TMNTgust 2026

welcome back to another year! this year i decided to wait until closer to august to post the list (i hope yall dont mind). the prompt list will go after the read more, but before that, lets talk about some FAQs

What is TMNTgust? TMNTgust is a writing event where writers create tmnt fics based on a list of prompts (similar to events like inktober, but for writers). there is a list of 20 total prompts, one for every other day in august and 5 bonus prompts for you to mix, match, and swap with whichever other prompt. each prompt was either submitted by a participant or dreamed up by me.

What are the rules of TMNTgust? the use of AI on any work is not allowed. other than that, there are no rules! mix and match prompts, switch out characters mentioned in a prompt, do crossovers---whatever you'd like! all i ask is that if you post a fic(let) on tumblr (be it the fic itself or a link) that you tag me so i can reblog it!

Can I make art for this instead? absolutely! while the initial intent was for writers, artists are welcome to create for this event as well! just tag this blog with any art you make so i can reblog it!

Where can I post my fics? you can post them wherever you want, but you can also post them here on tumblr, or you can post on ao3 in the TMNTgust 2026 collection. art thats posted to ao3 can also be added to the collection if you so desire.

without further ado, here are this year's prmpts:

TMNTgust 2026 prompts: 1.) Someone who doesn’t know the turtles personally gets to spend time with/gets a new perspective of them.

2.) One of the turtles (or someone they’re close with) keeps a journal. What’s today’s entry look like?

3.) Mikey, who usually goes to another turtle for support, is approached by a sibling to be comforted.

4.) Donnie has a secret and the others plot to get him to share.

5.) One of the turtles thinks there’s something hiding under their bed.

6.) One of the turtles is caught in a storm on their way back to the lair.

7.) One of the turtles is in the job market. Who would want to hire a teenage mutant ninja turtle?

8.) April takes the turtles thrifting (are they in disguise? Is this a mutant accepting establishment?)

9.) Raph helps Leo get past self doubt and believe in himself again.

10.) A Casey-centric episode without the turtles.

11.) The turtles go on an adventurous treasure hunt.

12.) The battle is over, but the turtles still have to deal with the repercussions and the walk home doesn’t sound like fun.

13.) The turtles are trapped and have to rely on their allies to save them.

14.) In the distant future, a group of scientists discover the turtles’ lair, hoping to find a crucial piece of information to aid them (The Batman (2004) cartoon s4e7 is the inspiration for this)

15.) Beach episode!

BONUS: 1.) Leo and Donnie leave NYC to witness a celestial phenomenon of some kind (northern lights, comet, stargazing, etc)

2.) One of the turtles catches a glimpse a creature that should not exist (be it extinct, mythical, or other).

3.) Someone gets hit with a truth spell/serum and cannot stop being brutally honest.

4.) One of the turtles gets detention at school.

5.) Mikey has a go at being a superhero (Again? For the first time?).

huge shoutout to everyone who submitted prompts. no one left their usernames for credit, but i am appreciative of you nonetheless. (and for anyone who was here last year, yes i did reuse a couple prompts. i liked them an no one used them, so they get a second life)

Donatello, the Nightwatcher

While Donatello's skills are as sharp as ever, kept up by his vigilante lifestyle, skills aren't always enough. Not when facing enemies who don’t play fair, fight with numbers, state of the art weaponry, or blessed with powerful mutations. Sometimes a combination or all three. And, without a team to fall back on, Donie has had to rely on his technology. While the Nightwatcher suit 2.0 has some rough edges to it, marked with Donatello's signature cobbled together touch, it is his pride and joy. It is made from the finest things he could gather: state of the art materials stolen from enemies and criminals, reverse engineered kraang technology, and his own tech, all powered by a modified krang powercell. This lets him supercharge the armor if necessary, increasing his strength and speed, and giving him access to even deadlier weaponry. Donnie is tired of people leaving him. So he tries to be independent self efficient, moving and acting in life as if he doesn't need anyones help, doesn't want anyone, depsite the opposite.
