god I just. love ruthlessness as a character trait so much. sexy sexy sexy
this one. absolutely in love with this definition. give me a character who thinks like this and I’ll love them to pieces
Katherine Applegate is fucking hardcore, man.
based on this but I crossed out the rpgs without same sex romance
Useless rpgs recs. Rpgs where you can have a queer romance
(Games I forgot to add: Always Sometimes Monsters and the sequel)
Here is a round-up of all eight of the free digital brush packs that I’ve released so far for Photoshop CC, Clip Studio Paint, and Procreate!
You can download them on this page (click) Type in “0″ for a free download or tip any amount you so desire!
All my brush packs are totally free (tips optional but always very appreciated!) and can be used freely in any work, including commercial work that you profit off of, with no license or credit required. My goal with these brush packs is to make digital painting feel more achievable and accessible - especially painting environments, something I now LOVE but that used to intimidate me, & felt much more approachable with the right tools! Many of the packs also come with tutorial video content. I hope you enjoy!
🍊ME custom head mesh tutorial🍊
welcome gamers :)
here is a tutorial/files set up to create a custom head mesh for shepard. the method used in the tutorial is much simpler than the default replacement and works for male and female shepard.
there is a beginner tutorial and an experienced tutorial included. the latter assumes you are familiar with the LE kit/blender. the former is geared towards beginners without modding/blender experience. it’s very long but it covers every step of making the head and implementing the mod.
this is the process i have come to via trial and error. if you find anything incorrect/obnoxiously circuitous ways of doing things in this guide please let me know so i can update it.
>download here || nexus link for set up DLCs
shepards pictured are @renegonbeatrix @aki-ra-me @purahs @metzlishepard and @luckyspacerabbit
these files do not contain custom meshes. my shepard and other shepards pictured here are not available to download.
I got quite a few DMs over the weekend on twitter asking about my brushes, and as with anything, your mileage may vary, and digital art isn’t made or broken by brushes, but having them never hurt! Talking about how you use your tools is just as important as talking about what tools you use, so consider this a small breakdown of my process for digital sketching.
First thing’s first, I avoid sketching on an untextured canvas. If you like to have a flat, solid canvas, I recommend working at 50% grey, or adjusting your canvas to be slightly off-white. The harshness of black on pure-white can be a hang-up for many people, including myself.
I sketch on paper textures sourced from my own old sketchbooks and papers. The one I use most frequently is available in my Sketchbook Paper Pack, and named Off White.
While a true-to-life pencil look is not what I’m actively going for with my sketches, these papers certainly help achieve it.
I do almost all of my work in Procreate, but learned digital art first in Photoshop. Anything I share here in regards to how I use brushes can be applied to any brush, I’m certain!
For my sketches, you’re seeing the work of one brush and one eraser.
For my brush, I use an altered version of Procreate’s native HB Pencil brush that I’ve named HB Pencil Beefy. It’s available in my 2021 Brush Pack.
For my eraser, I use Alexa Sharpe’s Soft Eraser. It’s available in their Eraser Brush Pack.
I use my brush at pretty consistently set sizes that are based on my standard canvas size, which is 6″ x 9″ 400 dpi or I use a double spread of 12″ x 9″ 400 dpi.
(If you work in pixels that’s 2400x3600 at 400 dpi and 4800x3600 at 400 dpi)
HB Pencil Beefy I use at 4%, 15%, and 50% size, with the brush’s opacity set to either 60% or 15%.
I set the brush to 15% opacity when I want to go in very softly with lots of that pencil texture. I use this when I need to scale back and really rough something out, or if I’m trying to get a sense of volume with some shadows or contours.
With Alexa Sharpe’s Soft Eraser, I use the eraser set at 2%, 10%, and 25% size. I only scale back the opacity on the eraser if I want to take something back to nearly gone, but still want those lines, faint, there as a guideline.
Jumping back to my file setup really quick, I like to work in a digital sketchbook! It’s just a procreate canvas with a paper texture that’s creased down its center, and all the added layers are my pages. This helps me feel less pressured to create something perfect or finished; It gives me the illusion of just noodling in any old sketchbook.
Okay. Back to the pencil. Below, I have a small idea of my process in sketching and drawing. This is not a how-to-draw demo, and it’s definitely not an anatomy demo – it’s just how I approach drawing using this brush. The page below, and the one above, were both done on a 9″x 6″ canvas at 400 dpi.
01.
Loose and light
using brush at 50% size
this brush does have a tilt dynamic, but I’ve never used it
02.
Nastiest phase
building up a little opacity
still only using brush at 50% size
use eraser at 25% size, if at all
03.
start refining
come in with 15% sized brush
at no point do I abandon larger brushwork, it just becomes about more careful and purposeful use
use eraser to hatch and cut back roughs
04.
hello 4% brush my beautiful little boy ♡
hatching in detail
build up opacity, using eraser to bring it back and to carve volume
jump back to larger sizes for larger forms and volumes
fiddle until “finished”
P.S. the liquify tool is my best friend
Oh my gosh. I just found this website that walks you though creating a believable society. It breaks each facet down into individual questions and makes it so simple! It seems really helpful for worldbuilding!
Heads up that this is a very extensive questionnaire and might be daunting to a lot of writers (myself included). That being said, it is also an amazing questionnaire and I will definitely be using it (or at the very least, some of it).
This is exactly the kind of thing I need because I’m not so much interested in worldbuilding, I just need a cool place for my characters to grow and interact in. Gonna try it another night when it’s not almost my bed time.
After having gone snow blind from looking at white houses all morning, I finally came across this beauty, built in 1905, in a refined Edwardian style with elements of the prior Arts and Crafts movement in London. It’s been carefully reno’d- cozy colorful, and a bit moody.
Greeted by a black staircase with an attractive black & white runner. The walls are a sophisticated, moody deep green with black trim.
Cozy and formal navy blue living room. But, there are whimsical touches, such as the pencil drawing over the fireplace.
A black dining room gets lots of light thru floor to ceiling windows and a door to the garden. Plus, a fireplace with a green tile hearth stands out.
Love this feature- windows open from the kitchen to the dining room.
The kitchen is fabulous. Trendy forest green cabinetry and a pink ceiling with a built-in matching pink cabinet.
The kitchen opens to a breezeway that leads to the patio.
Another bit of fun on the stairs - a framed Dracula poster.
Upstairs is a tranquil deep green and black main bedroom.
Beautifully updated bath with deep green subway tile and white mosaics.
A sophisticated nursery in deep blue and black with a stunning fireplace.
These beautiful stairs lead to the attic guest room.
The guest room has been remodeled with two big skylights and window seats, plus a sink.
Patio with stunning gardens.
Further back on the property is a wonderful greenhouse.

For those writing a story set in space…
…looking for good, informative and engaging resource material? Consider Chris Hadfield.
Chris Hadfield is a retired Canadian Astronaut, engineer and fighter pilot, who spent a total of 166 days in space. His method of teaching is sure to keep you up into the earliest hours of the morning.
Linked below are videos he’s participated in:

And in this playlist (linked below) you can find videos he did while on the International Space Station, in which he demonstrates how gravity works onboard the ISS (and space in general).
An Astronaut’s Guide To Life in Space (playlist)
Fun fact, he’s also covered David Bowie’s song “Space Oddity,” even going as far as recording a music video for the song, onboard the ISS! You can check out that video here.
On Masterclass, he’s contributed with 28 videos (7+ hours of content) in which he teaches Space Exploration. You’ll learn everything there is to know about astronaut training, launching rockets, navigating a space shuttle, and spacewalking! DISCLAIMER: Masterclass is not free. This material you have to pay for.
Last but not least, in 2013 he released a book called An Astronaut’s Guide to Life on Earth, which I also recommend.

i also have collections for character inspo, places, nature, lifestyle, food, and tons more!
There was a wall here once. The tree remembers, but now the wind blows through roots that once nestled among stones.
climbing through that gap will DEFINITELY take you somewhere Else
When writing couples, I like to use the Kiss Rule:
If they have to kiss for you to know they’re in love, you’re not writing a romance right.
I couldn’t agree more with this. As someone who has been married for 7 years (together for 9), kissing hardly proves anything of love, at least on its own. The starry-eyed lover type of intimacy is cute, but using it exclusively is like eating fondant off a cake. It’s sweet, looks polished and pretty, but lacks robust the flavour of combined elements — fillings, frosting, toppings, and the cake itself.
It’s gestures often overlooked, silent acts of respect without calling attention to them. Subtleties mixed with the obvious.
The good, bad, and the ugly.
playful banter, ribbing, insults/backhanded compliments
recognising ticks/tells and how to respond (e.g. specific throat clear before they speak)
tolerating inconsequential bad habits (e.g. puts dishes beside dishwasher, not in it)
listening to the same stories multiple times as if they were new
developing similar quirks (e.g. particular laugh)
inside jokes
mock fighting, mini competitions
blatant honesty, humble apologies, knowing when to drop an argument
saying nothing/talking for hours
tending to illness or injuries
pokes, pet/pats, head/shoulder bumps, bites, tickles, cuddling, long gazes, stroking hair
grooming, restraighten clothing, touch up hair, brush off crumbs
singing and dancing together
understanding your partner’s hurt rather than just apologising
trust and respect
knowing how to cheer the other up, how to piss them off, humour them
reassurance (e.g. I’m here to talk, you’re doing a great job, your insecurities don’t define you)
associating sights, smells, touches, songs, phrasing, etc with them (e.g. “I saw a pigeon today and thought ‘is this my partner?’”
hating dumb things they do, but finding them hard to live without and secretly loving them
compromising, sacrificing, reciprocation
Love is unspoken, tolerant, and a spectrum of emotions.
It’s accepting that you’ll fuckin’ hate their entire being at times, exclaim with vitriol, “god, you’re so fucking annoying” while you smile and know that it’s trivial in the grand scheme.
It’s real. It’s healthy. It’s fun. That’s what I try to encapsulate in my sappy romantic fiction because realistic fluff is so much more gratifying.
I hope this helps.
the only real good ship dynamic: tragic hero x person with genre awareness
oh to walk blindly into ruin and have someone who would follow, even with their eyes open, because they cannot bear to let go of your hand
I will continue to build upon this list as time goes on. For now, I hope you find something useful!
