#no but with Hunter Coulson is positively smug#because he knows his son is a little shit and a little shit doesnât need a teary eyed smile from his father#a little shit wants his father to pat his back and say something along the line of âlook at this little shit. I made this little shitâ#and once upon a time he might have done that to Fitz#but Coulson understands things are different now#Fitz is the insecure middle child whoâs done so well but still needs constant reassurance#still needs affirmation that heâs wanted in this family#it is tenderness that he seeks#and Coulson gives him exactly that#A++ parenting#sons of Coul#ayy this needs to a tag#papa bear Coulson and his little cub (via theradiointukyshead)
binge watching is great until you run out of the show and have to start watching it weekly like some sort of medieval peasant
the bad part about being an introvert is that you feel like you get left out of everything but at the same time youâre not sure you wanted to go out and do the thing anywayâŠ
i cannot get âlet qui-gons be bygonesâ out of my head
Daisy Ridley looks like the love child of Keira Knightley and Hayley Atwell
Omg thatâs it. Thatâs fucking it
And theyâre all BAMFs too
letâs stop being surprised when beautiful women are also intelligent
A note for fanfic readers.
I am currently in the process of porting a lot of my older fanfic onto AO3, because I want it all in one place/donât want it to be lost/want to revise it to be a little more in-line with my current standards of both quality and language use. Itâs so quick and easy! I canât remember why I didnât do this before!
âŠoh, right, she says, as the hit counter goes higher without the comments, or even the kudos, to match. Because I feel like Iâm screaming into the void.
I come from very comment-heavy fic environments, and like most fanfic authors I have known, I am a little twitchy about âwhat if this is awful what if I am awful what if nobody likes my shit at all.â So when I have 50 hits and one kudo, I actually feel pretty rotten, which makes me less eager to do the job of cleaning and posting.
This is hence a plea on behalf of all fanfic authors: remember that the people who write the stories you enjoy are not getting paid for their time in anything other than âyou did good, have a cookieâ comments from people. Please consider commenting if you liked a story. Please consider leaving a kudo if you read all the way to the end. There are stories that are qualitatively bad that Iâve left kudos on, because hey, I read them, they gave me an hour of enjoyment, they deserve a cookie.
We have infinite cookies to give. We should share them freely, because wow, does it suck when fanfic makes fanfic writers sad.
Thatâs all.
This feels particularly relevant to a lot of chatter Iâm seeing cross my dash.
Writing is hard. Writing is scary. Writing takes time and effort and care and love love love. Which is true of any fanwork of course, but fanfiction also requires a significant investment from its audience before it can even begin to be seen. With art or gifsets or any other visual medium, the work can be consumed, appreciated, and commented/reblogged/whatever within seconds. It takes longer than that just to read the description on a work of fanfiction.
But in the same vein, your fanfic writers give you hours of entertainment in return. Whether itâs a smile or a sob delivered in ten minute ficlets or 100k monsters youâre still reading at 3 am, fanfiction will give you a level of immersion unique to the fandom experience. With fanfiction, the characters live forever and the story never ends.
Still, that commitment from the audience means weâre already looking at a sliver of the same attention, without hope of the same scale of interaction and response. That makes what we DO get so very critical.
If you read something, take a moment to click those kudos or likes or whatever. If you liked it, leave a comment, If you loved it, love your fanfic author back and tell them. TELL THEM EVERYTHING I PROMISE YOU WE WANT TO HEAR
Remember that the only thing that nourishes fandom creators are your responses. Your fanfic writers are timid, starving creatures. Feed them. Love them. I said the characters live forever and the story never ends, but thatâs only true if the storytellers keep telling stories. To do that, they need an audience. Make sure they know they have one.
Think of your fan creators as skittish, timid forest creatures. Â If you speak in a kind voice and leave scraps of food around, chances are, theyâll keep visiting the yard of your fandom. Â Yell at them, ignore them, or make your fandom yard an unpleasant place to be, and they disappear, leaving you wondering why your yard is so empty and boring.

each generation of jedi is progressively less prepared for their first duel
Anakin: I have had years of training from the Jedi Order
Luke:I trained... for like 3 days with an out-of-practice old dude
Rey: What's this fuckin glowstick lol
I sincerely believe that by 7th year Ravenclaws would just tell the door to their common room to fuck off and it would open for them
Q âWhy is a raven like a writing desk?â A âYou shouldnât shove either up your arse.â ââŠTechnically, yes.â
Imagine it, a poor First Year is waiting outside the common room, they canât answer the riddle in a way to appease the eagle and must wait until someone else to answer it for them. Itâs getting late, theyâre starting to resign themselves to having to spend the night here.Â
Suddenly, their saviour comes! Itâs a seventh year! Back from a night finishing off their Araithmancy essay in the Library. They look angry, but our poor little first year squares their shoulders, waiting to see what will happen, and hope that theyâll keep the door open for them.Â
The Seventh Year bangs the handle against the wall, and a slightly disgruntled voice asks the question again: âWhat is the truth?â
The Student Replies, âThe Truth is that I am so fucking sick of all these mother fucking questions about stupid fucking topics like this you bloody fuck-witted bastard. Who in the name of Merlinâs saggy left testicle gives a fucking damn about all this shit anyway? Iâve been working my arse off in the library for the last seven hours now let me the fuck in or, truthfully, Iâll blast my way in and take you with me.â
The eagle knocker tutts, but allows the student entry anyway, and our little first year enters, eyes wide and in shock. They watch the seventh year go up to their bedroom, awe all over their face at their new hero. They did, indeed, learn something that day by waiting for someone to arrive, they learnt that swearing has a magic all of itâs fucking own, and that sometimes it is big and clever to use it.Â
The only head canon I will ever accept. Its both perfectly witty and fantastically assholish
witty and fantastically assholish⊠pretty much quintessential ravenclaw traits right there

Oh my god Iâm crying
Iâm sorry I couldnât help myself
A lot of gender issues could be resolved if we could get rid of the notion that women arenât allowed to have thoughts, and men arenât allowed to have feelings.
What's Anakin's reaction to being a grandfather?
TBH this is the only reaction I can think of right now:
Whenever Buzzfeed posts articles like âBet you missed this tiny detail in Order of the Phoenix!â or âThis obscure Harry Potter fact will shock youâ, Iâm just like awwwwwww sweetie thatâs adorable but no. I know everything. You underestimate my hp knowledge. There is nothing new you could tell me.
This is why I asked #WheresRey. This is why I think it matters, and why it irritates me that I was lectured by âtrue fansâ about how Star Wars cheapened itself by having a more inclusive, diverse cast.
âCheapened.â
No. You donât understand. This is absolutely invaluable to me, as a parent. This means the world to my little girl, who sees herself in Rey, and to so many others.
So the Nerdist was right.
This is amazing.
And not just for my girl, no matter how cute she is in her fangirling (I admit a small amount of bias). Itâs amazing for all the kids who can see themselves as heroes of this story with Rey, Finn and Poe now.

This.
THIS is what it is.all about. People get annoyed or frustrated that movies are âjust throwing in female protagonistsâ for whateverâs sake or âblackwashing for no senseâ. But for a five year old being brought into that movie and seeing themselves on screen, and no longer worrying about pretending to be a jedi at school and the boys discouraging her by saying that girls canât be jedis or âyou be mace windu since youâre blackâ. This is why feminism and casting POC in big movies is important
