OOPS keep forgetting to log in and do things haha. OP did ask to see the little cats that people sew off of that pattern tho
this messed up vintage cat sewing pattern has tormented me since i saw it & like some other folks have done in that post - i tried my hand at tweaking the pattern to resemble the illustration (and my personal tastes) a little more. i've ended up with this, which i have only tested at a small scale and not this final version exactly (where i have done such things as further widening the cheeks and finalizing the leg shapes.) i bestow it upon you nice folks now 👐
(IVE UPDATED IT WITH A FIX!!)
go forth and make weird little beanbag kittens! pls show me if you do!
tested the fix (as seen in the edit!!) AND IM SUPER HAPPY THIS IS CUTE AS HELL!! im hoping some people whove reblogged this see the updated pattern aaahh
Made some impulse tweaks as I went :3 I love this pattern now
It's rare, but sometimes I do venture into the 20th century, especially when the words "silk velvet" are in the description.
Here, you have a rather extreme example of the fashionable hobble skirt of the time. Between about 1908 and 1911, this short-lived craze is reputedly from France (Paul Poiret claimed the invention) but no one is exactly sure its origin.
Regardless, hobble skirts were aptly named for they caused a great challenge to the wearer. As stunning as this gown is, knowing, as the description says, it narrows "to the ankles" it seems quite a sacrifice for a fashion trend. But then again, humankind has been doing that for a very, very long time. I think of this as the anti-pannier!
This particular gown has a brilliant colorway with that deep pink against gold, plus the spray of silk flowers on the bodice. And there are rhinestones to add that extra little pizazz. To say nothing of the train!

In the fall in the Pacific Northwest, you might find this very tiny dragon jealously guarding its hoard of fungus in the old growth forests
My biggest risograph to date, 11 x 17"! The colors almost hurt to look at irl :') I love this medium
Prints available!
food tastes better when you feed it to me :9
I AM THE BEST PIRATE
ID: three fish embroidered on an upholstery sample with a design that looks like coral. the fish are embroidered so they appear to be swimming in between the coral. the colors are shades of olive green and beige.
lesbian tumblr do you like my shirt for cowboy night yesterday :)
an artist is a director of audience reaction, not its dictator. if you know your craft well, you can make most of your cues hit, but in the end, interpretation of art is up to the viewer. you cannot guarantee that everyone viewing your work will react as you are trying to make them react. a good artist knows that this is what allows works to breathe. by definition, you cannot have art where the viewer brings nothing to the table. you do have to respect both the generative and interpretive ends of the process if you want your art to mean anything.
this is why you have to let go of the urge to plainly state in-text exactly how you think the work should be interpreted. that desire for control conveys disrespect for audience. if you have developed your storytelling skills well enough, the audience will understand what you are trying to communicate without needing you to intercede as authorial voice. sure, some won't get it, but it's better to be misinterpreted sometimes than to talk down to your audience. you won't even gain any control that way; people will still develop their opinions no matter what you do. just find a way to communicate your ideas and hope that it comes across well to your audience at some point
U know that one meme
