✨if you know you know✨
I haven't seen dancing pumpkin guy ONCE this year, are you guys okay?
FINE! I'll do it myself
Just realized that both coming out day and indigenous peoples day are on the 11th this year so here's your reminder from your local queer native to not let Indigenous Peoples Day get ignored and forgotten this year. Support natives even if they're not queer this october 11th, and don't let white + colonized narratives be the main focus of the day.
Also I highly encourage white people to reblog this
Hey remember when they found over 200 bodies of native children buried behind a residential school and the world cared for... what, a week?
They've counted about 6,000-7,000 now, for those of you who do still care
It should NOT fall on Indigenous people's shoulders to keep this known still. We’ve been doing that for generations at this point and NO ONE wants to listen to us.
We’re tired, mourning and constantly reopening our trauma and pain to keep people caring about us. It’s terrible.
I should start by noting that I am white, and not Canadian, and that if op wants me to remove this comment for any reason, please let me know.
This is a map of all the residential schools in Canada:
[link to the article it’s attached to, it’s interactable there, so you can get a better look around]
Each dot on this map represents a residential school. Blue dots mean the school is considered completely searched. Yellow dots mean they are either in the process of being searched or there are plans to be searched. Red dots indicate that no search has happened and that no search is currently planned
There were more than 130 residential schools in Canada. This map suggests that only six have been fully searched, and a little more than a dozen partially searched (I counted 15 yellow dots). That leaves at least 109 schools completely untouched.
Let that sink in; if 6,000-7,000 unmarked, indigenous children’s graves were found by searching less than a fifth of all the schools, how many are still undiscovered.
Wikipedia estimates that the body count could be over 50,000, and honestly, that could be a low estimate
[ID: A map of Canada with dozens of dots on it, 6 of which are blue and 7 of which are yellow; the rest are red. Later there is a screenshot from wikipedia reading, “Estimates range from 3,200 to over 50,000 children that were killed. Most of the recorded student deaths at residential schools took place before the 1950s. /end ID]
“Yo to ppl who want to be allies on coming out day!
Instead of “I don’t care if you’re [insert identity here]”
Try “I’m so happy you’re out as [identity] and I support you!”
You should care about people’s identities! It’s part of what makes them who they are!”

Protesters in the portland area, there are reports and supporting videos that the police may be ultilizing an LRAD sonic weapon today (6/3/20). Please wear ear protection and anticipate noise of ~160db.
Hi, update (6/4/20, 2:30 am): Various warning tweets have since gained more traction on twitter and some have tweeted their sightings of the LRAD cannon today.
There have also been tweets that protesters today were handing out ear plugs to eachother en masse, but I haven’t seen any reports of LRAD being used to harm civilians yet, thankfully! But this could change.
As always, please continue to exercise caution at protests and bring hearing protection if you are able. While we must take rumors with a grain of salt we must also remember that police WILL NOT HESITATE to harm you unprovoked if they desire. Stay safe!
Earplugs apparently don’t help! If you see LRADS you should be ready to take off. here’s a thread about what LRADs do twitter.com/Sphynxian/status/1268387869690757122
Thank you so much for adding this info!
Please read the links you’re going to fucking share, people.
The article @mdwolf links SPECIFICALLY says EARPLUGS ARE EFFECTIVE.
Earplugs can mitigate it a little. So, they’re not very effective but you should still wear them if that’s the best option you have.
As someone with hyperacusis for other reasons, I want to encourage protestors who are at risk of an LRAD attack to double up the way I need to when I am in what most people consider a moderately loud environment.
Get -30db in-ear earplugs and wear them for the whole protest. Protests are loud anyway, and you should be protecting your hearing the same way you would at a concert. If you are concerned about acoustic quality, invest in musician’s earplugs which run about $18 per pair, but the foam ones where you can get 50 for $10 at CVS are sufficient. Your brain will adapt pretty quick.
Also get over-the-head earmuffs at the highest decibel protection you can afford. Think shooting range earmuffs. Keep them around your neck. If you see an LRAD, put them on immediately.
It is important to keep the ear plugs in at all times and put the ear muffs on the moment you see there is an LRAD present. You do not have a second to waste. Do not wait for them to fire it, because ear pain from sound is completely disorienting and you will not be able to walk straight or possibly even stand up. This will damage more than just your hearing.
This will not protect you 100% - and please remember that decibel protection does not stack. It sort of averages.
What this will do is minimize the damage the LRAD does to you, and give you a better opportunity to get out before you literally hit the floor from sonic damage and can’t get up, exposing you to a prolonged attack and completely obliterating your hearing and sense of balance.
THIS IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT
I’ve gone research on LRADs, sonic weaponry and it’s damages and potential to be used as WEAPONS OF W*R for a paper I did about The Future of Science. Its extremely terrifying and absolutely awful!
TL;DR: Sonic (having to do with hearing) weaponry extremely dangerous because not only is it dibilitatingly loud, but it has the potential (if at the right frequency) to make your internal organs match the wavelengths and:
Make your heartbeat slow or quicken
Force your lungs to breathe/breathe in a different rhythm
Make your internal organs vibrate at a frequency too high that they will burst.
Please.
Please.
Please protect yourselves and get the FUCK out if you see LRADs.
LRADs are not new.
They don’t fucking care they will hurt you.
me n the girls walkin into target headed straight to the clearance bread rack
sorry everyone

One of the first women to start her own independent production company.
Earned her way to stardom without sleeping with executives for roles.
Refused to date people for publicity just because 20th Century Fox wanted her to.
Left 20th Century Fox because she refused to let them get away with treating her badly and paying her a tiny wage, just because of her “dumb blonde” image.
Was only paid a fraction of her co-star’s wage even though she was the star of the movies and the biggest box office pull, but still went ahead with the movies because she was so passionate about acting.
Studied method acting at the Actors Studio with Lee Strasberg, who said that she was one of his best students along with Marlon Brando.
Had a personal library of over 500 books and rarely read fiction - she was desperate to learn and educate herself.
Was sexually abused as a child but then went on to encourage the sexual liberation of women in the 1950s.
One of the first people to speak openly about sexual abuse.
One of the first people to openly support gay rights.
Supported many charities such as the Milk Fund, March of Dimes, Arthritis and Rheumatism foundation.
Donated her time and money to these charities.
Visited orphanages and hospitals on her own time to surprise the people there.
Married one of the greatest literary minds of the 20th century
Suffered two miscarriages and one ectopic pregnancy and still put on a brave face for her fans.
Sorry, did you say she wasn’t a role model?
marilyn is my biggest role model so don’t even go there
and let’s not forget this
Ella Fitzgerald was not allowed to play at the popular Mocambo, in Hollywood, because of her race. Marilyn, who loved her music and supported civil rights, called the owner of the Mocambo and told him that if he booked Ella immediately, she would take a front table every night. The owner said yes, and Marilyn was there, front table, every night. After that, Ella never had to play in a small jazz club again.
“She was an unusual woman – a little ahead of her times. And she didn’t know it.” - Ella Fitzgerald about Marilyn Monroe
OH SHIT YOU JUST GOT SERVED
