it was 2 am, i was on my lunch break, and i wasn't particularly hungry or, well, that awake at all... i work 3rd shift at a grocery store, stocking shelves and that kind of shit

we have a microwave at work and i put him in the microwave as a bit because i thought it would make for a funny image

and i thought, "hmm if i took the voice box out, there wouldn't be any metal or electronics, so it should be fine just for a funny vid where he spins around and maybe smokes a little"

THAT'S WHERE I WAS WRONG. because there's METAL in the NOSE so you can bend it however you'd like! i didn't really think of that. so he SPARKED AND LIT ON FIRE.

#rebecca sugar has gone on record saying that they knew from the beginning they wanted ruby and sapphire and they put every inch of planning#in to make sure that the studio could not take them out. sugar has said they’d compromised on hundreds of things they’d wanted for steven#so that they had the bargaining power specifically to keep ruby and sapphire’s relationship#and a number of ‘filler’ episodes were created just to establish counter-arguments that might come up when they pitched the wedding episode#the one that comes to mind is the episode about steven and connie getting lost in rose’s room steven’s central conflict about liking their#fave book series’ romantic ending was later weaponised when producer’s were like ‘oh but steven’s a boy he won’t be too interested in them#getting married’ sugar was able to be like ‘no. in this episode it’s established he loves romance and specifically weddings. and in these#episodes it’s shown how much steven cares about ruby and sapphire and their relationship and happiness. you cannot convince me this is not#good and necessary plot development#and they wrapped it up in the season finale and the big climactic point of the diamonds finally coming to attack earth to make the#episode integral to the series no skipping it without confusion. and had ruby wear a wedding dress because international censors took#advantage of her design to give her a masculine va#and sugar made certain that everybody knew This was a queer love story that an entire town supported and admired and that any child watchin#it at home would know they are not alone and that that support is waiting for them out there somewhere#sugar sacrificed the wider story they wanted to tell for that and it was a horrible decision to be given but they made the right choice

In the March-April 1953 issue of the comic book Weird Fantasy, an astronaut named Tarlton is sent to evaluate a planet for inclusion in the Great Galactic Republic. He finds a world which is designed based on Earth’s history, values, and legacy, and populated by sentient robots segregated by color. The robots are identical in every other way. After a thorough review of the education, living conditions and treatment of the “inferior” blue robots, he concludes that this society needs to evolve further to join. The orange robots protest, not understanding where they fell short. But Tarlton assures them that there is reason for hope. Tarlton explains that his world had had a similar history but in time was able to move forward and mend its ways. When the astronaut returns to his spaceship and removes his helmet, we see that he is a Black man. The story, Judgment Day, was a bold and potentially suicidal move for a comic book publisher. In a medium which more often would feature a muscular white super-hero or a funny cartoon animal, Entertaining Comics (EC) placed in one of its science fiction comics a tale in which the only human being is a Black man.

Jonathan Joss was an Indigenous, gay man who was murdered on the first day of Pride month as well as Indigenous History Month. He died protecting his trans husband. Homophobia and racism aren’t marks of the past, and this is a heart breaking reminder of that.

A year or so ago I went to wood carving club with a bruised eye from my dog slamming his nose into my eyesocket and like every old lady there pulled me aside at some point to ask if my partner hit me here are some of the solutions they had in case he did.

-Replacing his vitimens with poision

- getting her brother to invite him out onto his boat and then killing him and dumping him in the ocean and saying he got drunk and fell off.

- get tboned with him in the passenger seat and then once he was in the hospital theres all kinds of easy ways to kill him like not washing my hands after a poop and then touching his wound casually.

-replacing his drink of choice with moonshine!?

- take him on a hike thats locally notorious for a rapid otter attacking hikers and once he had rabies I could just kill him any ol way and say self defense.

-One lady just cheerfully informed me she had a gun and only a few years left anyway

when i was 8 i had a very intimidating russian woman as a music teacher- she was both my opera instructor and piano teacher. about a month into piano, she sat me down and said to my mother and i "this child- very beautiful voice, good for singing. i will not allow this child to continue piano. god did not want this child to play an instrument. he told me this in dreams. that is all."

my mom had it written down on a slip so we could remember the exact words because it was so funny. i HATED playing piano and i was definitely not good at it (i did end up having a good 5 years of opera training and ended up being a pretty accomplished choir singer though) and the idea of god sending my incredibly severe and serious russian piano teacher a dream begging her to stop teaching me piano was probably the funniest way it could have gone.
