Thinking about the cultural shock of eridians hating talking about food, or eating in front of others, within the the context of Bloody Mary. Cuz like grace is a teacher, he’s a very well educated in general but particularly in space and might even have looked into speculative cultures/biology. He’s is also just a genuinely nice and polite guy. So him adapting to eridian food culture makes sense, I think he’d fuck up a bit, eating habits aren’t just a cultural thing for humans it’s ingrained in our biology, but I see him overall being very carfull to be polite ( he’s the impression the eridians get of humans, he can’t let them think he’s rude!)
Simon on the other hand- look, it’s not as if he’s trying to be rude, it’s just- Simon already has a naturally abrasive personality, and growing up in a cult doesn’t exactly give one a deep understanding of different cultures, especially considering the cult emerged from a a lack of resources, where food is incredibly important. He’s just a little bit more careless about it.
So for the eridians the difference between the two humans is a bit of wiplash…
