A quick story to add.
"Meanie! You're Meanie!"
Myungsoo's sharp, angry voice rings in Mira's ears as they and Zoey rush to where Rumi lays sprawled on the ground, one arm still wrapped around him.
The sight of that tiny frame, standing as tall as his two feet of height will allow him, sends Mira's heart into their throat.
Too late. We're too late. I failed them.
They yell Rumi's name in unison with Zoey, and then they're both on the ground- Zoey pulling Rumi close, murmuring soft, worried words. Meanwhile, Mira makes sure to put themselves between their girls and the odious couple still spewing filth.
"Mimi?"
Myungsoo's voice no longer holds the strength he had while yelling. Instead, it trembles, and tears well up in his wide eyes. Mira takes his face in their hands, pressing their forehead to his.
"Yeah, bub." They ignore the tremble in their own voice. "You were so brave."
They can hear Zoey- "Baby, oh baby. Y-You're hurt."
Rumi's hurt. Mira couldn't them there fast enough, and Rumi's hurt.
By now, most of the crowd has their phones out, recording the incident, and Mira can see the old couple- they guess them to be Mi-yeong's parents by what they're yelling- are beginning to retreat, realizing the crowd is against them.
Mira will find out who they are, and ruin them if it's the last thing they do.
"I keep Eomma safe." Myungsoo lifts his chin, and flexes his arms. Mira chuckles, pulling him in for a hug.
"You did, bub. Don't let Abby see those muscles, he'll get jealous."
Myungsoo giggles and buries himself in Mira's arms. "Missed you, Mimi."
"Missed you too, Myungie."
"Mira?"
They look up to see Rumi, and rage ignites in their chest once more. The mark on her cheek is red and angry.
I failed, I failed, I failed.
"Mira." Rumi's voice is soft, pulling them out of their spiraling thoughts. She holds a hand out, beckoning. "Hold us. Please."
Mira allows themself to be drawn into a hug, holding their family close.
They won't fail them again.
Yayyy its finally finished!!!!

What started out as a fanfiction has turned into a comic due to my anxiety abt writing stuff - regardless im thrilled to make something from all the concepts ive been playing with in my sketches :)
A fish swimming in the Great Lakes today may have been alive before many colonial settlements existed in the region.
A new scientific study suggests lake sturgeon may live far longer than previously believed. Using 44 years of tagging and recapture data from five Great Lakes populations, researchers estimated that male lake sturgeon may live 90 to 279 years, while females could potentially reach 99 to 427 years.
For many years, scientists estimated sturgeon age by counting growth rings in fin spines, similar to tree rings. Researchers now say that method becomes less reliable as lake sturgeon age because their growth slows and the rings become increasingly difficult to distinguish. By tracking individual fish over decades, the study offers a new way to understand how long these ancient fish may live.
The findings also align with knowledge long shared by some Indigenous communities, whose oral traditions have described lake sturgeon as exceptionally long-lived beings. In many Great Lakes cultures, sturgeon hold deep importance as part of foodways, seasonal knowledge, and relationships with waterways.
Lake sturgeon were once heavily harvested and treated as nuisance fish in the late 1800s, contributing to major population declines. According to Michigan DNR reporting, less than 1% of historic Great Lakes lake sturgeon numbers remain. Because they mature slowly and reproduce over many decades, recovery takes time across generations.
The study highlights the value of long-term monitoring and collaboration among Tribal Nations, fisheries researchers, universities, and conservation agencies. Protecting healthy rivers, spawning habitat, and connected waterways remains important for the future of this species.

Yeah. Can’t tell you how many things I’ve added to my filters that honestly are fine but I personally have no interest in.
> Get into color grading
> realize every screen displays color slightly differently
> realize every camera captures color a little differently
> realize every format and image editor translates color
> realize every printer deposits ink differently
> realize every kind of paper accepts ink differently
> realize colors look completely different under different lighting conditions
> ok I'm going to do everything greyscale now
> black density changes as ink cartridge depletes and depending on viscosity after multiple prints
> "what color white are you using"

Send me to Mars with party supplies before next august 5th
No guys you don’t understand.
The soil testing equipment on Curiosity makes a buzzing noise and the pitch of the noise changes depending on what part of an experiment Curiosity is performing, this is the way Curiosity sings to itself.
So some of the finest minds currently alive decided to take incredibly expensive important scientific equipment and mess with it until they worked out how to move in just the right way to sing Happy Birthday, then someone made a cake on Curiosity’s birthday and took it into Mission control so that a room full of brilliant scientists and engineers could throw a birthday party for a non-autonomous robot 225 million kilometres away and listen to it sing the first ever song sung on Mars*, which was Happy Birthday.
This isn’t a sad story, this a happy story about the ridiculousness of humans and the way we love things. We built a little robot and called it Curiosity and flung it into the star to go and explore places we can’t get to because it’s name is in our nature and then just because we could, we taught it how to sing.
That’s not sad, that’s awesome.
*this is different from the first song ever played on mars (Reach For The Stars by Will.I.Am) which happened the year before, singing is different from playing
This is humanity
Happy Birthday, Curiousity.
Happy birthday, Curiosity.
Happy birthday, Curiosity.
Happy birthday, Curiosity!
Happy birthday, Curiosity!💕
Happy Birthday, Curiosity
The rover is still operational, and as of August 4, 2026, Curiosity has been active on Mars for 4974 sols (5111 total days; 13 years, 363 days) since its landing (see current status). Via Wikipedia
Please return us to a world where Notp and squick are used for a ship you don’t like instead of just making up a load of bullshit about how immoral it is or w/e lol
a short selection of concepts and phrases that used to be commonplace in fandom and we’d really benefit from making that a thing again:
NOTP: the opposite of an OTP (One True Pairing). It is a ship a fan strongly dislikes. The word is a portmanteau of ‘no’ and ‘OTP’ and thus is not a contraction of any particular phrase.
Squick: anything that is a deep-seated, visceral turn-off. Squicks may be shared by many fans or be specific to one; one person’s kink may be another person’s squick.
YKINMKATO, or kink-tomato: Your Kink Is Not My Kink, And That’s Okay: used to indicate support for fannish diversity and to distinguish between disapproval or kink shaming and simply having different taste.
DLDR: Don’t Like, Don’t Read: a phrase used to warn against complaints about an aspect of fic or meta. A “live and let live” philosophy of fandom, which places the responsability for avoiding content one doesn’t want to see on the side of the fanwork consumer, rather that on the creator’s.
SALS: Ship And Let Ship: similar to the above specifically about shipping tastes.
YMMV: Your Mileage May Vary: a phrase used to acknowledge that any given individual’s personal opinion on the topic at hand may differ due to their own tastes, standards, values, experiences, etc.
As the OP points out, all of these crucially imply no moral judgment of what they’re designing.

bring the healthy fun back to fandom!
need everyone to know that the artist who created this iconic artwork:
is STILL creating wolf art TO THIS DAY. TEN YEARS LATER. proof that the world is beautiful. her username is wolfroad! you can find her art right here, and here are a few of her more recent pieces that I absolutely adore:
checked her page today and I think this might be because of everyone who saw this post and went to support her and show her art some love. the power of spotlighting an artist!! if you know an underappreciated artist, telling people about them could mean the world. [:
apparently ig isn't a fan of 3+ minute long reels, but i kind of wanted to devastate more people with this, so i'm uploading it here! enjoy :)
HOES DEPRESSED!!! Dispatch Intro - By Motion Graphics Designer, Rohan Lorenz
You've been able to understand animals your whole life. Though, to be fair, it's not as interesting as it sounds - it's mostly demands of sex, cries for help, or stuff concerning food. And so it was until yesterday when you overheard two frogs discussing the finer points of quantum physics.
On the day humanity makes first contact, the alien transmission contains only one message: the complete genetic blueprint for a creature that has never existed on Earth — along with a single instruction that reads, "Do not build this. We beg you. This is an example of what is possible."
As an immortal who wants to be more or less peacefully left alone, you stage a death now and again under new identities for sake of appearances. The mortician you've trusted with this secret is one of your only friends, and they had something witty to say this time about your "repeat business."
They called the two of you the Power Couple of the Light when you were the church's highest cleric and strongest paladin. But now, even though you're just as devoted as you always had been, only because of a little bit of death, they call you the Lich King Warlock and the Deathknight Revenant.
the "came back wrong" trope except like... they didnt. like this mad scientists wife died, and so he studied necromancy, brought her back, and she came back and it all worked. like she came back exactly the same as she was before with literally no difference. but the scientist guy is like "oh no... what have i done.... shes Different now!!!! she came back Wrong!!!!" and shes just like. chilling. reading a book. cooking dinner. shes just so so normal but in the guys mind hes like "oh shes soooo weird" but shes just normal

NO its a JOKE and YOU DONT GET IT. ITS NOT THAT DEEP
While she was dead he put his memory of her on such a high pedestal that she could never live up to it alive
alternatively‚ she came back perfectly fine but he thinks she came back wrong‚ because the tragic reality is that he never actually knew his wife
im going INSANE thats MY POST.
It's your post but the journey to posting it changed it to such a degree that even its closest intimacies are now foreign to you. Sorry dude.
