Pixel post dividers for everyone! It's not much, but feel free to use them if you'd like. I don't know the ideal size for these, so let me know if they're too tall. I can make them a bit shorter next time.

what is your LEAST favorite stitch?
I don't like counted work at fucking all. So: the cross stitch.
reading this as someone who does cross stitch but is scared of the other kinds of embroidery is like overhearing an incredibly tall and buff person say they have beef with Mr. Tom, the kitten that chills at the bookstore
FUCK Mr. Tom and his stupid little fluffy tail ok. And his little charted designs.
Okay, but this neglects the true villain of embroidery stitches: the French knot
Don't you dare malign my girl again
Ok the french knot is very useful but it is a BITCH to do it consistently
We talk about how this website’s hate mail game is insane, but this might just be a new level
"skill issue" made entirely from French knots is a next level roast. no coming back from that one. damn
French knot is easy. Counting each fiddly thread is some absolutely nightmare bullshit.
by the gods, y'all need to learn to fucking grid. and you aren't counting threads, you are counting boxes, the grid makes it so much easier. i don't even count most of the time, the grid does it for me.
But then I'd have to cross stitch. Why would I want that when I hate cross stitch.
i'm beginning to think it's not the counting you hate.... and you know what, that's fine. and i promise, you don't have to do anything you don't want to. even cross stitch.
Where did I say it was the counting I hate.

happy 20 year anniversary of Neil banging out the tunes!
though every rat is special, it's a wonderful and unusual thing for their accomplishments to be remembered and cherished by so many people so many years later. we're all so fortunate to know about the rat who banged out the tunes!
thank you to all the people who sent me reference photos of their beloved rats for this piece!!! credits under the cut!

I LOVE SEEING PEOPLE WHO ARE COMFORTABLE ENOUGH IN THEIR OWN SKIN TO EXPRESS THEMSELVES, UNBURDENED WITH FEAR! I STARE AT THEM FROM ACROSS THE ROOM AND THINK "I AM LIKE YOU, I AM LIKE YOU" AS LOUDLY AS I CAN, BUT I NEVER SAY A WORD! COWARDICE IS THE NEEDLE STITCHING SHUT MY MUPPET MOUTH, AND THE BLOOD OF MY DENIAL PAINTS MY LIPS RED LIKE THE CLOWN I AM!

Knight and heart that desires
“--The knight was soon laid bare, clothes all discarded save for his red belt and scabbard. Honeyed milk flowed from his water skin freely over his curls only leaving behind silky pearls that traveled their way down his body to the mud below. He threw the empty leather skin where most of the milk was already resting and stretched his arms open to his sides as if in taunt and mockery. For what sort of a man would leave his beloved to wait for almost thirty summers?”

inspiration songs: John Denver – Annie’s Song , Melodious Melancholye – Bryd one breere in nutshell: Wreg’s (and Otto’s) frolic in the forest is interrupted by an ill omen – black woodpeckers, that signify death. Black woodpeckers: I’m not sure if this particular folk belief persist anywhere else, but in Finland they are seen as an ill omen, specifically either ill fortune or death. I’ve grown up to know them for the graver signifier, in which case depending on if the bird(s) fly in front of you (someone you love dies soon) or behind you (you die soon). Here the birds are spooked and fly towards Otto, and Wreg’s head is turned towards him in same manner as the woodpeckers’ (does he know? Or is he just reaching to kiss him back? Idk I enjoy both ideas) Hound: he’s not super visible against bright backgrounds, but there’s a talbot hound under the steed. He’s dangling one of the birds’ wings in his maw. While talbots are extinct now, there’s debate on whether they were even a breed to begin with (more likely a name for any white and large hunting dog). Growing up Wreg always had a talbot, and they are overall important to his early story. Even here, the hound is doing he’s part to protect his beloved companion from ill omens. Horse: Wreg likes horses that are spunky and silly. I just wanted to bring out her character here, with her chewing on her reins and stomping with her hoof. I’ve always imagined Wreg would’ve always found a way to own a destrier, which were a medieval category of large and stocky war horses. Armour: Otto is wearing more Milanese style armour while Wreg clearly has gothic. I just enjoyed the idea to insinuate here they might’ve gifted the armours to each other.. (in canon timeline Otto is extremely dead and has been for a long while)
could you please do a tutorial on how you do your risograph style drawings? they look so cool 😭😭
