do you think the Russian juniors this quad are better than the russian juniors last quad?
I would say overall yes.
Vault is still a weak spot, but it hasn’t really gotten any worse? Last quad, only Melnikova, Skrypnik, and Tutkhalyan showed DTYs internationally. The juniors now already have Saifulina’s DTY, Simakova’s Rudi, and a few solid FTYs to build on as they get older.
Bars are fine. It’s Russia.
Beam is about the same. The skill selection still kills me though. Why do bhs+bhs+”whip” for .5 when you can do bhs+loso+loso for the same value? That and a lot of other choices leave me wondering WTH the coaches are thinking lol. The current juniors seem confident up there, but so have most in the past. We’ll see.
Floor has improved IMO. I think all the 2002 girls have E passes, with several having more than one. (I know that doesn’t sound impressive, but considering how they’ve struggled recently, it’s awesome.) I’ve noticed their leaps kinda suck now, but their turns have improved a lot… give and take.
But yeah, they have enough depth that 2-3 solid gymnasts should factor in 2020. I’ll be able to answer this better after Nationals though! Qualifications start tomorrow, so hopefully we get a stream, an IG live, or videos posted.

It’s frustrating to see how all hate is being treated as though it were equal. The whole rhetoric of “You’re becoming the hate that you opposed so much.” But it’s not that simple. Not all hate can be viewed equally.
A woman hates her abuser for how she was treated.
Her abuser hates her for existing as a woman.
We cannot treat the hate of the victims as the same thing as the hatred they face. That is belittling their experiences and silencing their (justified) reactions.
Enough of this, “stop spreading more hate” rhetoric. We are under no obligation to love those who constantly and consistently mistreat us.
THANK YOU.

The median age of survival for Canadians with cystic fibrosis was 50, and only 40 for Americans, researchers found after six years of analysis.
In 2011, cystic fibrosis researchers noticed something weird. Patients with this deadly genetic disorder were living longer and longer — but those in Canada seemed to be living significantly longer than those in the United States.
The researchers wondered if the Canadian patients were actually more likely to survive longer, or if something else was going on. Were there differences in the way each country gathered its data? “Perhaps Canada collected data on mild cystic fibrosis patients more than the US,” said Dr. Anne Stephenson, a physician-researcher specializing in cystic fibrosis at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto.
But that didn’t turn out to be true. Six years and plenty of statistical analyses later, Stephenson and her colleagues found that the median age of survival for Canadians was 50, and only 40 for Americans. The gap persisted even when they looked only at data from the most severe cases.
“In a way people should be alarmed,” said Stephenson. “It will make people motivated to reduce that gap.”
To Kevin Gorey, a University of Windsor epidemiologist who studies how health outcomes differ on each side of the border, that is the probably biggest difference in survival he’s ever seen: It’s “stunning,” he said.
“A ten-year difference … that’s lots of years spent with your child or not, having fun with your friends, living your life,” said Gorey, who was not involved in the study. “That’s a huge, huge human tragedy.”
But those results, published Monday in the Annals of Internal Medicine, also ask some hard questions about the American health care system, and why it may not be as good at keeping patients alive.
“But some of the paper’s most striking results don’t have to do with specific treatments. Instead, they have to do with health insurance.”
More on that point from the article:
The Canadians, all of whom get government-provided health coverage, had the same risk of dying as those Americans who had private insurance. When compared with Americans on continuous Medicare and Medicaid, though, Canadians’ risk of death was 44 percent lower. And the disparity was even greater when it came to Americans with no insurance at all.
With the gutting of Medicare and Medicaid proposed by the Republicans and the new proposed bill threatening to make up to 24 million Americans lose health care, every single American needs to read this article and bring it up to your Republican senators, congressmen, governors, etc every single time they dare show their faces back home. Ask them how they can rob Americans with cystic fibrous of 10 years of their lives and how they can rob years from cancer patients, years they could spend with their friends and family and loved ones.
