i want to put my thoughts behind this: this was supposed to be a piece for pride month, titled "you were loved". the sky is the color of the aroace flag (just upside down)!

basically, i wanted to show an aroace person — an old aroace person, to be precise. being aroace myself, i am always told that i will forever be lonely and miserable if i don't get a partner. so showing grace, who is aroace to me, as old and happy and fulfilled and oh so loved by his best friend, was really important to me <3

SERVICE DOG PSA

So today I tripped. Fell flat on my face, it was awful but ultimately harmless. My service dog, however, is trained to go get an adult if I have a seizure, and he assumed this was a seizure (were training him to do more to care for me, but we didn’t learn I had epilepsy until a year after we got him)

I went after him after I had dusten off my jeans and my ego, and I found him trying to get the attention of a very annoyed woman. She was swatting him away and telling him to go away. So I feel like I need to make this heads up

If a service dog without a person approaches you, it means the person is down and in need of help

Don’t get scared, don’t get annoyed, follow the dog! If it had been an emergency situation, I could have vomited and choked, I could have hit my head, I could have had so many things happen to me. We’re going to update his training so if the first person doesn’t cooperate, he moves on, but seriously guys. If what’s-his-face could understand that lassie wanted him to go to the well, you can figure out that a dog in a vest proclaiming it a service dog wants you to follow him

Thank you! I’ve been trying to work more on perspective stuff, I’m glad it’s paying off :D

Here’s how I do perspective on characters (Moon, what a shocker) when I draw them: SHAPES ARE EVERYTHING!! (this is only about the perspective though, so ignore the ‘draw some circles, draw the rest of the owl’ step three)

But really, best advice I can give is to use references while drawing. For the longest time, I never used references because I thought it was ‘cheating’. IT’S NOT CHEATING, no one can memorise how to draw everything and using a reference increases your knowledge on what your drawing a thousand times more than if you were doing it from memory. I spend so long on Pinterest and have tons of bords with cat poses, human poses, inspiration for creature design, etc. Drawing from references gives you a much better idea of perspective and helps you practice it until you can do it more on your own.

A while back I had a 3D digital art phase, in which I made this model in Blender of my early design for Moon, which really helped me figure out how shapes build a character and how perspective would work on them (ignore the weirdly shaded bits on the side of her head, I wasn’t very good at Blender)
