Being asked to do small favors while having adhd task-switching and executive dysfunction issues is such a shit situation cause it's like
Switching Tasks: This costs 10 Executive Function Points
Doing the Task: This costs 5 Executive Function Points
Resuming the Task you were doing before: This now costs 15 points for some reason???
Saying "no I can't because I need to save my Executive Function Points right now, I want to complete my current Task but only have like 20 points left": This costs 25 points.
Meanwhile, for the person asking, every bullet point here costs like. 0-2 points.
In practice, having no opportunity to deny the task that doesn't spend more EFP than you have, you end up spending 15 points on the "small favor" and then just sit there doing Nothing because you only have 5 points left.
The person asking thinks they were being completely reasonable, it was only a tiny thing after all, but in practice you've completely derailed the thing you were trying to do for the sake of making someone else's day marginally easier.
And this is just with the task switching & executive dysfunction issues. If your adhd comes with the Can't Remember Shit addon, switching tasks can mean Negative Progress on the current task. And if you have other ND stuff going on that makes social interaction A Big Deal? Well, that's a "Fun Time!"
Being asked by a person I never talk to if I can do them a favor: This conversation already costs 5 points. 10 if it takes more than a couple messages. 20 if they're one of those deranged people who only uses voice calls.
Remembering where you were at before Resuming the Task you were doing before: Anywhere from 2-5 points. It's not much, but it takes several actual human minutes, which is plenty of time for someone else to initiate bullet point one.
I don't really think I have the language to describe to someone without ADHD what it's like to be sitting at my desk in the afternoon with the mental equivalent of television static because I spent the day getting my brain deep fried by task switching.
Year of the OTP Challenge
This is inspired by the official @yearoftheotpevent blog, and is in no way an official event or challenge, just something fun I put together ahead of 2026 with my own spin and style on the spirit of the original.
The Premise: for each month of 2026 you can select one of your OTPs (or just pick one for the whole year for an extra challenge) and there will be 5 potential prompts per month for you to play with: An AU Setting, A Common Trope, A Line of Dialogue, A Smut/Kink Prompt, and finally, a Song from my personal writing playslist.
It is entirely up to you which prompt you use each month. If only one speaks to you, or you'd like to mix and match, or if you're interested in really challenging yourself, try incorporating all five.
That being said, this is not an official challenge or event, so there are really no rules; just go nuts and see what happens!

What’s the comic sans trick?
#i feel like someone just asked me to eat dirt for my health
wingdings' true purpose as a font
Wingdings holy shit some of y'all are on a whole different level of galaxy wizard brain batshittery and I am in awe.
Exciting. When I don't want to see what I'm writing I just make the font color almost indistinguishable from the background color. (Do not do this.)
(I don't think the secret to the comic sans hack is comic sans itself; I think it's any deflation of being intimidated by your canvas.)
Hold on I need to go look something up immediately.
... you can't say that and not give the link.

I think everyone expects Zoey to freak out over meeting other artists but the person she actually freaked out about meeting the most was Tony Hawk

Mira and Zoey's first thoughts when they see Rumi's patterns were pure horror and self-loathing. Because there's only two ways they know of that Rumi could have them. Either Rumi made a deal with Gwi-Ma before even attempting to open up about her needs to them, or she's a demon imposter who's infiltrated their group for who knows how long. If the first, Rumi has betrayed them in the worst possible way, and how had they failed so much as friends to let her get to that point? If the second, how had they not noticed? How long had the human Rumi been gone? Was she dead? Had she been gone since before they ever met her and their entire friendship a ruse? Had she been taken from them just weeks ago and they'd been so caught up in their own woes they had even noticed?
Celine had been clear; there were only two ways a demon was created. Birth, or choice. They were never victims. You don't just grow patterns one day. It doesn't happen by accident.
Yet the demon wearing Rumi's face came to them pleading. Came to them in the midst of a panic attack, acting for all the world as if she should still be considered friend by the two of them. She was crying. As if she were the victim here.
The way Rumi was talking about fixing things, the way she had never acted like Not-Rumi like, the secrets she'd obviously hiding for a while: it became clear which way Rumi had gained the patterns. She'd betrayed them for a deal with Gwi-Ma. Why? What had she possibly needed that they couldn't have helped her with? She really turned to their sworn enemy first? Before even telling them she was hurting?
Then she shouted and it was demonic and the honmoon rippled. So much work and effort instantly ruined as the honmoon weakened.
She had made her choice. She chose to betray them. Now they had to make theirs, and they had to choose humanity.
She left them first. She chose to become their enemy. Even if they were assuming wrong, and she was actually a demon imposter, she'd chosen to manipulate their emotions and lied over and over and wasn't their friend.
As much as Mira and Zoey wished otherwise, wished it was all a mistake, they didn't know of any possibilities that could make Rumi an innocent in this. So they guarded their broken hearts with their weapons and waited for the fight that never ended up coming.
---
When Rumi came back singing and saving their lives, they had no clue what on earth was happening. But one thing was clear, Rumi was choosing them and to do good, despite her demons. She was letting them in for the first time in their lives, and they were going to trust that for now. Emotional and in-depth explanations could come later.
@miraculousagentsofkrypton your tags on this post are perfect
This is SUCH a personal annoyance of my own because there is NO WAY Mira and Zoey would be able to reach the half demon idea on their own or be able to reach a ‘Rumi hasn’t betrayed them’ moment without a long conversation.
They literally also just saw a fake Bobby before seeing Rumi— that HAD to have affected what they thought was possibly happening.
The way the fandom writes about that moment makes it seem like Mira and Zoey are horrible for not accepting Rumi in that moment but I’d argue that they reacted the best they possibly could in a situation that screamed ‘our leader betrayed us’
They knew she as having problems with her voice, that she was weirdly willing to work with Jinu, that she’d been hiding something. It would be a small step to guess that she’d made a deal with Gwi-Ma and had been trying to hide it.
The only logical assumption they could have jumped to was that Rumi made a deal. Especially after she literally said she was working with Jinu. Neither of them act like they're under the impression that that's *not* Rumi, which makes sense, considering how they saw Gwi-Ma dig into her greatest fear on stage just minutes before. This feels less like an illusion of Gwi-Ma's to break them up, and more like an answer finally to *what* has been up with Rumi.
You said it already, but the evidence lines up for that leap. Lately, Rumi has been panicked, rushed, not up to her usual capabilities, and secretive and distant. She's acting weirdly around a Demon and just admitted to meeting with him at least once without telling them. She's ashamed of her patterns (which she all of a sudden has. When they first met her, she definitely didn't have patterns across her whole body. And they have actually seen almost all of her in the past.) In her panic of not actually explaining anything, she talks about fixing them, of not letting them see [her shame].
"I was using him, to fix all this. To fix me. So that we could all do out duty. We could all be strong." Not a single part of this doesn't sound like reasoning behind making a deal. What could she possibly have been trying to fix, unless she *did* something wrong or thought she did at least. There was something wrong that she had not told them about. And somehow, Jinu and brand new patterns were involved.
Now take all that evidence, and look at how they react. There's no Hate. No comments about her being an evil demon at all. All there is is heartbreak and betrayal that she Lied. They take up their weapons because a lying demon just Did Something to the Honmoon. And it's their job. Yet they don't attack her, just warn her, and protect themselves from whatever damage Rumi is seemingly capable of now.
What Else Are They Supposed to Do?? Their leader has seemingly Actively Betrayed all their trust and turned into the enemy. They don't want to hurt her, and a large portion of their heartbreak has to be actual empathy for whatever hurt had led Rumi down this path of self-destruction. Rumi is clearly genuinely hurting. But you can't save someone who is unwilling to be saved and is apparently determined to drag everyone else down with them before accepting help. Help that has been offered, time and time again.
Kpop Demon Hunters as Textposts because I'm bored part 2
We're shattering the silence, we're rising, defiant. Shouting in the quiet, "You're not alone." We listened to the demons, we let them get between us. But none of us are out here on our own. So we were cowards, so we were liars. So we're not heroes, we're still survivors. The dreamers, the fighters, no lying, I'm tired. But dive in the fire, and I'll be right here by your side 💜
