You treated me with a gentle warmth that I had never known before.
3 months of heaven (via stephanieofrp)
“Oh I don’t know, because you love me to death and I’m pretty sure that I’m your favorite person in the world?” Leksei let himself slide a little down in his chair, before running his fingers through his dark hair. His mischievous smile playing across his features
Her eyes squinted slightly at his words. Then she acted as if she was contemplated those thoughts that had exited his mouth. “Love and favorite? I see you overestimate yourself, Leksei.”
“I said I was fine. It’s just a bruise. And before you even ask, I fell down the stairs on accident while I was out of town visiting my friend over the weekend.” She lied. There was no way that Eliza would tell the truth. How could she even begin to say that her best friends boyfriend had picked a fight with her? One she was lucky to get out of with only a bruise under her eye.
“Fell down the stairs, huh?” That was the only question that passed Risa’s mind as she looked at the girl’s eye.
“that’s fascinating. really, truly. care to tell it another time?”
“i’m sorry, are you talking to me?”
“Finally someone who understands me. Let’s get several, shall we?”
“You, my friend, know how to have a good time.”
“you got it. sure as hell not drinking this poison alone.” she grunted, passing the flask along to her.
risa grasped the flask and immediately cringed once she drank from it. “oh god, what is that?”
“…Too bad you haven’t. You seem to be having fun. At least someone in this stinky bar.”
“Alcohol always equals fun in my books.”
“You planned on drugging me? Fuck it, i’ll bite.” he chuckled, grabbing a beer and quickly popping the cap off.
“I told you I wasn’t going to drug you. I don’t know what’s in my drink though.”
“As fun as that sounds, Risa, I can’t drink. I’ve got Janey waiting for me back home and the babysitter’s probably pissed at me because I’m already running late.”
“Oh, I’m so glad I don’t have kids. That’s a handful and a half.”
“Tell me, do you enjoy looking like an idiot on a regular basis?”
“Yeah, it’s a regular part of my day. Gotta keep up my idiocy.”
“Marisa, sweetheart, is everything alright?”
“Define okay.”
“You’re going to be okay, Risa.” Letty carefully wrapped her arms around her friend, hating seeing her in so much pain. “I’m sure he misses you, and is probably sending you photos of stupid things like his room or the mess hall they have on base.” She couldn’t help but let out a small laugh at the nicknames she had picked. “I’m totally going with A1.”
“I know I am.” She said it with as much conviction as she could as Letty wrapped her arms around her. Hugs were never something Risa willingly did, but she never rejected one from Letty. “Of course he does. My charming personality is what he misses most, I assume. Yeah, he sent me a picture of himself. He looks stupid. Because his face is stupid.” Risa nodded her head in agreement with a chuckle. “A1. Good. Tell me how he responds to that. I think it’d be pretty awesome.”
If there was one thing she learned, mixing drinks was asking for trouble so she stuck with the vodka. Pouring herself another drink, she knocked that back before glancing over at Risa. “I do adore you so.” She grinned, at the mention of Maddox she silently wondered when was he going to return. “Is that what you call him? That’s cute. I don’t know what I call Jax, he’s like my boyfriend but not my boyfriend — but then my jealous friend who I love. I don’t know anymore.”
“I love being adored so— so much.” Risa smiled and sat down. “Yeah, he’s my weirdo. Dancing to Spice Girls in our room and stealing my gun when he knows I can’t even be mad at him. I really miss him. It’s so stupid.” It seemed the alcohol was getting to her since she had a few stray tears falling. She quickly wiped them away and then looked at Letty. “You can call him Wonder Bread. Or queso blanco. That could be more fitting. You know, like he’s the sauce or something. A1 is even better. I don’t know.”
“Alright, we’re done talking.” Risa had been there for her so many times before without a question, so Letty was going to do the same. She reached for the bottle, pouring herself some before throwing it back. Vodka had never really been her thing, but it would have to do for the time being.
When Letty grabbed the vodka, Risa caught eye of something else in her house. “Ooh, tequila. They say mixing drinks isn’t good, but I don’t even care.” She walked over to the tequila and picked it up, instantly pouring some into a shot glass. Raising it in the air, she shook her hair out of her face. “Cheers to me being me!” It didn’t even make sense, but nothing she was doing made sense right now. So, with a shrug, she took the shot and brought it to her mouth. She cringed as it went down. “Oh, that’s good tequila. My weirdo must have bought it before he left.”
“Except you didn’t have a drinking problem before Maddox, and I love that show but it doesn’t matter right now. You know he wouldn’t be happy seeing you like this, but I suppose we all deserve a bit of fun from time to time. Wasn’t the main character a druggie for half a season?”
“No, that didn’t apply to me in that way. It’s jsut a similar situation. Except he’s not dead. Yet, at least.” Risa picked up the glass that was in front of her with more vodka and knocked it back immediately. “Oh, that’s good vodka.” She didn’t really want to talk about that show anymore so she didn’t even bother answering the question.
