Anyone feel free to answer this, but I'm sending this to you since you seem really educated on the Gospel. For my own peace of mind, I need to know, how are people sure that Christianity is the one true religion? Why not Islam, or Judaism?
It's not that I don't believe, but I'm trying to set my brain firmly on Christ right now. You see, I have a mental illness that causes me to frequently go with the sway of my thoughts and emotions. This causes me to often change my mind on which religion I should follow. It's complicated, to say the least, but I'm trying to stay steadfast in following God. I just need to know which way is the right way to go since there are so many paths to choose from. It gets so confusing sometimes. :(
Hello Miinky! Thank you so much for your patience with me in answering this question.
I'm sorry to hear of your illness, I can tell it's especially hard because as Christians we are supposed to not be dependent on our thoughts and feelings but to be dependent on God and His Holy Bible. This isn't something that can be done overnight, but with practice and prayer. Please take some time to pray daily about your struggles in keeping a firm stand on the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
As for why Christianity is correct and none of the others are, here are two reasons why:
Inerrancy of Scripture: Books like the quran, book of mormon, hindu texts, and otherworldy religious texts are full of contradictions and false prophecies. Only in the Bible will you find that 100% of all prophecies up to date have been fulfilled. I recommend looking that up here . The reason Judaism isn't correct is that they reject Jesus as the Messiah. Look very closely at Isaiah 53 for the prophecy of the Messiah's death and then look at Jesus' death. You will very quickly notice the similarities.
By Faith Alone are we Saved: All other religions will tell you that you must do works in order to be saved. Other worldly texts say, "do this to become a good person!" "Do this and you will go to paradise!" but only Christianity will say, "there is no good in you, come to Me [Jesus] and I will give you a new heart, full of new desires." (Eze. 36:26) We can't clean our moral standards up before coming to the God of the Bible, because it's impossible to with our sinful nature. Jesus died so that we can have a right standing with God. No other 'god' died for their people and atoned for their sins so that they might have new life. Forgiveness is only possible through the shedding of blood (Heb. 9:22) If we just believe in Jesus Christ for our salvation and repent of our sins, He will do all the work in us.
I wanted to keep it short but important, if anyone else has something to offer, please tag on the post, and Miinky, please be on the lookout in case anyone does! š¤
ā...how are people sure that Christianity is the one true religion? Why not Islam, or Judaism?ā
First off, lets look at the question of why Christianity and not one of these other religions.Ā
The issue with religion is that all religions make explicit truth claims. That is to say, religions teach that certain things their followers believe are true and things other religions teach are false. There can never be a situation where multiple religions are true at the same time, because these truth claims are mutually exclusive. Islam cannot say that Mohamed is the ultimate authority figure at the same time that Christianity makes the same claim about Jesus. Only one can be true and all other competing claims must be false if one is true.Ā
So then the question becomes, how do we evaluate which truth claims are genuine and which ones are false?Ā
Well, how would you determine in any circumstance if something is true or false? If someone is accused of a crime, we put them on trial and examine the evidence, donāt we? So why wouldnāt you do the same thing with religion? Examine the evidence!
As it so happens, the evidence for Christianity has been formally examined many times. And every time, it is proven to be the most likely and most reasonable explanation for the available facts.Ā
Some of the items of evidence you might consider (to provide only a very SHORT list):Ā
The historical evidence for the existence of Jesus.
The historical evidence for the resurrection.Ā
The historical evidence of other biblical figures and events detailed in scripture.Ā
Manuscript evidence supporting the accuracy of the bible.
Evidence from secular sources that confirm the events described in the bible.
The amazing number of biblical prophecies that Jesus fulfilled.Ā
The testimonies of well-known intellectuals who were anti-Christian atheists but then converted to Christianity after examining some of the above named evidence, such as C.S. Lewis and Lee Strobel.Ā
Literally entire books (more than I could possibly name) have been written to summarize, explain and defend this evidence. Just a few prominent examples would be The Evidence that Demands a VerdictĀ or Cold Case Christianity.Ā
But then, once you have reviewed all the evidence in favor of Christianity, you compare that against the evidence for other religions. And what you will find in every case is that other religions rest on very shaky ground at best, with many being provably false scams designed to dupe people into obeying authoritarian ecclestical hierarchies.
I personally have written extensive documents to debunk Mormonism and Catholicism, as well as addressing the material natural claims of Atheism. And there are many readily available sources to address other well-known religions such as Islam. (Judaism is a unique issue, as Christians acknowledge that the Old Testament and itās teachings are essential to our own faith, but modern day Jewish practitioners deny Jesus as their messiah and many have greatly altered or watered down the teachings of the scriptures.)
I would also recommend books that compare common worldviews such as Prevailing Worldviews Since 1500 and/or Is Reality Secular. These books would give you an understanding of why virtually everyone in the western world accepted Christianity as true for hundreds of years and why that has only very recently changed for all the wrong reasons.Ā
But ultimately, I would argue that if you carefully study the evidence and give it a fair hearing, there is really only one rational and logical conclusion. Donāt let emotion distract you from the truth,Ā @miinky-prayer-journal

ā... Al, heās dead.ā Finn has moved over to Filip, and Sophieās seen him, now, seen the blood, the matted hair, the mauling. āHeās dead, Alley,ā Liam insists, but brokenly. Sadie gives her own strangled sob, and Sophie sees, then, how wrong Liam is. Filip has moved. Heās shifted, shoulders tensing, outstretched fingers flexing. The mangled skin of his face warps in an otherwise indistinguishable answer to Sadieās distress.
Tears shock to Sophieās eyes. āFinn,ā she calls, as if he hasnāt already seen it. As if he hasnāt been certain all along Filip has survived this, whether because Filip is a survivor before heās anything, or because the alternative is too terrible to assume.
āHe's okay,ā Finn says, and he and Nev are back on that tarmac, except this time, it's Liam hating Alley for suggesting that anything is remotely close to normal.
I can't stopā
āBuddy, you're fine,ā Finn murmurs instead when Filip grunts and garbles. At his back, Finn can hear Sadie hyperventilating, and he shifts so that Filip can still glimpse her, even broken as they both are.
āOh, my Guhāā Sadie gasps a breath, having shoved away from Sophie to claw at her own chest, and then she lifts her head to gasp at the man in the aisle way, at the set of his jaw and the way he trembles, his chin dimpling with grief, with rage.

Seconds later, she's on her feet and turning to glare at Cain, her arms crossed defensively over her chest. Mac sees the corner of Ashby's mouth twitch.
āYou never mentioned Iceman to me,ā he grits, and Kellan's eyes flash.
āI've only been here five minutes, brother, and you haven't let me get a word in.ā
