screen time in tros got reduced to basically nothing .

Anakin Skywalker vs “Somehow Palpatine Returned”

Anakin, the man himself, is Star Wars. It doesn’t matter if it’s a show, movie, book, comic, game, or fanfic, Anakin Skywalker will haunt the narrative because everything is about him, as it should be. He is an amazing character, on par with Shakespearean writing. He’s the good guy turned villain with beautiful storytelling. All of that was ruined by the phrase “Somehow Palpatine returned”.

A child slave who longed for freedom for himself and his mother and then eventually gaining a form of it at the cost of leaving his mother behind, Anakin decided to be good. A Jedi knight, still under control of some in power, he fell in love against the law. A ruthless, cruel, and evil dictator still obeying a master, Darth Vader was freed by his own son.

Anakin wasn’t perfect. He was powerful, and that made it easier for him to be corrupted by a man he trusted. A Sith Lord who manipulated him since childhood to be groomed into the most evil being in history. That evil being turned to the light and did bring balance to the force by making sure the Sith Lord never harmed the galaxy again.

“Somehow Palpatine returned” disrespects a man who loved and lost, who protected and killed. After all that Anakin did, bringing back the one demon that enslaved him for his whole life is simply garbage. He threw him down a reactor shaft out of love for his son, knowing he would lose his life in the process. He fell into the man’s trap to save his wife and children. He wouldn’t leave Obi Wan behind on a crashing ship. He was loved by his padawan, his soldiers.

He destroyed his daughter’s planet. He killed millions. Out of rage and hate he force-choked his pregnant wife, slaughtered children who trusted him, murdered the man he once thought of as a father. Luke Skywalker understood that and still believed in him. He was right.

A truly tragic and wonderful character destroyed by a cheap attempt and lack of a plan for a trilogy that undermines his sacrifice.

Invalid reasons to hate the sequels:

Hating Rey being the main character simply because she’s a woman ( people will say they hate her because of her bad writing/ Mary Sue but I will never forget a comment from 2019 saying why does Rey have to be a woman because women already have Disney princesses so keep Star Wars for the men?????? And that’s just 1 example of of thousands)

Hating Rose to the point of bullying the actress and making her deactivate her instagram

Finn rant

This is gonna be a long one and I still can’t cover everything.

Finn is probably the most original and unique character in the entire sequel trilogy and the way his character arc ( if they even wrote one for him) took place was a slight disgrace.

He was taken from his family at a very young age and trained to be a faceless and order-following no questions asked killer. FN-2187 was his call sign, so he had no name. One day he sees his friend killed on the battlefield and realizes the ruthlessness of the first order when he was asked to murder a bunch of innocent villagers. This mission changed his life trajectory and he decided that he would start a new life by doing a good deed: saving Poe.

No hate to Poe or Rey, but compared to them he had one hell of a backstory.

Let’s look at his relationships with other characters and how he was treated in the series. He found Poe, who gave him a name and a way out of the terror. Then he thought Poe died in the crash, which is a really big loss considering the above factors. He found Rey and BB8, who he decided to help reach the resistance. Keep in mind that he thought Poe was dead, so he could’ve just found another way out. Instead he wanted to fight for the cause. When he found friendship in Rey, he was ready to die fighting to protect her from Kylo.

I think in a way the original plan for the trilogy was for him to be the lover boy but that storyline fell off the train like Bucky Barnes. The man was kind, fair and just despite his upbringing.

We all know he was sidelined and John Boyega does too.

Finn is wasted potential. Back in the day people pointed out that large number of his lines was just him screaming REYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!

One reason for the sidelining is probably racism( as said by Boyega himself. Despite being a very interesting character, he didn’t have a satisfying conclusion to his story. His relationship with Rose was thrown away (Rose deserves another rant), and that one plot point in tros where he met Jannah, who was also a stormtrooper that defected from the order, was never explored.

Speaking of wasted potential, there is a deleted scene in TLJ where he confronts and berates Plasma, saying something along the lines of “ When a blaster was pointed to your bucket of a head you screamed like a whoop dog”. Like this dialogue was cut but they kept the porgs and Luke drinking that disgusting milk from whatever that thing was.

I don’t think people would’ve minded if he was the main character instead of Rey (not 100% for a multitude of reasons) because he had a lot of depth and originality to his character, whereas Rey was a tragic desert Jedi like Luke and Anakin.

Note: I just checked on wookiepedia and it says he’s force sensitive?? Not only do you disrespect him by not including that in the movie but you bring it up in a random interview?????

Hux Rant

Its been a while since I’ve seen tros so i might miss a few details.

Armitage Hux was main leader of the First order, not Kylo. Just like the big guy of the Death Star was Tarkin and not Vader. In TFA, Hux was a leader filled with hate and ambition. He wasn’t on the same wavelength as Kylo. In tros he lost his status since Kylo Ren became supreme leader, which lead Hux to leak information to the resistance.

The thing is, even though he hated Kylo with his whole being, it doesn’t make sense as to why he went against the first order, the very thing that gave him all that power. Sure he wasn’t as powerful as before, but working with the resistance brought his demise, as seen in the movie. No matter how anti Kylo Ren he was, TFA Hux would never turn away from the first order. I highly doubt that the resistance would welcome him with open arms.( Finn was genuinely a good guy who turned, and if you bring up Vader or Ben their excuse is “corrupted by the Dark side”). Hux has no excuse as to why he committed those atrocities( all the planets destroyed in TFA for example). So him being the “spy” merely for shock value is a another instance of terrible writing in tros.

Rey Rant

The year is 2019/2020 and I just witnessed Rey kill Chewie with force lightning. For a full 30 minutes I absolutely hated Rey ( I was and still am a staunch Rey defender simply because men hate her, though I acknowledge that she is a very flawed character and a victim of terrible writing) .This simple act made Rey an unforgivable character in my eyes until it was revealed that Chewie was alive and I was relieved.

They should have kept him dead.

Don’t get me wrong, Chewie is everything to me and millions of fans, which is why him being killed by Rey’s hands was such a big deal and it wasn’t even her fault. The drama and tension it added to the movie would have been beautifully and horribly cinematic. By reviving him ( and making Hux the spy but that’s another discussion) they cheapened their entire story and threw away the consequence and curse of Rey being Palpatine’s descendent.

Dare I say this plot point and Finn’s character were the most original things to come out of the sequels.
