Seriously guys, i‘ve said it before and i‘ll say it again: This show is genius! Today I’ll be talking about the soundtrack.

Remember how GRRM told D&D that Dany and Jon were the core characters of GoT and that everything would be revolving around their eventual meeting? The thing is, you can actually hear this in the soundtrack. Both Jon and Dany have elements of the main theme in their themes (note: no other houses have this! Both Lannister and Greyjoy have completely different themes). e.g. when you listen to “Winter Has Come” from the season 6 soundtrack and “Dragonstone from the season 7 soundtrack you can hear the same elements. I noticed this today at work because I listened to the soundtrack on the way and when I was in the shop there was no music and I listened to it in my head and accidentally mixed the songs. Of course, both of them have other themes, like Dany’s “Dracarys” theme (s3) or her theme when she rides Drogon (for example in “Spoils Of War” or “Against all odds”). But I think it’s beautiful how subtle those hints are in the music.

Another beautiful thing is how the themes change with the characters. For example: Cersei Lannister. She has obviously the Lannister theme (“A Lannister Always Pays His Debts” s3) BUT we can hear her new own theme when she blows up the sept of Baelor (“The Light Of The Seven” s6). And guess what happens? Exactly, those two get mixed together (“Hear me Roar” s6). And voilà! There you have your own Cersei Lannister theme. I think it’s amazing.

Also: Have you noticed how themes evolve with the story? Two examples: 1. “Farewell”, the music during the funeral after the Battle of Winterfell contains the Night King Theme (can be heard in “The Night King” obv and “Not Today), only played slower and by violas and cellos instead of a piano. Listen to both songs, you’ll notice it too! 2. “The King’s Arrival” can be heard in s1e1 when King Robert arrives in Winterfell. “Arrival at Winterfell” can be heard in s8e1 - where Dany, Jon and her two armies arrive in Winterfell. When I first saw that episode I almost squeaked and couldn’t stop beaming because of the flashbacks to the first episode of Game Of Thrones. It was so awesome hearing that song again. Of course, it’s not the same song. “Arrival at Winterfell” conveys a darker atmosphere because of the “Dracarys” theme in the background and changes in the end almost completely to Dany’s themes because of her Dragons flying over Winterfell. (I actually am having goosebumps rn as I write this bc I am listening to the songs while writing).

Alright! To conclude, I love the soundtrack to death, huge respect to Ramon Djawadi, the man who created this beautiful music, maybe it has become clear how much music means to me (I even had an advanced music class in high school) and thank you for reading. I’m sorry that it took me so long to write something new, but I was on vacation over winter break and didn’t have the time to make some new posts. But here I am again, and I hope you still like reading what’s on my mind. <3

Okay so this is just a little side note to thank everyone who has ever liked or reblogged or commented on any of my posts. I never thought that anyone would actually read the essays that I write XD

But I want to especially say thank you to you @staarliings for your comment on my latest post. That literally made my day :) And you know what? I won’t stop talking about episode 5 because I still have so many things to say ^^

I know, I promised I would stop talking about episode 5, but there‘s another thing I want to talk about.

In an interview Emilia Clarke talked about a thing she did called „the Khaleesi posture“ on set. You can see this on the left pic. Straight back. Hands folded. She looks serious, attentive, always listening to the people coming to her, like the good queen she is. Remember how Joffrey sat on his throne? The complete opposite to her.

But now? She doesn’t care about other people anymore, she doesn’t care about how others will perceive her. She sits on the throne on Dragonstone like she wants to be feared. This is the first time we actually see her breaking the "tradition" of the khaleesi posture. And the way how she sits on this throne changes reflects her changed mental state so well. (was that a correct english sentence? idk sry) I just love those little details that you can’t see or don’t pay attention to when you watch an episode the first time.

Okay, so this is the last thing about Episode 5, i promise. But I just wanted to talk about family for a second and what a huge role family plays. I will not talk about the Starks now (who are my favorite family of all) but the Lannisters. In this episode Daenerys tells Tyrion that the Unsullied caught Jaime and that the next time he would fail her would be the last time. First of all, what did Jaime do to give Daenerys a reason to be disappointed in Tyrion? The fact that Jaime wanted to return to Cersei has nothing to do with her. But it also shows to me that she doesn’t know how important family is in Westeros. Daenerys never had a real family, besides her total douche of a brother, so she doesn’t know how a real family works (that‘s also why she says that Jon betrayed her by telling Sansa about his true heritage, although she begged him not to. She doesn’t understand that family works together and that family is a stronger bond than romantic love).

The thing I want to talk about, is that family always stands above loyalty in the end. Tyrion always told Daenerys that he wanted to see Cersei gone, but when the time came he begged Jaime to escape with her. He wanted his siblings to live because he knew that when the fight would be over, Daenerys won’t show any mercy towards them. And although he knew that he would be punished if Daenerys found out that he freed Jaime, he took the risk. He owed Jaime his life, so he freed him in return. Although he and Cersei never had a good relationship, they were still family. And none of the Lannister siblings would betray one another. Cersei had the chance to kill Tyrion, but she didn’t. She had the chance to kill Jaime, but she didn’t (both in s7e7). It would have contradicted her values. The only thing she ever wanted was to protect her family. She would betray that if she killed that family she swore to protect. Tyrion wouldn’t betray Cersei either, he would rather risk his own life (what he did). And Jaime the least of them. He was the one holding the three of them together.

That’s why I love those three. In earlier seasons I only liked Tyrion, and Jaime a bit. But especially this episode showed how much they really cared for each other, even if they tried to ignore it in the past. That‘s why I think Jaime returning to Cersei is realistic. Not just because he loves her in a romantic way, it‘s because she‘s his sister, his family. Remember how I wrote that family is a stronger bond than romantic love? That‘s what I mean. I‘m pretty sure Jaime loved Brienne too, but his bond to his siblings is still stronger than to her.

You know what i liked in Episode 5? Just a simple gesture, a small detail that has a lot to say. In the scene where Varys is executed, before Daenerys lets Drogon burn him, Tyrion grabs Varys‘s arm. Sure, this can be understood as a last goodbye to an old friend, but I interpreted it as a reassurance. Varys said „I hope that I am wrong“ regarding Daenerys but Tyrion grabs his arm and has a ? look on his face. To me it seems like Tyrion was trying to say „You are right. I fear her. I‘m sorry.“ Tyrion knows deep inside what Daenerys has become but is too afraid of her. He has to tell Daenerys that Varys betrayed her, because if she found out before he would have told her, he would have died too. Seriously, Peter Dinklage‘s performance in Season 8 is just awesome, he really deserved the Emmy.

Seriously, the city surrendered, Dany started to burn them all, the Unsullied and Northeners started to murder everyone, not just Lannister soldiers, but innocent civilians too. I mean what the hell is happening. I appreciate that Jon tried to stop them tho. What the hell.

Season 8 Episode 5 was just one big What The Hell moment

What the hell is wrong with me??? I just finished season 7 (for the second time) and now I kinda wanna start again? I‘m so addicted to this show, it probably isn’t healthy.

I watched season 1 in 2017, season 2 a few months later. Season 3 in the beginning of 2018 and season 4 in summer 2018. I finished season 4 in April 2019 (when season 8 already started whoops) and bought the blu-rays of seasons 5-7 and watched them from April till May 2019. Then I bought the first two seasons on blu-ray in the beginning of August and watched them in the span of one week. Then I was away for two weeks and bought the blu-rays of season 3&4 at the end of august. That was over four weeks ago, it‘s now the 26th of september. I watched freaking five seasons in four weeks. I managed to watch the whole show (except for s8, the blu-ray doesn’t come out until december sadly) in seven weeks (two weeks of that not watching anything, so technically five weeks). It seems like I watched season four last week.

And now I kinda wanna start again? I mean, I wrote in many other posts that I was afraid of watching it again because you couldn’t experience it the same way you did when you first watched it. And it‘s true. I mean, I still get goosebumps at any epic Daenerys scene and also get excited even though I know what‘s gonna happen. But I didn’t cry that much and I wasn’t shocked that much. I probably am so addicted because I don’t want the show to end, in my mind. I don’t want to say goodbye to this franchise, so I watch it over and over again until I am sick of it, I already see it coming. But there are so many scenes that are epic in every way -you can’t just get enough of these scenes. I‘m talking about literally every scene Daenerys is in from s1 all through s7. The Sack Of Astapor, The conquering of Meereen, Leaving Essos, arriving in Dragonstone, The whole Spoils of War episode, saving Jon & the others beyond the wall. The music gives me chills every time I hear it, it just makes me want to watch the show again. And there are so many characters I miss. For example I, for my opinion, don’t ship Jon and Daenerys at all. It feels forced from the writers, to get a little more drama into it. Ygritte was a much better partner for Jon, I miss her so damn much. I miss watching little Arya growing to be the fiercest of them all. I miss Charles Dance as Tywin Lannister, intimidating the shit outta everybody.

But I can’t just start again. I wouldn’t enjoy it at all probably, because it still is so fresh in my memory (although my memory is preeettty bad, I just forget other more important stuff). I‘ll have to wait. I‘m going to force myself now NOT to watch it until next year. That is my goal.

Although the writers of Game of Thrones may have done things to the series that many find bad, I have to say that I LOVE and am very grateful for how they have changed Beric Dondarrion’s character arc.

In the books, Beric is weakened and complains a lot about his physical and mental state because of his resurrections. He ends up giving his live for Lady Stoneheart, the zombie kinda version of Catelyn Tully. ... hm.. ._.

But in the show he becomes stronger and is an absolutely awesome and (for me) quite stunning character. His purpose is much bigger than in the books, he knows what it’s worth fighting for. We wouldn’t have had the Wight Hunt Squad if the writers would have stayed true to the books.

So, for that I’m very grateful. I thank the writers for making him so awesome that he literally became my favourite character in the whole damn show. I can’t stop watching scenes with him and the brotherhood.

This scene is so cute I almost cried. These siblings are everything, they all love each other dearly.

And Robb and Jon‘s goodbye hug ugh god it hurts so much...

Oh man and Ned‘s lip was trembling when he spoke about Jon‘s mom. And how he lied to Robert about her saying her name was Willa or something.

You can also tell that Jorah fell in love with her directly from the beginning. He can’t stop looking at her, y‘all know which look I mean.

seriously, Jaime looks like Prince Charming in the first season. And Tyrion looks awful. Thank god he has a beard later.

And i now wonder again why Ned didn’t tell Cat that Jon was Lyanna‘s son. She wouldn’t have told anyone and would have made Jon‘s childhood a lot easier. Poor puppy Jon.

another thing that I noticed starting the first season again is that there are way more sex related things than in later seasons.

Alone in the first episode we have Tyrion in the brothel, King Robert kinda cheating (kissing and intimately dancing with another woman) on Cersei, Khal Drogo and Danaerys‘s wedding and their sex afterwards and Jaime and Cersei fucking in the tower. I mean damn. Wtf.

I‘m watching s1e1 right now and fell for Robb all over again. Honestly, I wish I had such an awesome brother. The scene right after that where he picks up Arya and says “time for bed” is so freaking cute I cannot even

Again, i‘m in a dilemma. I know no one‘s gonna read this but I have to get it off my chest somewhere.

I want to watch Game Of Thrones again. And I also don’t want to watch it. I want to watch it because it’s awesome and because I would love to accompany my favourite characters on their journey once more.

But I don’t want to watch it because I know what’s gonna happen. I desperately want to feel the same emotions as the first time. I don’t want myself to sit there going “ugh first season my god I wish they were more grown up” because I am used to the characters being more mature than before (for example Sansa, I hated her in the first season).

Should I start it again? Oh man i don’t know. I want to! But I also don’t want to. I wish I could see it the same way I did when I first watched it. When my eyes couldn’t leave the screen because I didn’t want to miss anything. You know what? I’ll watch it now. Maybe I’ll focus more on details now. Maybe it’s the same with LotR, first you watch it normally and then you start to notice details, little changes until you can sing to the soundtrack and know when which song plays in the movie. Maybe this will be the same here. I really hope it will.

My favorite character

I shouldn’t have started it today. I’ve watched the first two episodes and I really don’t like where this is going. Whereas my favorite (& favorite underrated) characters, such as Ser Davos, Tyrion, Jaime, SER Brienne, Tormund and Podrick, sit by the fire and drink and talk, I feel really really sorry for Jon (he’ll forever be Jon to me).

But Daenerys seems to grow more and more mad. I really wanted to see her on the throne. I really did. But now? I’m afraid that she will become as mad as her father. She seemed so mad and upset by the fact that Jon is Aegon Targaryen, although it’s literally not Jon’s fault. She does love Jon but I think that she lately tends to lose control over her emotions. She loses her moral values and logical thinking. She even threatened to kill Tyrion. I don’t want her to be crazy. I DON’T WANT THAT TO HAPPEN. Aaah I’m so scared to watch the next episodes.
