Like we did when we were children. Title is taken from Trees by The Oh Hellos.
“What Angel Wakes Me From My Flower" by Elizabeth Shippen Green
The pontiff marked the centenary of the Vatican Publishing House, saying printed books remain a vital “opportunity to think” in the digital
Dare I say. King behavior
I lost a needle I liked in my pincushion so I decided to get a strong magnet and see if I could pull it back out.
I pulled out 68.
I very rarely sew.
This was my grandmother's pincushion. How many were hers?
Finding a 68 needles in a haystack pincushion
Where you would expect to find needles!
AND YET.
(I jibbled out some more so we are at 71 and I can feel at least two more in there by sweeping the magnet across. Now hunting for my strongest one.)
tomato is perfec t size for put needle inside very soft and comfort needle
A friend suggested 'a mimic that eats needles' and I got the most vivid mental picture.
The only thing that has ever improved my mental health in any measurable capacity is making more friends. That's literally it
The way isolation plays on your psyche, and the way that a solid support system can improve your life is insane. One of the worst things that we did as a society is removing most avenues to find this kind of thing, and the over reliance on the idea of getting better on your own
!!!
When I inevitably become benevolent dictator of the entire world, I will make it a law that construction sites must have a sign explaining what they are building.
"only 90s kids remember-" wrong, if you're poor and/or rural enough, old tech and fashion doesn't just disappear when it stops being trendy. We had dial-up until 2012
I know its been said to death at this point but it really is insane the boy mum energy you see in fandom sometimes like "this man has committed literal genocide but thats okay cause hes my baby son that can do no wrong" vs "This teenage girl is kinda annoying and has made some bad choices I think that means she should be tried as an adult"
Im really enjoying reading people's tags of their favourite examples of this happening but this tag in particular is very funny bc prev said they cant think of a good example of the first when Bill Cypher is in the same show
I honestly think it's self-loathing on the part of female fans. A lot of women are uncomfortable with who their teenage self was, do not give their past self any grace, and hate any reminders of their mistakes or annoying (imagined or real) traits.
WILD ISLES 2023・1x01 Our Precious Isles
This is on Apple and narrated by David Attenborough.
maybe if we, as a society, spent more time in gardens things wouldn’t be like this
Pretty sure this is the thesis of lotr
If you had to sing a child to sleep RIGHT NOW what would you sing and it CANT BE a lullaby it has to be a regular song
kay is so inspiring. no matter what painful humiliations he suffers in any given text hes always up and ready in the next one to go forth and bring upon himself completely deserved and embarassing torments
the first time you read the goblin emperor is like huh that was interesting and unique. the second time you read the goblin emperor is like ohhh i get who everyone is now. the third time you read the goblin emperor is like i love maia!! and the fourth time you read the goblin emperor is like oh this is a story about grief. chenelo is 16 when she is forced to marry a man who does not want her, and seventeen when she gives birth to a son no one wanted her to have, and twenty four when she dies in a country that is not her home. this is a story about grief. maia is eight when his mother dies, and he spends the rest of his life missing her. this is a story about grief. arbelan tells no one about the child she looses before it is born, who will do nothing for her but who she wishes she could do everything for. this is a story about grief. even when he is safe, every action maia takes is a flinch, a wince, a stiffening of his body, as if he is always preparing to be hit again. this is a story about grief. this is a story about grief. and about choosing to be kind anyways.
your local anxious president and the overqualified usps guy
