It's almost hilarious to see Anakin fans getting bent out of shape and confused about fans who blame Anakin more than anyone else for what happens to the galaxy, for Order 66, for the rise of the Empire. "Why do people blame Anakin so much?? Sure he committed a genocide but that doesn't mean he's the MOST to blame!" they cry.

Maybe it's because Anakin fans have spent YEARS playing whack a mole with nearly every other character in Star Wars, especially the Jedi, just to find a way to make everything that happens NOT Anakin's fault.

Maybe it's it's because Star Wars fans IN GENERAL have spent YEARS deciding that the Prequels were all about the Jedi and the Jedi's failure and how that doomed them, Anakin, and the galaxy, instead of recognizing that it was about ANAKIN and ANAKIN'S FAILURE.

Maybe because Anakin's failures, Anakin's culpability, and Anakin's RESPONSIBILITY have been buried for years and years and years and gotten thrown onto nearly every other character from the Prequels BUT Anakin (not exclusively but primarily the Jedi like Mace, Yoda, Obi-Wan, Ki-Adi-Mundi, the Council, etc).

Maybe it's because some people are just getting super fucking TIRED of pretending like it's not Anakin's fault. Maybe it's because we're super tired of pretending like he's not the main character whose flaws and choices are literally the entire story. Maybe it's because we're tired of the focus always being on how everyone else failed Anakin and never on how Anakin failed everyone else. Maybe it's because we're tired of how Anakin's flaws often get shoved under a rug in favor of focusing on his victimhood and how sad and tragic his story is rather than looking at him as the CAUTIONARY TALE that he actually is.

Maybe we're tired of the boring ass story that his fans keep trying to tell that has nothing to do with looking at how a good man's fear consumed him and turned him into the villain of the story. Maybe some of us want to actually TALK about that story a little more and it involves focusing on how Anakin fucked up and is responsible for ALL the consequences of his choices and how everything bad that happens is a direct result of Anakin being selfish and greedy and that's the POINT.

Exhausted, and aware that this isn’t my normal content, so this probably won’t make much sense, but I want to get it out so walk with me.

Part of the reason “the curtains are just blue” (the whole idea that mini details are irrelevant to the story) is an argument I find fundamentally incorrect, and a reason I don’t see brought up often, is that editors are brutal. Everything on the page is deliberate because it has to be. The superfluous things have been cut already. The reader is seeing a condensed version of the story.

The curtains have a colour in the first place. That colour is mentioned explicitly. There is a reason for that, you’re just not looking at it from creative angles. It is that deep because the depth and the importance of the detail has been negotiated by the countless people who have written, read, critiqued, edited, revised, cut things from, and changed the book.

it’s relatively common fanon that jedi aren’t very physically affectionate with each other, and that may be true and that’s fine, but I like to think that physical affection not being expected or on any kind of pedestal also affects the culture inversely, where casual intimacy is also no big deal for jedi, and overt physical displays of affection might not be thought of bc everyone is already so used to taking care of each other. jedi will bathe their mission partner after a particular rough assignment. only one bed? we’re jedi, we didn’t even notice, maybe a pillow wall if we care about personal space. lost my socks? I can ask my neighbor for a pair even if it’s the second time we’ve spoken, that’s my fellow jedi:)

The Jedi tag is irritating. There are so many people tirelessly talking about "romance is forbidden."

Are you all too small in creativity, perspective, and vision to picture an existence where romantic relationships aren't the pinnacle of connection? Why are you all so boring? Jedi have an intimate relationship with the cosmic energy that connects all life. Romantic relationships (especially exclusive ones) seem pretty superficial, empty, and irrelevant in comparison.

Jedi are raised in a community. You have a Master that guides you in the ways of the force until you're attuned enough to let it guide you on your own, and you won't need a teacher anymore. Then you let them go. This doesn't mean that you stop caring about your Master but you have thousands of Masters and you have thousands of brothers and sisters and Padawans too.

Aayla doesn't not teach Ahsoka because she's not her Master. She is still a Jedi Knight, and Ahsoka is a Jedi Padawan. They are all part of the same Jedi family, so of course, Aayla also does her best to guide her. So does Plo. So does Luminara. So does Master Sinube. They are raised in a way that they are all close and connected enough to each other to all fill teaching roles and be able to confide in each other and help each other and I think that's beautiful.

i don't actually think star wars is space fantasy. 99.9% of people in the GFFA are just in a regular science fiction story. but also have a low likelihood of meeting a real actual wizard.

like it's a really big setting (whole galaxy) and even pre-empire the Jedi were a single religious order based on Coruscant. and yeah they could have other temples but they clearly don't have an established presence on every planet. plus latent force sensitivity is typically a pretty subtle ability (Anakin was off the shits powerful & his presented primarily as inhumanly good reflexes).

fully plausible to me that most people who don't live on Coruscant (or another planet w a Jedi temple on it) could very easily go through their whole lives without ever meeting a Jedi. less likely that they'd never run into anyone force sensitive but again 'force sensitive' could just mean 'weirdly intuitive' in practice

this is why it's not that implausible to me that as of the original trilogy a lot of people don't believe the Force is a real thing - even when the Jedi were relatively abundant i can believe that a lot of people were like 'oh there's a religious order who believe they have magical mind powers? that's neat I guess'. add in some imperial propaganda about how the Jedi and yeah sure. i can buy that within 20 years everyone's just pivoted away from believing in the force

anyway potential very sharp split in the rebellion between people who never believed in the force/bought into the propaganda/are just too young to remember the jedi order and people who are like no you guys the Jedi could kill people with their brains, I know bcos I was there

the rebellion is pretty clearly pro-jedi (use 'may the force be with you' as a sign-off in mission briefings) but i can easily imagine some rebels being like oh i get it, the force is symbolic right? it's a metaphor for the interconnected nature of life. and then Mon Mothma & co are there like for the last time the force is real and if you don't watch out Darth Vader is going to use it to kill you

Military historian perspective on TCW and the old EU novels about it: Yoda: Cares about his troops, bothers teaching them as individuals and learning about each individual of his little commando squad. Mace Windu: Cares about his troops, but admittedly, before he was brought to the order, did come from a world that was torn by war. Understands war as a concept, is willing to get his troops killed if that is the most effective means of winning a battle because he believes that it is better for soldiers to die than civilians. Incidentally, this is the standard of military command. Plo Kloon: Willing to risk his own life constantly to avoid casualties. Obi Wan: The show pretends its a different situation but honestly both it and the EU wind up portraying him (albiet with less intent) as about the same as windu. Anakin: Despite TCW meaning to say he's like Plo Kloon and well loved by his troops, I have no idea why his troops would like him. He cares about them until he gets emotional, and then he gets them killed in the dumbest ways possible - (and I don't mean tactically, Star Wars has never had the soundest grasp on strategy. I mean that Anakin does incredibly dumb shit that even Star Wars logic says can't work once he gets emotional or has some self-interest or conflict of interest involved in a battle.)

Sounds to me like most of the Jedi Order actually cared for the Clones' well-being, with the exceptions of that disgrace of a Jedi Pong Krell and the EU version of Quinlan Vos.

Unfortunately, some parts of the fandom bought into Karen Traviss' anti-Jedi BS from the Republic Commando novels, which created this huge misconception.
