i think that the “will you disappoint them?” moment really gets to me so much because the place ilya asked it is the only context where shane can give a confident answer. he thinks his parents are going to be disappointed in him for being gay (even if he can’t put his finger exactly on that at that point in the show)—he thinks his team will be disappointed in him for the way that the media focuses on him and ilya—he thinks that fans will be disappointed if he isn’t the perfect role model always—but in the rink he knows the answer is no because he never plays anything less than his best.

i googled macrobiotic diet for an rp i’m doing and it is. wow. so much worse than i thought

like they kind of joke around it in the show and call it bird food and i get it because it’s not the focal point. but i don’t get how rachel reid could have picked out this diet that is known for causing deaths by malnutrition for a pro athlete and then gone “i didn’t intend for him to have an eating disorder” and also made it never seriously come up for discussion from what ive heard like it just magically goes away?

like. okay i’m Weird about food. i don’t have an ed but i do have a lot of contamination ocd and food safety anxiety. and it’s noticeable and im sure it’s annoying to my family and girlfriend and friends to deal with my food rules. so i just can’t imagine it not immediately coming up for discussion as soon as shane and ilya start seriously dating. jesus
