can i just say that it kind of really irks me that discussion around reproductive healthcare is always so cis-centric
as a trans person it’s really upsetting to see people talking about things that i experience and attributing it to only cis women. it’s an incredibly painful reminder that i will never be seen by society as being enough.
What’s more important: talking about and working towards changing the fact that abortion is still illegal in 26 countries (to name just one of many reproductive healthcare issues targeting females exclusively) or validating your identity?
Like we’re about to lose roe vs wade but let’s drop actually fighting to keep safe abortion a reality in the US just to coddle you so you don’t experience ego damage because that’s what’s really important.
“It was cool until it was ME”
“It was cool until it was ME”
“It was cool until it was ME”
Didn’t care when he was trying to erase black people
Didn’t care when he was trying to erase Mexicans
Didn’t care when he was trying to erase Muslims
Didn’t care when he was trying to erase the poor
Didn’t care when he was trying to erase immigrants
But you care when it’s your turn to be erased… qwhite interesting
fucking REAL funny how jenner didn’t give a shit when kavanaugh was put on the supreme court. he can’t even be bothered to pretend to care about the issues actual women face lmfao
Like real talk, if this were true why do people have to mindlessly repeat it over and over again? I know I’m a woman, I don’t have to wake up every morning and chant “I’m a woman” into the mirror. I guess this is what people trying really hard to convince themselves looks like? Can’t relate.
imagine.
Imagine where we’d be if we stopped admiring a man who drugged and raped a female undergraduate all because he wrote some platitudes on Twitter about women’s equality. Imagine if Tchiya Amet’s dream of becoming the first black female astronaut hadn’t been cruelly ripped from her 30 years ago by a Teaching Assistant who later became America’s most celebrated public intellectual. Imagine if there wasn’t radio silence on the topic since 2014 when Amet came forward with her story.
Imagine.
i was watching testimonies by survivors of sex trafficking, and a lot of them talk about how their captors referred to them as “sex workers” and kept telling them they had to “work” and generate profit if they wanted to eat, if they didn’t want their relatives killed, if they didn’t want to be hit. if a “client” paid for a “service,” they had to give it to him.
work work work work work never rape never prostitution always work, to little girls who had heard of prostitution but never “sex work,” who didn’t know what was happening was illegal, who were told that what was happening was normal, that it would stop hurting eventually because “it’s just work, look at all these other women doing it.”
there was a testimony by a pimp, who admitted to having kidnapped girls off the streets. he said he liked the power of bossing people around. he said he liked having so many “employees.”
normalizing prostitution and using “destigmatizing” language is not a new tactic to “empower” (prostituted) women. it’s something perpetrators of sex trafficking have been doing for years to hide the realities of the sex industry from young girls and keep them from seeing themselves as victims of a crime.
don’t call yourself a feminist if you’re unwilling to see the parallels between sex trafficking and “consensual sex work.”
womens self defense class, 2016
Fucking hell
just let us have things wtf
Sometimes, I think men refuse to give women any privacy amongst ourselves because they are afraid of what we will do while they aren’t looking. They see relations between men and women as a constant battle for dominance, therefor any attempt we make to organize is seen as an attempt to undermine their control over us.
For example, when women take self-defense classes that are specialized for women, we teach each other to: avoid rape, defend against rape, use our lower center of gravity to our advantage, use men’s higher center of gravity against them, to recognize signs of possible violence before the violence begins, to respect ourselves and our instincts, and to not be cowed by men’s attempts to intimidate us with the threat of violence.
To a man who does not want to control women, this is an innocuous set of tools that will never affect him personally because he will never use violence or the threat of violence to control women. If he doesn’t start fights with women, then women will have no reason to finish them.
To a man whose sense of self-worth is dependent on his ability to control and dominate women, this set of skills is a threat that he takes personally.
What I’m trying to say is that this isn’t an attempt to erase women as a class. It’s an attempt to disrupt our ability to protect ourselves from male violence.
Just married!
This is Vivian (91) and Alice (90), and they just got married. They’ve been dating for 72 years, and together they have visited all 50 US states, all the provinces of Canada, and been twice to England. Quote Alice: “We’ve had a good time”.
Correct me if I'm wrong
But a lot of the conflict between transactivists and radfems happens because the former theorize gender as something that is innate and becomes externalized whereas the latter theorize it as something that is external and becomes internalized.
ie. "I am a woman, so I perform femininity" versus "Because I am a woman, I am expected to perform femininity"
TERF Tips #578
We have people in our community that are okay with adult men threatening a 12-year-old trans girl, but you know terfs are never violent and never cause harm to trans people.
Tfw u try to call terfs violent but u urself admit its actually male violence 😰👌👌
You can literally have more than one group of people be violent towards you. Its not that hard to comprehend this.
When have radfems been violent or caused harm to trans people
Telling a boy that he can be feminine and still be a boy isn't a threat but okay
Don't be TERFphobic ✌️
okay which one of you terves made this comment lmfao
