Introducing: The Moxter and the Juddler

Aka the bodyswapped versions of Muddler and Joxter

Based on this comic I made (please check it out if you haven't already, it means alot to me)

Discussion/ramblings under the cut

These outfits probably won't be completely canon to the story but the possibility is still up there. "That confusing mess" is a bit of a working title for the story but I'll wait and see if time warms me up to it, I'm still not 100% sure if I'll even continue it atleast properly but it's fun to think about and I'll probably do bits and pieces of it in the future at the very least. I very much enjoy the idea in general.

The texturing, hatching and lineart of these two was very fun to do and I love how they both came out though I prefer the Juddler one in my opinion.

Sorry this was just very, very cathartic to write all the monologues here and I know some of you like that juicy angst and there isn't quite a selection for the Muddler kind so. You're welcome? Sorry? Not sure which one it is.

Not sure if anyone's made a post about this but here goes;

So I've been rewatching the Adventures of Moominpappa trilogy episodes to confirm a headcanon/thought I had about the Muddler, that being his height relative to the other members of the Oshun Oxtra. I took a few screenshots (mainly of the whole group) and here's what I gathered:

Light blue=Hodgkins/Fredrickson

Brown=Moomin(pappa)

Red=Joxter

Dark Blue=F/Muddler (including the little spine/leg skeleton I drew over him)

Red text=my commentary

Hodgkins is clearly the tallest member of the group, which makes sense as he's presumably the oldest and possibly the only actual adult in the crew.

Moomin is atleast half a head shorter than Hodgkins if we don't count his ears.

Joxter is shorter than Moomin by atleast over an inch or so if we remove his hat, which would make him the shortest of the crew but not by much, really.

And of course, Muddler, my sweet child, how bad his frEAKIN' POSTURE IS-

Assuming my approximation of his posture under all that clothing is correct (which is hard to say because I tried tracing over his anatomy and it's very wack, likely due to the artists/animators having to work with all that clothing he has) and if we remove his saucepan out of the equation, we have Muddler being slightly taller than Jox at his shortest and coming slightly taller than Hodgkins' height at his tallest.

Which is-- a little surprising to say the least, I knew he'd be atleast a little taller than Joxter and Moomin but like, being the height of his uncle? I wouldn't say I was shocked but I was rather interested.

Now, with this information in mind, what sort of thoughts and headcanons can we extrapolate from this? Well a few spring to mind personally but those are just small story ideas, a few more general ideas are:

Muddler is rather insecure about his height, thus having awful posture like 97% of the time.

Not many people realise he's actually pretty tall, relative to alot of the characters, so it would come as a surprise to anyone when he does reveal his real height for one reason or another. Perhaps even giving them a mini existential crisis.

For the people who DO know Muddler's real height, they often forget about it and whenever he does the height thing they always get a "oh -dash- I completely forgot how tall he really is"

Whenever he rummages through his tin or whatever nobody really registers his height, like at all.

Joxter still hasn't fully registered Muddler's real height, yet, as of the end of their canon journey when Moomin met his future wife.

And with that being said, have 2 little comics I based off this whole thing.

Moomin discovers how tall Muddler is, his shock reminded Muddler of why he was insecure about it in the first place.

An older Muddler talking about his height, the song lyric at the end is a reference to a song Muddler sings about himself in Moomintrollet (1969)

So that was a fun little deep dive into a very specific topic about a specific character I seem to be obsessed with. I hope you enjoy this as much as I enjoyed making it. This is honestly more for myself than anything, I'm not really looking into real measurements with this one as this is more about the relative height of the Oxtra crew, but if you can provide any info on that (your own thoughts/calculations, another Tumblr post or otherwise) I would very gladly read it.

as much as tails, knuckles, amy, and rouge having their counterparts memories after the fact would be neat, a huge part of me is hoping that they don’t remember shit and are just extremely confused as to why sonic has suddenly gotten so clingy

like sonic runs into tails’ lab and pulls him into a swinging hug (mimicking the hug with nine? maybe) and tails is just like “wtf is happening rn are you ok??? are you dying???” because his usually not-very-touchy big brother is crushing him and won’t let go

imagine the shatter space is restored and all of them are just sitting in silence trying to process all that just happened and the fact they now have three other peoples sets of memories in their brain. Imagine how they couldn’t look at tails because of what happened. How tails went off the deep end and almost destroyed the universe.

Sure they don’t blame him.

But the other versions of themselves did

They just can’t look at him and can’t talk to him for a while, they feel bad about it because 3/4 of their memories remember this amazing kid that they love but at the same time, there’s a hatred for the fourth kid and god do they hate that they hate a version of tails. Because it’s tails none of them can ever imagine hating a version of tails.

So for a while the others avoid him. But they all think that the others are checking up and being normal with him. Even sonic and shadow are taking time away from him. They’ll all nod and wave at him if they see him but they try and avoid him as much as they possibly can.

The only person who dosent have this overwhelming bitterness or sadness? Is tails. Tails can’t avoid himself he just has to live with this hurt that he was going through because sure he was destroying the world but let’s be honest. He was having a breakdown and god the kids eight. And no doubt all versions of tails have some kind of trauma about bullying or exclusion so imagine the trauma you had been dealing with and slowly processing is now quadrupled.

And on top of that? No one will stay around him for more than five minutes. No one will comfort him or even give him a proper conversation and he doesn’t blame them at all for it. He just wants them back because they’re the only family he’d got.

Imagine tails going ages without seeing everyone, everyone thinks the others are checking up on him which they aren’t. Eventually all the others get in the same room without tails and are wondering why he ain’t there and it somehow comes up that this eight year old boy has been left alone basically with no one.

This eight year old who a part of him just went through a breakdown (a breakdown that was caused by feeling like nothing and like he has no one in his life that would care for or protect him) has been left on his own since everything was fixed

By the time they all probably go and see tails you can probably just imagine the condition he’s in. The kid already dosent take care of himself unless he’s forced to. So that plus having to deal with 3 more sets of memories, recovering from a breakdown and doing it all alone

Yeah he’s probably in such a bad depressive episode when they find him…
