Hot take, and I know people might be furious with me for it because I understand people do it for religious purposes, but I fully don't think babies should ever be circumsized. They don't have ANY way to consent to what amounts to genital mutilation. Regardless if this is something done for your religious beliefs it is an infant that can't consent!
The way I see it, no matter what you believe, a baby cannot consent to what happens to their body and therefore it should not happen until the person is an adult and old enough to actually consent. I feel the same way about piercing a baby's ears.
Unless its for something like a life saving surgery a baby shouldn't have to be under the knife just because their parents think it's the common practice or because their god demands it.
When are we going to treat children like people huh? When are we going to start respecting that children deserve to not go through that?
Adding onto it and you should absolutely reblog this version: Intersex babies shouldn't have "corrective" surgery either. Again, they have no choice about what's happening to their bodies. Unless it's a life saving surgery it should not be happening at all. Stop mutilating children.
