She seems to think that activism she does and the trans friends she has give her a pass to say this kind of stuff. Obviously it doesn’t. This isn’t me trying to say that we should all send her angry messages, but I am extremely concerned for the young trans folks and nonbinary and/or gnc lesbians following her who look up to her as a mom figure (since that’s how she’s presented herself) and who might internalize this bullshit. young folks: there are older lgbt/queer/gnc people out there who will respect your gender identity fully. you don’t have to settle for this. I see you, and your identity is yours, completely, even if people like this like to qualify and invalidate it.
