his initial thought process was rational.
how long had she been in here, how could he find out how she was doing, who was she with, what the hell happened?
no, no, that’s not an appropriate question. she’s your best friend, the love of your life, her emotions are strong and sudden ( A LOT LIKE YOUR OWN ), and she has a lot on her plate. suitable reasoning allowed him to take comfort in knowing that she didn’t tell him because she physically couldn’t. she didn’t want to worry him, she didn’t want the pressure of feeling like a burden for her friends
and his fist collided with the buttons on the elevator because he couldn’t make it any more clear that she was his life, and he wanted to make sure he could do whatever was in his ability to keep it sailing smoothly. it was the first time in a year he had become physical, the first time in a while for him to act out on his emotions.
it was not the first time he had found himself apologizing to an inanimate object.
that was a normal reaction to finding ou someone you loved was in danger.
it wasn’t his new usual behavior. it was a buried instinct. the room was empty aside from himself, luckily. no more scenes.
a ding and the door had granted him access to the floor and he practically flew into the room.
permission to enter was granted, but he had hardly made it in before he could catch the bits of an open threat and an accusatory finger being pointed at him. the other male had backed him into the wall, fire in his eyes and a pain he knew all too well in his voice. aaron could hardly listen, his focus was trapped in two places. koemi was strapped to the flatbed, cords and such connected to her and a paleness, not unlike the dead that would haunt him, in her face. she was tired, the proof sagged under her eyes and provided the only source of color to her skin. unmoving, silent, it was a terrible sight, and he tried to bring his attention back to the other while his mouth remained open, trying to form a response ahead of his thought process.
taehyun was yelling, he was hurt, and aaron wanted desperately to calm him down because the entire environment was becoming too much to handle. his senses were flooding and his blood was boiling, he heard one statement that floated above the rest.
A FUCKING DRUG ADDICT, YOU DID THIS TO HER!
he couldn’t tell if his mind was putting those words in his mouth, or if the other had really just accused him of such. shoulders tensed, lips pursed and a redness flushed to his cheeks while a whiteness graced his clenched knuckles,
“ the fuck did you say what the fuck just came out of your mouth kid? “
and gone thus, the rationality.
In some ways he felt numb. In other ways, he felt too sensitive as to what was going on around him. He stayed in the corner, out of the way of Koemi’s dad and the other hospital staff working to care for Koemi. The last thing he wanted was to get in the way. He would just wait. Wait until they were done so he could sit by her side and just....wait.
That was all he could do. Wait.
Taehyun went on his phone from time to time, distracting himself, checking the news, seeing if there were any well wishes. Anything really. To get his mind off of what was happening. An overdose on painkillers. He knew she would be ok. He was just so scared.
Finding her like that, on the floor, not moving, looking dead, that was the most terrifying moment of his life. And the time he felt the most helpless. He didn’t know what had happened. If she was injured, if he could move her, if he could do CPR, nothing. He didn’t risk touching her in case it made what ever was wrong worse. His calls to the paramedics and Koemi’s dad were sort of a blur. As was the ride to the hospital. He had made the paramedics let him ride in the ambulance. He wouldn’t take no for an answer.
And now here they were. Koemi still unconscious, but stable. Him, sitting by her bedside.
And then the person he least wanted to see walked through the door.
He was on his feet in seconds, moving towards Aaron so fast the other had no choice but to be backed against the wall.
“What the hell are you doing here. Why the fuck did the guards let you in? The only people that should be here right now are family. Matt is the exception because he’s her bodyguard. You shouldn’t be anywhere near Koemi right now.” Taehyun’s eyes glistened with the tears he’d wanted to release since this all began. They were just angry now.
“You shouldn’t be here! Get out! Not after what...what you did to her! You gave her those pills didn’t you?! Of course you did! Why am I not surprised! Koemi told me about you, you know. You’re just a...a fucking drug addict! You did this to her! You did this to Koemi!”
He could see the way Aaron reacted to that. Whether it was anger or disbelief of what Taehyun had just said, he didn’t know. But some smug part of him took great satisfaction in what Aaron said to him.
‘what the fuck just came out of your mouth kid?’
Taehyun couldn’t help but step a bit closer. He wasn’t too much taller than Aaron but he used that, a slight sneer forming on his face.
