The phone rings. A stranger is calling in to the show. Daw's favorite part of his day is the two hours of talk. The time of day where he could flex his charisma and feed his ego. Flirting with people in his southern drawl developed solely to make him more charismatic.
"You're on Daw Time with Daw Bine, state your name and speak your piece honey!"
"Hello Daw! It's Lobster Man, I see you're on your radio show!"
Lobster Man, an old enemy from his younger days, when he tried his hand at getting people's attention forcefully with hostage situations and broadcast hijacking.
"Lobster Man! Wonderful to speak to you again! Haven't seen you since I retired from villainy and moved out to start a show here in the nowheres! How's Shrimp Boy doing the little scamp?"
"About that. He's gone missing."
Daw's southern accent dropped, its use for show no longer appropriate.
"More specifically, he's been kidnapped."
Daw's blood boiled, Shrimp Boy was his favorite part of fighting Lobster Man. The kid always laughed at all his jokes and was always enthralled with how Daw told stories. Might as well have been his biggest fan, especially with all the letters they'd write when Daw was behind bars. Hell, he was nice to all of the duo's enemies, Lobster Man hadn't even needed to teach him to be. So, who the hell thought to kidnap him?
"Well that's just it Daw. All the evidence has led to you."
"Are you accusing, me? ME? Of kidnapping my favorite fan in the world?"
"No. That's why I'm telling you. When all the evidence started pointing to you, I instantly knew it was a frame-up. I'm contacting you like this for two reasons. One, I want word to get out about Shrimp Boy's kidnapping."
"Everyone from Harbor City who listens in will immediately join in on the case, including my old colleagues."
"Precisely. The second reason is I want whoever did it to regret it immediately."
"Makes sense, every villain in Harbor City is going to do everything they can to make sure Shrimp Boy is returned safely. Lobster Man, I am going to divert ALL of my attention to finding Shrimp Boy. And until then, I am not resting for an instant. I'll be sharing notes with you and my old colleagues."
"Thank you Daw. I won't forget this."
"Any time Lobster Man. Now then, let's get searching."
Daw hung up and addressed his listeners, his southern show accent returning habitually.
"You heard it here folks, Shrimp Boy is missing and I'm putting down everything until I find him. I'll see you after he's returned to Lobster Man, and I'll probably be the first one to tell you."
