Need someone to write a fic about Robby showing up to jacks house absolutely wrecked from a hard shift and just needs praise and something In his mouth to get his mind to finally shut up

Jack stumbles while circumnavigating the coffee table. Happens in the same damn spot just about every time he drinks at Robby’s, but all the same, a vision of stapleguns and ice packs flashes before his eyes. He saves himself with a hand on Robby’s shoulder.

Robby’s face rumples up in a smirk. “Watch out.”

“Came outta nowhere,” Jack insists. He drops into the seat beside him like a sack of potatoes, but at least its on purpose. “…Yet another narrow escape from being your patient.”

The leather cushion groans with Jack as he relaxes into the warmth of the arm stretched along the back of the couch. Safe as can be.

But the twist of Robby’s mouth has gone flat with a glint of clenched teeth. “Would it be that bad? Am I that washed up?” he worries aloud.

“Pfft! No,” Jack says. “That’s not a- you know.”

“A commentary on my professional fitness? Phew.”

“Nah… You’re still one of the greats.”

“You’ve said it before, but this time, I dunno. It scared me a little,” Robby chuckles, more honest than he seems to have intended being.

Jack hums, apologetic. Pats his hand on Robby’s knee. “That’s more it,” he says. “It would… kill me to scare you like that. Totally defeat the purpose of treatment.”

“Oh man...” Robby shakes his head. “Not sure that I'm usually a rock. Especially now they’ve got me on a Jekyll and Hyde potion. I’m more like a Silly Putty egg.”

Robby washes down his self doubt with a gulp from his drink then leans to swap it for the TV remote on the table. His arm drifts with him as he moves and then once again settles, snug around Jack’s shoulders.

Jack watches Robby as he squints and starts to sift through the menu on the screen. After everything that’s happened, Robby’s readjusting a bit, sure, but he hasn’t changed in any way that really matters. He certainly shouldn’t be allowed to think he’s any less than he once was.

“You’re one of those lab grown diamonds,” Jack says. “Maybe you’re faking it, because you care and you’re trying to do right by everyone… but you’re still a rock.”

Robby’s brow goes up in surprise and he looks at Jack. “Wow, a lab grown diamond... Did you think that up ahead of time?” he asks.

Jack grins back at him. “That was pretty cogent for being on my third or fourth drink of the night, huh?”

Or maybe this is his fifth? The count got a little muddy with them passing the wine back and forth while cooking together. Same thing is starting to happen with the tally of their dates, as their dinners blur into overnights and eggs over easy in the morning.

“I don’t think ‘cogent’ is the quite word I’m looking for,” Robby teases. His eyes flick back to the screen, where the cursor scrolls through rows of movies by genre.

Jack clears his throat and squeezes Robby’s knee again. “You’ve always said you don’t want to be my patient either,” he points out. “You can be honest with me, Robby. Am I a bad doctor? Am I… cooked?”

Robby lets out a scoff that’s just as appealing as he is, playing at indifference while browsing Romantic Comedies. “Don’t take it personally. I don’t like being anyone’s patient, any more than you do. Cliché as it is,” he sighs. “…Doctor patients are the teenaged Denny’s customers of medical practice. I hate to put someone through that.”

Jack chuckles. “Sometimes I hope hell is real on those waitresses’ behalf.”

Robby pauses his hunt for a movie to watch, waving the remote in disclaimer, instead. “Not that I’m saying patients are an imposition on doctors,” he says. “I just think-”

“That you already know what’s wrong with you, anyway?” Jack suggests, brightly.

“Kinda?” Robby groans. His glance lands on Jack first, then falls bashfully to his lap. “I just think I am incurably me,” he says.

Jack hums and reaches for Robby’s dipped chin, lifting it with just a finger. “Well see, then maybe I oughta be your doctor. I don’t wanna change that.”

“…Thanks,” Robby smiles. The crinkle of it only spreads as he lets himself be drawn into a kiss.

His beard prickles against Jack’s palm. Then when they part, and his lips sear a handful of kisses right in the middle. Eyes closed and blushing, Robby nuzzles into his touch as Jack sits back and wonders a moment. He might have been wrong before. No matter what the hypothetical trauma, this could stand a chance at fixing him, bones and all.

“You kiss like you’re cleaning every crumb off the plate.” Jack gives Robby a scratch behind the ear. “And that I thought up ahead of time,” he confesses.

Robby chuckles and mouths another kiss to Jack’s inner wrist. “Oh really?”

“I need something to do when I can't get back to sleep at 2 PM, besides wonder what you’re up to…”

“Do you imagine that’s when I sneak into the labs upstairs to grow diamonds?”

“Something like that.”

Robby stops and locks the dark sparkle of his eyes on Jack. “You make me want to. You make me wish I had something that perfect and beautiful to offer you.”

“You already do.”

Yeah, yeah, it sounds too cute... But Jack can’t bring himself to roll his eyes when he means it.

Because he is perfect, Robby makes a big show of thumbing the play button on the remote and then flinging it over his shoulder without looking away from Jack.

“Doesn't really matter what movie I put on, right?” he says as he comes climbing over.

Jack shakes his head. “Nope.”

I think Kerry's problem is she thinks she's working at an actual hospital and everyone else is subconsciously aware they're in a medical drama so they're like "no Kerry we don't want to do paperwork that's not good TV we want to break the law instead" and Kerry's just standing there like "what the hell is wrong with you people??????" I need more of Jack just relentless pursuing Robby. Just like a dog with a bone. Robby isn't uninterested or anything, he's just not prepared for this level of attention from anyone. Jack is so ready to just lock Robby down for life and he is not letting anything stand in his way.

there's something so uncomfortably voyeuristic in these shots. that head movement, as if he's trying to hide from the viewer too, but can't escape our gaze. we've known him for less than a day but allowed to get closer than the people who've known him for years. that's not right.
