Something I really liked about the phm book that doesn’t really come up in the movie (past the grace mental breakdown era) is how grace was fairly close with yao and ilyukhina.
It’s one of the earliest things he remembers and throughout the book, there’ll be moments where grace will go ‘ilyukhina would make fun of me for this’ or ‘yao would give some advice’ and it’s so heart wrenching because it keeps happening long after grace decides he’s gonna push down his grief
I love how Rocky is incredibly well aware that saying "where my bedroom" doesn't make any sense (he's got a whole plan for making a sleeping area already and knows the Hail Mary doesn't have bedrooms) and therefore literally the only purpose of saying that was to mess with Grace. He's such a little shit I love him so much
"Whimsy" is truly a wretched term. What maketh thee so carefree?

Art thou for fucking real
There’s someone living in the attic of Wayne manor and Tim is the only person to realize it.
He’s tried to tell the others but they all think he’s just sleep deprived when he brings it up.
It’s not paranoia it he’s right!!
Danny meanwhile is having fun messing with Tim.
He’s bored! Nothing to do most days other than sneaking books and food upstairs.
Besides, it’s funny to watch the Waynes accidentally gaslight their family member.
It all culminates to:
*Tim bopping and humming along to “come and get your love*: doo do do doo do bub bub bub buh- Hey~!
Danny above him: hey~!
The rest of the family:WHAt-

Listen, movie Stratt and Grace were on a whole new level with whatever the fuck “weird secret third thing” they had going on between them, but let’s not pretend book!Stratt was normal about Grace. There was ZERO reason for him to be in the courtroom for the copyright suit. It had NOTHING to do with any “secret tertiary specialist” stuff. He arguably COULD have been much more useful in the lab. He sat there and said nothing and looked pretty for that entire scene. She dragged his ass on a plane just to sit there and he didn’t say a word in court. If that doesn’t say “this is my emotional support science loser” I don’t know what does.
Okay so in the PHM book Grace mentions that, since his last name also happens to be an English word, Rocky just calls him the Eridian word for “Grace”. But considering “grace” is a relatively niche word that would probably take a while for them even to develop the vocabulary to translate, I can’t help but wonder if there’s a little more going on here, and have ended up with two conflicting headcanons to explain it:
When they first meet, Rocky is just as worried about whether the alien will be hostile, and is so relieved by their first interactions being so positive that he names the alien the first thing he has discovered about him: “Kindness”. (It isn’t until Grace is explaining the possible interpretations of his name much later that they realize the coincidence. It feels strangely fated.)
Rocky has been calling him “Idiot [affectionate]” this entire time and lied about the whole “grace” thing when asked because who’s gonna know the difference. (when they make it back to Erid, Rocky has to make some very hasty, awkward explanations to the leaders planning to welcome the second savior of their world, culminating in a heated debate over whether to change the human hero’s Eridian “name” and in doing so expose Rocky’s crimes, or go with a planet-wide “commit to the bit” and keep the “Welcome to Erid, Idiot” decorations as is—all while Adrian loses their mind laughing in the background)
Idea: Both Grace and Rocky get annoyed that the other cannot experience the world like they can and try to come up with ways to compensate for the other’s lacking senses.
For instance Grace desperately wants Rocky to be able to experience color so as not to think so many motionless sights are boring. To reveal the hidden beauty afforded by human sight. So he starts working on a higher definition version of Rocky’s flat image to textured surface visualizer. He devises to use micro-textures to stand in for color, interviewing Eridians to come up with pleasing patterns to simulate colors based on the emotional associations those patterns evoke, like synesthesia in humans. For instance how red is “warm/passionate/exciting” blue is “calm/cold/deep” and so on. Gathering enough patterns to make a beginner palette and then finding ways to interpolate and blend between them to come up with enough colors to fill the entire spectrum. It takes several tries and misses but when Grace gets it nailed down and the Eridians can “see” they are THRILLED by it. The whole world takes on hidden depths. They would all immediately want to know what colors they are. They would probably extrapolate off the existing microtextures to start coming up with new “colors” all their own. Adding patterns to see in the infrared and ultraviolet spectrums. Incorporate them into fashion and entertainment media. Have a field day with the new way of experiencing the world.
Meanwhile Rocky is stricken by Grace having such a narrow pinhole view of the world compared to what his echolocation awareness affords. Grace can’t feel the expanse of everything. Or see the tiny microfine details. Grace’s sense of sound and of his surroundings is so FLAT. So Rocky brainstorms to find some way to express the volume of it all and arrives at Haptics to let touch make up the difference. Before Grace knows it he’s got pads strapped to his chest, his shoulders, arms, head, back of the neck, belly, groin, all the places. Wherever he has sensitive clusters of nerve endings that will help him feel the topography of the noise against his skin. The first time Grace gets the full effect of it it’s like WAY too much and he has to quickly escape and convince Rocky to dial it back majorly before he can go again. It takes some time to work up to, but when he manages, Grace marvels at how different soundscapes FEEL different ways, some perceived more across his back or his scalp or in his chest and others better distributed across the whole of him in ways that elicit anxiety or calm. Neutrality. Intensity. Joy or sorrow.
But ESPECIALLY it would give him a newfound appreciation for the Eridian’s musical language. How different intonations elicit unexpected emotions and certain words and names just FEEL good across your skin or carapace. How unexpectedly powerful and even intimate speech can be when you feel it so pervasively.
Nobody at Gotham Academy could agree on when the new kid became a problem.
Not a troublemaker—those were easy. Gotham had a system for troublemakers. Detentions, suspensions, quiet phone calls to powerful parents.
Danny Fenton didn’t fit any category they had.
He slept through fire drills. Not metaphorically—he actually slept through one. Students were herded outside, alarms blaring, teachers shouting, and Danny had to be physically dragged out of a classroom chair. When he woke up, he blinked at the flashing lights and asked if this was “extra credit.”
Damian Wayne decided, very early on, that something was wrong.
It wasn’t just the lack of awareness. It was the absence of reaction. Like Danny existed slightly out of sync with the world, where consequences simply… failed to land.
Damian tested it.
A pencil snapped sharply beside Danny’s ear. Nothing.
A book dropped from a height aimed precisely to startle. Nothing.
A warning—clear, direct, edged with threat. “You should pay more attention to your surroundings.”
Danny looked at him, friendly and confused. “Why? Am I missing something important?”
Damian did not have an answer to that.
But Gotham did.
Because Gotham always notices.
It started with shadows lingering too long. Security cameras glitching only when Danny passed through the frame. Doors unlocking seconds before he reached them, like the building itself was trying to accommodate him.
Then came the whispers.
Not rumors—those were normal. These were quieter. Stranger. Like the city was trying to figure him out.
The night it escalated, the sky over Gotham had that heavy, storm-pressed feeling. The kind that made even seasoned criminals hesitate.
Danny didn’t notice.
Of course he didn’t.
He was halfway across the courtyard when the lights went out.
Total darkness.
Students froze. Someone screamed. The air shifted—charged, wrong.
Damian moved instantly, blade already in hand.
“Stay behind me,” he ordered.
Danny leaned slightly to the side, trying to see past him. “Is this a drill? Because if it is, they’re really committing to the atmosphere.”
A shape moved in the dark.
Then another.
Figures stepped forward—silent, coordinated. Not League this time. Something else. Older. Stranger.
One of them spoke, voice layered like it didn’t belong to a single throat.
“We have found you.”
Danny pointed at himself. “Me?”
“Yes.”
Damian shifted his stance. “State your purpose.”
The figure ignored him.
“You do not belong here,” it continued, eyes fixed on Danny. “You were not meant to remain.”
Danny scratched the back of his neck. “Okay, that sounds like a scheduling error, not a me problem.”
The air dropped in temperature.
Frost crept along the ground—thin at first, then spreading, curling around Danny’s shoes.
Damian noticed.
Danny didn’t.
“You crossed a threshold,” the figure said. “And now something has followed.”
That—finally—got Danny’s attention.
“…followed?” he repeated.
The shadows behind him shifted.
Not the figures in front.
Behind him.
Something taller. Not fully there. Not fully gone either.
Damian felt it before he saw it—the instinctive, bone-deep warning.
Danger.
Real danger.
“Fenton,” he said, voice sharp, “do not move.”
Danny turned anyway.
Of course he did.
And for the first time since Damian had met him—
Danny went very, very still.
“…oh,” he said quietly.
The thing behind him moved closer.
The figures in front stepped back.
Even they looked uncertain now.
“What is that?” Damian demanded.
Danny didn’t answer immediately.
When he did, his voice had lost its usual careless tone.
“…I think,” he said slowly, “that’s why I wasn’t supposed to stay.”
The thing’s shape sharpened—just enough to suggest eyes.
Watching.
Waiting.
Recognizing.
And somewhere, far above the courtyard, thunder rolled—loud enough this time that even Danny flinched.

Moreover, overpopulation is an ecofascist myth specifically scapegoating ‘developing’ nations in the global south for climate disaster.
In reality, populations only rise so sharply as people begin to receive better access to healthcare and maternal and infant mortality in particular decrease. Eventually, as healthcare access is more evenly distributed through a population and people on a larger scale are able to access family planning care, the population stops increasing and levels out and decreases.
Which is why so-called ‘developed’ are all now manufacturing a crisis about population decline and not having enough bodies to fill out the labor force while simultaneously fearmongering about overpopulation in racialized groups. It’s eugenics shit.
This video is almost 10 years old and is so good at educating against ecofascist ideas of overpopulation. Makes me angry 10 years later we're still dealing with eugenics
I LOVE THIS VIDEO AND I LOST IT FOR AGES AND NOW I FOUND IT
Everybody go watch Hans Rosling destroy ecofascism thank u
13 years after committing the act that made them toss and turn at night, Carl and Stratt stared up at the night sky, thinking about how their heros were waking up, still haunted by what they had to do, and praying that the astronauts could fulfill their mission and save the Earth.
Meanwhile, Ryland “I am Emperor Comatose, kneel before me” Grace was teaching an alien to do the macarena.
