On Saturday I said to my partner, as I have said for months, "A ten thousand dollar a year raise would solve so many of my problems."
As of this morning I was reluctantly looking for jobs because I love my job and don't want to leave it, but see: $10k raise problem solver.
As of noon today this was no longer an issue, because my boss called me with the news that I was getting a $10K merit raise.
I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. This is roughly $200 extra per paycheck. Enough to pay off debt faster, rebuild my savings, and spend a weekend a month in Milwaukee getting obscenely laid. The sex I'm going to have on $200 extra per paycheck. You can't even.
May all of you get the $10K raise your soul has yearned for. And whatever level of sex you can be satisfied with for $200.

Hello, everyone! This is a tutorial for my lace choker design. I'll include instructions at the end for making it in larger sizes. Here are a few examples of different styles you can make with this tutorial:

I'm going to be a little briefer with the first few steps here, because they're the same as in my other tutorial - so if you need more detail, check that out!
Start by adding a lobster clasp and 3 beads on each side of it to the middle of a long piece of fabric-covered elastic. Then, add one bead onto both ends of the string and pull it down so it is with the other beads.
Repeat this pattern the correct amount of times for the size you're making. For my size, that is 13. Then, add the 3 beads on each side as though you're making a 14th repeat, but instead of putting the last bead on both ends of the string, put it on one end and then pull the other end through it in the other direction.
Pull one end of the string through the center bead of the nearest section, then add two beads and go through the next center bead. Do the same on the other side.
Continue this pattern all the way across. You might need to add more string around now, I do that with a triple knot.
Pull through one end of the string so it comes out of the second of the two edge beads. Then, do the same on the other side.
On one end of the string, put 7 beads. I like to use a couple decorative round beads here, but make sure that they have a big enough hole to get your string through it twice. Repeat the pattern all the way across.
On the other end of the string, put just one bead. Pull it through the next 2 edge beads and continue the pattern all the way across.
Pull the end of the string down through the point of your first spike.
Add various beads. I have a specific pattern I like to follow here, you can copy mine or just string on whatever beads you want to make it approximately the same length. Go through the next point, then continue all the way around.
I've hit tumblr's image limit, so hold on a minute while I add the rest in a reblog.
Bring the string through the rest of that point and one of the edge beads, then tie it off and cut it.
Pull the remaining end of the string up through one of the beads that is sticking out of the top.
Add 2 mini pony beads, 2 pearl beads, and 1 tri bead, then go through the next bead sticking out of the top. Repeat the pattern all the way across.
Pull the end of the string through one more bead, then tie it off and cut it. It's done!
To size this design up, just make sure you add an even number of sections to your base. For example, here is one that uses 16 instead of 14 sections in the base. As you can see, though, this results in an even number of points on the last layer - so if you want a unique centerpiece rather than a design that's more even, you'll need to add 4 or 8 sections.
